Thanks Rick for sharing with the Hvac community
Hey Rick, you remind me so much of my Service manager I had at at Carrier Transicold servicing truck and trailer reefers. Your mannerisms, work ethic, vast knowledge and attention to detail is uncanny, hell you even resemble him. I’ve been doing commercial/industrial refrigeration over 20 years, yet I’ve learned a shit ton of tips, tricks and how to’s from you. I am now self employed , new techs in this field are getting harder to come by. Keep up the great videos you make it look easy. Pete.
Wow Thanks for the feedback! I have a special way about me that either you like or hate me. 😂👍😂
Look like Ghostbusters there with your wand in front of you searching for spectral apparitions 😂
Has to be a school for the equipment to be that good of condition for the age.
👍👍
the toilet line is just pure gold
😂🤣🤟
I'm kinda digging it, especially for residential weed whackers!
Nice video brother! The toilet supply line crazy😂😂!
that water supply line needs to be labeled as Non-Potable 24v control
Lmao I was thinking three rungs when you first put the ladder up and then you go back and correct it?! Great minds think alike I guess. 😂
I try to do it right when possible.
That school walk-in may be old, but it's been very well-kept and has a beautiful vintage aesthetic. I like it. If the box itself ever needed replacement, I'd keep as much of the original as humanly possible because it's so pristine!
12:49 - That has to be the bulgiest cap I've ever seen on any HVAC channel on UA-cam. The toilet line being used as conduit is HILARIOUS! It does the job, though. And you thought the cap replacement was going to be a boring job?
If I was to show everything I did throughout the week. It’d be a lot a little short videos doing things that wouldn’t probably make a lot of sense because it be starting and stopping.
always always above and beyond whats expected. why be a hack. Love your videos.
I agree 100% 👍👍
Nice job, Rick 👏
Thank you Steve!
Great video. Thank you for sharing
1:40 Yes you did film a video here, September 17th of last year. I thought I recognized this place.
Geez, always wanted a stalker 🤣🤣👍👍
Thanks for keeping these up Rick! Love watching them.
Thanks for continuing to watch them.
I like that you know not crack the system check pressure buy listening and felling and the temp alot of the time when check the pressure the valve stem start leaking
How about: in the fall do some food tasting reviews of their cafeteria food? I'd be interested in seeing what's being served these days, and whether the taste has improved. Thanks for the video.
12:57 - I thought I’d _seen it all_ when, on a no-cool, I walked up to an RTU with a frozen-over recip and evap where the previous ‘tech’ taped the contactor closed with a thumbtack holding in the armature! Nope! This one has to be it! (BTW: I replaced the 75 VA control transformer and removed the thumbtack.)
I know I’ve been on your channel a long time when I immediately recognized that Chrysler/Koppin from previous vids. Cool stuff.
I was going to link the video and I think I did it probably a year and a half ago
Another day in the life of an HVAC service tech. I like that scale....i have the Testo one with the solenoid and an FP. I'm a fan of Inficon products so i don't doubt its a quality scale. I do really like the weight it can take. I use large tanks all the time. Thanks for sharing Rick
Right on 👍 it made it really easy to add to that rack. Normally I got a guess. Some of the scales I’ve got will come close, but they really struggle holding it.
Great job Rick has always.
Do you have conduit for the Tstat wire? No, but i have a plastic toilet water supply line! Put it on there it's Friday after 4pm I got to get my kids! Lmao. Great video!
🤣🤣👍👍
Nice jobs Rick. Thank you.
If I was in a rush I'd ask the customer if it was working fine before it quit. If they say yes then I would throw on the capacitor and leave. That's a good way to tell if a residential customer is cheap and doesn't want to pay as much. Commercial customer I would go all out and fix as much as they would let me. It's hard to please everyone these days. Some people just want you out of there as quick and cheap as possible. When you bring up more than one thing to a residential customer they will sometimes think you're trying to scam them. It's hard out there these days.
That’s all great points. The only thing I would add to your point is another way to help protect yourself against a call back is to note what you seen and what you recommended to the customer. Then note on your paperwork customer choose to not do…. Have them sign it when you finished. Then when it takes a cap later your covered
Great video as always Rick. Your editing is awesome. I know it must take a long time to do. It’s much appreciated
Thanks Nick! Editing takes the longest. I hate watching dead spots so I try to cut them out.
Great job Rick........
Thank you very much for the videos
Glad you like them!
👍👍👍 thanks for the video
Great work rick 👍✌️
Not many helicopters on the roofs I guess.
lol I had a lot of customers with acs “low on Freon” just let it run for days until we get there. Feel like I’m a professional ice melter now.
Man those pass throughs are super cool
They do a nice job when they’re working correctly. I converted them to R134a from R12
Thank you.
Better than the rest!
I think the reason the capacitor overheated and swelled up is because they sealed that compartment off with silicone so it didn’t have any airflow to help cool it down 😅😅😅
Heat is what kills them but I would guess the age was more to do with it.
Thx
It’s probably an LA C180. The diaphragm is crack right where the pin hits it and it over pressurize it. We change them all the time not hard you just change the head.
I guess it was a dual pressure valve. I just ordered a new 180.
That scale seems pretty nice .
Now they have to come up with a tool to lift up them huge tanks without breaking your back and mashing up the scale at the same time .
It weighs about 165 pounds full. Whatever kilograms that is for you people lol it fit on their pretty good.
@@HVACRSurvival just the other day I did a recovery on a chiller 2 circuits with 308 pounds of 134a each circuit.
Had to manhandle the full recovery tanks when they weigh 205 pounds !
Boy is that a b*tch of a job !
@@sterlingarcher46 how much does your recovery tank hold
@@HVACRSurvival them big ol' buggers they allow up to 62kg of r134a ( about 136-137 pounds ) .
The Tare alone is 30 to 32 kg ( 66-70 pounds ).
Yes technically you could put in more but 62kg is what the manufacturer has set as a safety limit .
I much prefer the regular tanks because even though you'd need over twice a many tanks for the same charge , at least they're so much easier to handle .
The big tanks are very tall and the handle is around the tap so it makes it super difficult to carry them .
I usually use a trolley but you know how it is with roof tops and all that , sometimes you have no choice but to lift 'em sum b*tch !
🇺🇸❄️💪👍 nice work
Thanks 👍
and never fails if you were to do the cap and go. the a/c is not cooling you were just here!!
Bingo 👍👍
Psssssssiitttt 😂
I can see you doing something like that toilet tube Rick, if it works is it a stupid idea??
Toilet tube?
On the split ac those condenser motor wires are pinched between the lid and the body of the condenser . Pinched hard
I’ve had several of them short. I used to work on Lennox exclusively before I came to this company.
@@HVACRSurvival yup . I’ve been catching quite a bit of them and we don’t even deal Lennox. Anybody that pops the lid on those things if they aren’t aware there’s a channel for the wires they’re screwed.
ROFL tolet suply line for the low volt sat wire!!! so why did u change out the contactor on that second call What state are u in?
It was pitted, I’m in ohio
nice. lol
I have to send in my Sman480v to get fixed. Are those Testo manifolds worth a dang?
I feel though they’ve been pretty dang good. I’ve had a couple 550s and the 557. The first ones got stolen. I like that they’re small small. I have Fieldpiece probes. I just don’t use them right now cause I’m a little bit pissed off at Fieldpiece.
@@HVACRSurvival Thanks for the input.
@@HVACRSurvival What happened with Fieldpiece? I'm still liking my Sman 380's I think is what I have.
497 thumbs up
