Noticed the same with my old 2017 foreman..Engine hot from riding hit cold water it won’t idle..Ride around in the water for a bit once it’s cooled down it’ll idle fine underwater
Glad your telling it like it really is. I have no snorkeled and don't deep water ride, just an occasional 2ft deep hole. And if I go through water fast my 2020 520 Rubicon stalls out. Brand New havent even made 2nd payment yet. Knowone else will admit it I've ask around.
I wonder if it would help when it shuts off under water since the water has to get sucked up threw the 90 instead of just getting sucked into the Exhaust
so you’re saying this copper 90 that this kid put on my foreman before i bought it, could be the reason it tries to bog under water? love your vids btw
This is really interesting I don't have a snorkelled bike so I've never had my bike really under water before but I will say I never thought they'd just stall out even with a snorkel that would be super interesting to figure out why they do that
it's because if your motor doesn't have enough back pressure to push the water out of the exhaust it will stall this is because old gasses can't escape so the new gasses can't enter
You seem to have everything sealed up really well. What do you use to seal up your air box and the PCV hose going into it. Silicon? Or rtv? And what kind/color. I keep getting just a little bit of water in my air box and it worries me. Thanks in advance, you’re a big help

It would be nice to find a fix I’m running a copper 90 and o2 delete and the bike will only idle in water when it cools off if the bike is in water I have to hold the throttle for about 30sec until the light says cool for it to idle under water
I believe it already comes with to much back pressure with oem exhaust ,the water creates even more and cause an egr effect diluting the intake stroke, why when cold, lean idle of nosy epa regulations, a PV3 tune should fix this or bigger exhaust

I have a HMF on my 14 420 and it has never stalled under water. Couldn’t tell you why exactly, but I’ve done similar tests with it and it didn’t stall. The down side is that it is loud as fuck so it gets annoying.
I thought that the copper 90 only helped with cranking the bike back up under water I didn’t think it had anything to do with helping it idle I could be wrong tho
The only way that it may work is if the bike is perfectly level then if there’s already an air pocket in the 90 it wouldn’t allow water in just like if you flip a cup upside down it won’t let water in
You're missing one key point. The exhaust system is not a static system The air in it is contracting and expanding even if the engine is running because it is hot
So it sounds like the 02 sensor delete is the only way to go. Keeps the engine in high idle for warm up.. The first time you went in pond it was hard to stall it, engine was cold.
looks like Its nothing to do with cpr90 or exhaust, its your cylinder shrink's faster than your piston when it touching the water fast, and probably damaging cylinder walls😢. mine dying just when i spray hot cylinder with garden water hose(2005 trx350) ...
@@NelsonCreekCustoms makes perfect since.. We love the mud puppy channel.. We'll be at hog waller filming this coming weekend.. Maybe we'll see him out there.. We just put interforce 2s on our 840 big bore build..
All it is is the fuel air mixture has to be rich when it’s cold. When the engine leans out at higher temperature and is driven into water the computer doesn’t compensate for the temperature change fast enough.
Supposedly the copper 90 will keep water from getting in your oil when it stalls. Wonder if your oil would have been milky if you installed it before the first stall.
@@MudPuppyOffroad fr well that was good to know, i thought dummys rans a 90 to try and keep water from getting in your exhaust, which i thought would lead wayer right inti your engine
Can fill the cylinder up with water that's being pulled in through the exhaust valves. Best case scenario you get a crankcase full of water. Worst case scenario you get a bent connecting rod as water is pretty hard to compress. I never crank mine over in the water, but instead get it out and stand it straight up on the back and let the water drain out of the exhaust first, then let it back down on all 4 wheels and then take the spark plug out and spin it over a few times to push any water out safely. Only takes a few minutes to do, and I'd rather be safe than sorry lol.
Willie Jacobs I got a grizzly and I just start mine while in the water but I just make sure the exhaust is out and I’m just fine but when I get out the hole I put it in neutral and give it gas just incase
Maby just maby the copper 90 mod was not long enof going down because ther isn't enof gape for the water to be blocked idc about the sound becuse it's a sound a atv is loud regardless I'd like a bike that dont have no sound better to sneak up on animals and big game like I sead try it and add a longer copper toob going down
I have the same problem with mine only thing I've thought is the bigger hole vs the smaller hole in the stock exhaust so has more space for water to get in and not enough pressure pushing it all out.
Hondas stall because the engines dont have the rotational mass to push the exhaust out consistently with the weight of the water trying to flow in, 90 or not. Combines with a smooth low idle and its too much in most situations and it dies. A proper programmer tha raises the idle would be more appropriate. Pulling slack on the throttle cable and raising idle helps more than anything iv tried, but makes it harder to get in and out of gear especially when cold and kills my thumb changing the angle and amount of throw in the throttle on a long ride. I adjusted it back to stock and just stay on the gas in water
Holy shit, the few times ic stalled mine in water I pull the brake and crank it up ASAP. You have a full conversation with a fucking Go Pro before you re crank. Think water got in????
Ok so now you should test the real purpose of the 90. Let it stall without the 90 and get someone to snatch you out quickly and show us how much water went in your muffler. Then do it with the 90 and compare the results without the gay smart ass commentary...
Yeatman Racing #48 For real the O2 sensor delete is supposed to help with it shutting off when it’s hot the 90 helps to build an air pocket so water doesn’t go in your exhaust

Exhaust snorkel, the only true remedy. Yes exhaust snorkels look dumb, but function over form.
Been burned too many times
Make it where you don’t like put a guard around it
Run the exhaust up with the snorkel and give it a heat shield

Honestly made no difference on my bike but adjusting the throttle cable at the handle bars helped a lot.
This is the easiest fix. Just makes the thumb throttle weird
Unfortunately hes not that bright the solution is exactly what u said i made my bike idle at 1600 rpm at all times
