Iohan might seem like a mellow guy, but he is the ballsiest dude out there. There are so many points along the ride where he should have turned around but he didn't. Bear 10m ahead of you? "Ok" Breathing heavy doses sulfur? "Ok". Someone tells you there is a risk of meeting a criminal gang? "Ok" Freezing to death? "Ok" Iohan is the Chuck Norris of bikepacking. What a guy. Zero shits given. Love you Iohan. Thanks for your videos.
ExACTly...! I was telling my old man (75, I'm in my 50's) about him, Dad already knew about him! (and Dad is no fan of a computer, mind you). Dad said "Oh yea, I've watched all of his videos, that's a REAL man there"....and my Dad id more real man than most I have met in my life. Pretty major compliments to Iohan. Love Iohan!!

But I 100 respect even more how much work it is to bike, climb mountains pushing a bike and rafting. That's for being an inspiration. May the Cosmos bring you great wealth, health and peace. Happy Holidays.
Heej Iohan, you are a beautiful person. Your videos are beautifully shot and edited, you show us wonderful places and an amazing beautiful spirit and open mind. In a way i hope it will take you forever to reach Argentina because i cant stop watching. You are one of my great examples for cycling where other people wouldnt dare, and when they declare me crazy for the tiny little rides i do in the european flatlands, i tell them about you. Keep riding Bro. And please keep filming! OneLove!

Dude i'm gonna say it.... you inspired me like hell... i'm gonna travel by bike from holland to nepal. and gonna flim the trip like you do :) maybe nice way to map the world haha
Great man!! A whole money of the world cannot buy something like that, what you have on those trips. And look at those peoples, they are so happy, 2$ a day or even nothing.
I'm honored to get a reply from "the legend". :) Thanks a lot. My kids enjoy seeing you interact with the cows and saying to them, "hello beauty" and also calling them "dangerous creatures". We've laughed at that. I know I could never do what you do, but love to be taken on your journey. So thanks so much! Also, I've never seen a cyclist walk their bike so much. Gotta do what you gotta do.
Iohan, Wow another excellent movie 👌...As always very relaxing & interesting. What an amazing journey you have been on & some wonderful sights...Cant wait till the next one....thank you 👏...Peace to you brother..✌👍👍😉
Iohan, let me know when you're back in Toronto. Would love to meet you. I'm on part 9 atm and plan to watch every single video. Good luck out there, stay safe!
because many people on the world don t like the other people, cultures, races, landscapes , biological and geographical diversity and the great, great magnificence of the mother earth , many people think than their sofa , house, little county and close countryside and own cultural, religious or political and historical tradition and experience of life are the only true and important things , that is the human ignorance and of course is , all, stupidity and ethnocentrism , the curse of the mankind and one of the causes of many, many conflicts and cruel wars and bloodiest confrontations and disagreement ......
Absolutely love the vids Iohan. Just would love a bit more commentary about where you are during the vids and also how you are feeling…it looks like you are doing it easy!
Beautiful! Nice trip. Thank you for sharing your video. I hope to take the same trip soon. Perhaps not all the way from Alaska. Congrats on your Spanish! Well done all around!
you are a true , a true man and true ,real, authentic explorer on the beginning of the 21 century , a real good person, god gives you always the best things and protection on your trips and things on your life on this amazing , great and beautiful mother earth.....
Iohan - I can't stop watching your videos! I am impressed how quickly you learned Spanish. Have you been to Chile? I have been telling people about your videos, and I describe you as endearingly naive, relentlessly optimistic, kind and gentle, yet tough as nails, and a little crazy! pushing your bike up all those hills! Horses and dogs can sense that you are a gentle soul. I wish you well, and safe travels! Question - you have some time-lapse shots that also pan the camera - how do you do that? Great videos - can't wait to watch them all! If you are ever in Western Massachusetts, look me up!
i was in chile for few days near san pedro de atacama but will be back in chile later. The pans are with video editor (where you can zoom into the footage or timelapse and pan or zoom. During episode 1 i have one shot where the camera actually pans.... thats with an egg timer and the only time i used it
@@IohanGueorguiev thanks for the reply! Are you still traveling? My sister lives in south Chile, that's why I asked. Pucon area is beautiful. I did a kayak trip to Pumalin parque... a "must see" There are hot springs you can soak in!
I saw the article about the world record Mtb speed years ago. I believe it was something like 137mph and he had broken a bike and been injured on a previous attempt. Glad you decided against riding down the volcano! We need you in one piece Iohan Keep pedaling friend!
great editing! Your spanish has really gotten good! I'm excited about Costa Rica! I don't know how you make it up all those volcanos. That sulfur would have killed me. Seriously...I'm extremely allergic to it. You need a dog in every country. Also, have you considered tubeless tyres? I am thinking of trying them out.
oh yeah, it was scary! it was burning when i was breathing in the clouds. I wasnt sure if i should go up or not. I would go tubeless if i could but its not worth it getting new wheels for it.
@8:55 Twasn't a mexican tube. About the time you got the flat, there was a spat of time where there were batches of tubes (All made in China) where they would fail right at the seam around the stem for no particular reason. :(
hmm! interesting. I did keep those tubes for about 2 months in my bags since i got them in mexico but many of these tubes are just bad quality and i had them at low pressure for the sand.
I'm curious to know if you'd think a fat tire bike would be a good option for a trip like this (the Central American part anyways)? I am looking at leaving from just south of Mexico City and cutting down a similar pathway to Panama. Did you have most of those tire issues just from debris, or did some of it come from it just wearing out too fast?
if its just for central america, south of mexico city - you are better off with 27.5+ or 29+. You can still find a lot of stuff to ride off the main roads but you will be on tarmac for a decent chunk of the way. I switched to a fatbike in colombia and it is definitely nice for south america. Tires, well - cheap tubes in this particular video. Just get a good tire and run tubeless if you can.
totally. And how did your store it on your rides? I find my virb gets corrupted errors a lot when near full. I have making a video when I think its recording, and in the end its just me talking to myself : )
