Not a dis to the fans of her old stuff, but to her old label who screwed her over and tried to turn her into something she wasn't.

Tom And Nova are of a more realistic breed. hopefully its the voice for the new followers who understand how blinded we've become to this system around us the " walls" if you will built to keep us in line and under control. history is an amazingly documented thing to show that in reality a new face has been painted but the base layer remains the same.
Nova was formerly signed with Def Jam and they stabbed her in the back when they dropped her from the label.
That messed with her anxiety and depression.
When Nova says “HEY YOU”, replace it with “YO, DefJam 🖕🏾”
At the time, Nova said she never wanted to touch a piano ever again. That is the significance of her placing her ones on the piano keyboard.

I think you're right, it's a purging type of song and will be interesting to see what type of sound she finds from here with a bit more freedom in her mind.
Old nova was main stream nova And now she is now independent nova and i think this was her way to say f you to her former label
When you paused just to say "I don't like this" so matter-of-factly, I genuinely laughed out loud.

I think this is going after all of her fans from when she was on DefJam.
I think 'do you like my smile? I got it from the blood that I spilled" maybe was a reference to how happy she is to not be the old her.
Maybe she struggled with anxiety/depression/addiction and the new her is free of that, so she's smiling because that version bled out.

I think this was something shes been wanting to do for awhile, they made a song awhile ago called "Bad News" and she said momma I got bad news i fell in love with a rapper, so maybe shes been getting shit for the road she chose from her "friends" and family and shes saying IM HAPPY WHY CANT U BE HAPPY FOR ME! Also I agree with the Avril and Paramore and man when you talk it's so familiar, it feels like I'm watching my best friend when I watch you all your references and the pausing I get it all and its things I'd do if I made a channel it would be similar to what you've done very similar because I love that your honest and speak your mind and so many dont they just want to appease a certain fanbase and you got 10k so fast so clearly you're attracting much more fans. continue grinding also congrats on 60k . 👍👍

Wasn’t a big fan of rhyming Nova with nova 100 times but I did like this different style compared to her older stuff

Just a little bit of info for you nova has admitted that tom wrote her hook so I don't know about toms hooks but it may be how he delivers his hooks but my opinion i like most of toms hooks and don't see the problem with them but I don't have a music background I find the reactors that don't like his hooks have some sort of music background and understand the process of making music

I'm pretty sure this whole track was made for dude from ICP. He sent those texts when Tom n Nova got together on all that "you're an amazing artist and you're letting this guy ruin you" and "can't believe you'd throw your career away like this" etc... Pretty sure she just responded by telling him she got her style and smile by saying fuck you to all them and now she's happy n rich.
lol you really believe Joe Bruce sent those texts? haha that was debunked years ago. The text said his real name, stage name and from ICP. No one would be so stupid to say all 3 names when she had him on her phone already. That and it was confirmed the time of these so-called texts were while they were at a comic con or something. Ya Joe is going to send all those texts while at a meet and greet. Tom was just trying to get eyes on them because they were starting a band.

I think she used her name so much because she was saying she is back. The rest of the album won't be this.

As musician since the '80s be it in metal but always like any good music no matter what they said it was called after hearing your intro of your song this song should have made it on the radio and then I hit I just don't see until you step up your game where you could say anything about anybody's music and answer reactor I have to question that but hey your opinion always respect people's opinions even if I don't agree

I guess I understood the dislike of the amount of times her name was said. The song, to me, gives off this motivation vibe, thus with me only hearing her name, I feel that the song isn’t relating to me. However, most of the lines rhymed with the word Nova she probably just didn’t wanna hop of that rhythm, plus the fact this, like the he said, seems to be a song about saying fuck what happened to her personal, thus mostly being the reason why she stuck with using her name.
All in all, got some good laughs from watch. I enjoyed the song

You didn't catch that because you didn't see/hear wishing well. The Nova beast was upfront, speaking here, not just our darling Nova-Nova. I love this song. Its a warrior's anthem...I identify w/it. I don't think your view was a bad view on this song. I wasn't really a huge fan of the song either but it's a good overall song.

Also, I assume you know by now why this song exists. Her old producers changed everything about her and turned her into the Nova that everyone knew and then they dropped her and didn't even tell her, she had to find out she'd been dropped by her label by her landlord. Call this a return to her finding her way and style that she wants to use.

@@tinameadows462 for sure. I don’t know much about her but learning in pieces. I do have to be honest, this is the first solo Nova song I’ve heard and I was disappointed. The verses and the bridge are the main things. The beat, chorus, energy and overall music and video production are top notch. Just the repetitive nature of the verses and what seemed like a drop in energy for the bridge. I just can’t put it in a playlist cause it would be one that I skip after it played a time or two. Totally my opinion and not taking away from her talent. She is way more talented than me but it’s personal preference.
Edit: for reference, Popular Monster by Falling in Reverse and The Loser Wins by Atmosphere are a couple songs I really like.

Hard to believe you're such a Tom Macdonald fan, yet have never listened to Nova's music before? Her super old music is really fun and upbeat, maybe even mainstream (gasp!) But I still like it. Her newest music prior to this, is what you should check out. "GHENGIS KHAN" and "WISHING WELL" are both a must experience. That being said, Nova has been doing music longer than Tom, if anybody learned from anyone, he learned from her.
