I love watching your videos, your creativity, your organizing, your squirrel moments. I have many of the latter and at 60 I now just try to enjoy them. I've always been more of a watcher than a do-er of paper crafts, either my things didn't come out the same way or I didn't have the money for the supplies. Now I just love the process! I have been a paper ephemera collector probably my whole life, our 2nd bedroom is overflowing with things to create for journals and I thought perhaps if my things don't come out the way I want I could at least create the kits so that others can put things together. Anyhow, thank you for the lovely videos, I'm glad there's someone else out there who gets those squirrel moments and its fun to see where they take you. Your voice is also very soothing and gentle I guess is the word, and you describe things so well - perhaps that's the teacher in you. Thank you friend for letting me enjoy your process, I send you love! Oh, I think I found you through watching Gayle, who I adore as well. I know you go on craft retreats sometimes together so hug each other for me!
How sweet you are, thank you. How can one NOT adore Gayle?! She is just amazing. I hope you enjoy the process of whittling down that second bedroom of paper treasures 😊
This is an extremely beneficial video, Cori! You have summed up the issue many crafters encounter, provided suggestions/solutions to guide us back to our crafting and visually given us more ideas and inspiration! You are such a gem in the world of journal making! 💎 Thank you does not say enough, however, they’re the best two words! Thank you!!! 😀💞
Keryn, you are always too kind. I just share my thoughts and ideas in hopes that they encourage another crafter. Thank you for always making me smile 😊
Honestly I said right away a project box!! And also I must have my items and studio completely organized. I won’t fussy cut while working on a project. I fussy cut all at once and organize - I also have inspirational note books / boxes ( project box size ) to hold things not fitting in a book!! These are fabulous ideas Cori. Honestly got so so much inspirational ideas 💛
You're welcome. I really had to stop, think and evaluate... what do I do? Is it helpful or not? Could it possibly help another creator? Then I went from that point 😊
so thank you for these ideas.. it sometimes happens to me too and Im doing some of your ideas but glad to have more ideas from this video.. I just started to binge watch your videos and I so love all your ideas. And also your soothing voice is very nice to listen to.. thanks again for your videos....
One of my go to solutions for creative slumps is to revisit any of your amazing videos and I will inevitably see a technique that I had forgotten about or just be inspired by one of your many lovely projects. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and suggestions with us ... !!!!
Cori, how are you doing? Better, I hope? I continue to pray for you & your family. I do enjoy your videos so much. Thank you for all your time spent making them & sharing your gifts. This video has the idea rolodex from your scrapbooking days @ 8.00 min. Again, I hope your days are getting better.
Love it! I've been in such a weird headspace I can't even call it a slump. My mind is overflowing with ideas, so much so that I can't settle on any one project. I do have one in particular but I've been unable to find the photos I want to highlight....so temporary dead end on that one. I have a plan to make a pansy book, like your daffodil book. I've got plenty of ephemera to get started but just haven't. I bagged up my projects individually so at least I can find those when I'm ready. Squirrels could well be my spirit animal too! Anyway...I enjoyed your envelope and your artsy book very much. Thank you for covering this topic so thoughtfully.
I love doing the LIMES idea. What I do is go on Pinterest or UA-cam and search for “junk journal ideas”. Then I take a picture of something I like that I want to “copy” and change it up to suit my style, or maybe according to the scraps/supplies I have at the time. This can really get me going and lead me to many other ideas that I want try. I now have many photos that I can refer to when I get stuck. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you for this much needed reminder Cori. We all struggle at times (sometimes, lots of times) and you have listed a lot of great suggestions. I plan on putting some of these into place immediately as I spend hours sitting at my desk lately, wanting to create but nothing happens. Take care my friend. xx
I love all your suggestions. I another I get into a creative slump is when I’ve finished something. Sometimes I find it difficult to focus on getting started again. While watching this video, I’m sitting here making lace die cuts. I’ll have a nice collection when I start my next journal or when I start mass making ephemera. Thanks again for your suggestions!
I am the same way, Cori. I cannot create in a messy space! When I leave my craft room even if in the middle of an unfinished project, I will get those items back in order and ready for the next day, not totally removing it , just having it be orderly for the next play. I have found when I walk back in I am relaxed and ready since there is no mess to start with. You are so well explained and talented and I always learn from you. TFS!
Thank you Jeanette. There are several people that I love dearly that can only create in a (in my mind's eye) cluttery mess. I think part of the key is figuring out what works best for you and embracing that style or strategy.
Thank you! I think we can all relate and I really appreciate you taking the time to suggest some ways out of a lull. It is nice to know that we are not alone in this and that it is ok to not always have new ideas. We can put a lot of pressure on ourselves even if this is supposed to be our ‘happy place’.
Sometimes creative slumps last VERY long times due to life and the needs of others. It is OK to put some of those things away and like you, they can come out with new inspirations and directions. NOt only that, sometimes things are half done already and the new inspirations complete them even better. Great to spend time with you and work on bonus inspirations, cleaning up, having fun and loving ourselves. Thank you, Cori!
I enjoyed all the tips, I'll definitely revisit this video as a inspiration when in a slump. Not so very long ago I was slumped - I started browsing old National Geographics at the thrift store. One had a fabulous tiger spread and one on India. It set the theme for an envelope journal in which I used a ton of coordinating scraps. Inspiration is all around if we are open to it. I love to "reorganize" as you suggested - sometimes kits come out of that. Be blessed 🌻🍄
Love the little Art journal and thank you for showing us another envelope technique. I hit a creative wall too often and I don’t usually play during the week so crafting time is very precious. I try to to do other things (tidy, reorganize, clean, etc.) just to stay in the craft room when that happens. 😘
Thank you Cori. I am experiencing this at present and I’m thinking I just did too much at one time. I signed up to make a mermaid journal, and as I love mermaids, I thought it would be a breeze. Not so! I have fiddled and procrastinated since the beginning of May the start date and nothing was coming together. I made a tassel, a couple of tags and envelopes but have got no further. I have a beautiful mermaid book so I’m off to read that to see if it will get me enthused. Then I will try some of your tips. Wish me luck. 💖
Thank you so much for the video & many insights. I first saw your ephemera organization/ ready to go items. So many ideas! I made a similar box & promptly filled it. In this video you showed your roladex, 15yr old idea book & current book. POOF! mind blown again! I have pics/folders on my phone but not hard copy, I want that! (So I will). but could you do a walk thru of those items? The rolodex is genius! Love it. I saw stuff in your book and just went wait, wait back up. I want to see that. so if you could do a walk-through like you do with a finished junk Journal. you know could be fast or slow so I can put it on my favorites and have it for inspiration that would be super. I love it! thank you so much. I hope that comes to pass. if not I'll have to rewatch this several several times. so I can get everything.
Thanks for this video. I love the little book and love Jibid too. I think she's the most important artist who's made journals. I have about twenty project containers lol. I've been trying to conquer them one at a time, but it becomes burdensome because . . . Oh! look! A squirrel!
Glad to find your video. Good stuff! I recently found some 35 year old bad underwater photos. I’m drawing the fish, rocks, etc. with moonlight gelli pens.
Hi! Found you through Gayle A. Retreat video. Enjoyed this video…I intend to try the little envelope today and find that beautiful Stamperia paper! Will look forward to viewing more of your videos for inspiration. I find that when neatening my craft space, I find projects that I want to revisit.
Hello Pamela and welcome! Gayle is just the best and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to spend time with her. I hope you find inspiration here and happy creating to you!
Thanks, Cori, for sharing. Very helpful. I especially like your idea books. And how well organized and beautiful they are, too. I hope you have a lovely day. God bless. Sue ❤
LOVE the Stamperia paper and your art journal. Also love your old Rolodex of ideas. Would enjoy a series of short, follow along videos to create one just like it, or one that caters to junk journals. 💖
What wonderful ideas! I even took notes! LOL I don't particularly have slumps, but, I believe I know why. I don't sell my artsy creations. I don't enter contests or challenges online. If I do, I rarely share my results. It's just that I do art strictly for myself. I like to try things. Some work and some don't. Because of this, I can always find plenty to do because I have no timeline, nor do I have to worry with any standards or restrictions(copyrights). However, I am still intrigued by your awesome ideas! Thank you! Su PS: I love your idea book! And, Jibid Neary is a wonderful artist!
Thanks Cori, so helpful. I get an idea start and loose direction then over think it and get overwhelmed. Love the book with pictures and ideas. Need to make one, and let my squirrel loose. 🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰🥰🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿
As always, a great video. CASE..I had always understood it to be...copy and SHARE everything. It was a principle of sharing ideas of inspiration so our craft could grow.
Hello Cori, thanks for sharing your ideas on what to do if your in a craft funk. I usually collage in my Art journal or stencil which are my 2 favorite things to do.
The irony of my mixed media expansion is that when I lost inspiration for painting, I would make collages. For me, collages were like playing. I loved flipping through magazines, cutting images, collecting pages with beautiful backgrounds or colors. I never felt stressed doing collage. It didn't take a gazillion supplies or tons of space. Now it's become a passion all its own that takes as much space as my watercolor or oil painting, and bunches of specialized supplies 😅
Brilliant ideas! I follow Ardeth, she’s very clever and also Sandy, she does some very sweet projects. I adore your little art themed booklet, it’s beautiful and I love Stamperia papers, they are always so beautiful. Thank you 👌🤩
This video came at a great time for me! Going on a girls weekend in June and making a fun junk journal for each of us. Although I have the fun activity ideas, the executions to the pages has been difficult. These tips will help! Thank you!
Just realized I've been doing this (sort of) for a long time but on my phone. I take screenshots of ideas that I want to try. I especially take note of who I got the idea from so I can go back and watch any vidoes they may have.
Oh My goodness that little art journal is everything!! love, love, love it! Thanks for this video you teach me so much every time I watch your videos. I watch them over and over.
@@CoriDahmen Oh wow that is fantastic! Funny I got of the train this evening, I was watching you tube on my way home and I thought, 'I am getting overwhelmed, I really should just re-watch Cori's Idea Book videos and make one to refer to'.
Hi Cori, I absolutely love this video! It sounds silly but there is comfort in your video..to know that everyone goes through this and you have such good ideas to just enjoy crafting without feeling incredibly inspired! Love it! And I am a firm believer in energy flows and when you are in your head, the energy gets stuck and for me to be creative I have to feel good so I totally understand what you mean by that! Sorry for bad grammar, English is not my native language 😉 Anyhow, will def be watching more of your vids because they are soooo fun and filled with wonderful ideas ❤️
Cori, that you so much for this. I have been going through a lot lately and I just can’t seem to keep my mind on crafting. These ideas are so helpful. Thank you 🙏 😊🥰
@@CoriDahmen Thanks, it's nothing really just my catalytic converter on my car was stolen. Just money, I don't have bombs going off outside and I don't have to evacuate my home so it's all good. Just stress, but it too will pass. Thank you for always sharing your amazing art with us!
Loved all the ideas! Still struggling to find time and energy to watch my UA-cam inspirational channels. Hope you’re almost out for summer. I have this coming week to go. I’ve been so excited to start summer because I’m tired but we had a scare with some boys arrested for wanting to hurt one of our schools with weapons. This happened a day after the north Texas shooting. So now there’s fear of all kinds that I’m sure you can imagine. I don’t think that we as teachers are confident going in to work this last week. And I know for sure our parents are going to have a hard time sending their kids to school after such a threat. Anyways, Cori, sorry about the off topic comment. Crafting is my happy place so I value crafting channels. Isabel, Texas teacher hoping to finish off this school year.
Oh Isabel. I am so very sorry! I can only imagine how tough it’s been for all the kids in all the schools in Texas. I think about the sweet learners observed in Midland and Odessa and my heart aches that this can take place. I’m praying for you. Know that you’re in my heart and that I wish you safety and peace ♥️
Cori this is a very helpful video, I do do some of the things mentioned, BUT the real fabulous one for he was the envelope I’ve a square napkin that I lined and have wanted to make it into a envelope…..Perfect and yes it turned out, what a game changer & so simple. Thank you for the demo 💕x
Organisation, organisation, organisation! I have introduced a transparent (so I can see what is in it) folder into my 'stash' storage system and labelled it "CORI SNIPPETS" .
Cori this is another great video full of wonderful ideas. I love the artist booklet and the “ruler” envelope. I enjoyed seeing your composition notebook idea book and your idea rolladex. So freakin smart. When I’m in a slump, I always rewatch some of your inspiring videos and then I’m good to go. You’re the best!
This was awesome. Jibed Neary was a huge inspiration for me, she does a lot of unique ideas and her work is impeccable. Your work is likewise very inspirational. I am so amazed at how much you can get into your journals. I recently made 40 thank you cards in a mostly giraffe theme and used glossy accents to highlight certain areas like you do. They turned out beautifully and are part of our baby shower gift for our great granddaughter coming in July. Thank you so much for sharing. Barb Pacific NW
Great granddaughter? How wonderful is that! Congratulations Barb and truthfully, I still go back and re-watch Jibid's videos. I always get a new idea from her 😊
Great video, friend! So excited to see what you decide to work on at the retreat! That Atelier booklet is fabulous! I have a feeling this girl is going to squirrel all over the place during our week together! 😂. I need to bring my entire craft room, so I have the materials to do whatever my pal, Cori, inspires me to do! Love and hugs! 🤗❤️
LOL! I'll bring Sigmund and Seymour and I'm sure they'll be happy to encourage our squirrel-ventures! I've been packing up UFO's, so I guess that will be my focus. I now need a canopy for my truck and a month long retreat to get the projects done! So looking forward to seeing you 😊

Outstanding video! Thanks for sharing your personal tips and also doing the research for us! :)

Thank you Julie. I've honestly thought about making a Rolodex for JJ's.... but idea books make more sense because of room for samples.
Thank you for all of the inspiration!
My pleasure 😊 and you're very welcome.
What wonderful ideas! I even took notes! LOL
I don't particularly have slumps, but, I believe I know why.
Thank you!
Su
PS: I love your idea book!
And, Jibid Neary is a wonderful artist!
Thank you and great reminder that art for the sake of art is a fabulous thing!
I'm a card carrying member of the Overthinkers Club. Set your squirrel free!!!
Great ideas Cori!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Wonderful ideas! Thank you
My pleasure Lorna!
As always, a great video. CASE..I had always understood it to be...copy and SHARE everything. It was a principle of sharing ideas of inspiration so our craft could grow.
I like your version much better! I learned it in the scrapbook world a really long time ago and it that was the acronym I lheard.
Inspirational to say the least Cori, loved everything ! Thank you
You're very welcome!
Hello Cori, thanks for sharing your ideas on what to do if your in a craft funk. I usually collage in my Art journal or stencil which are my 2 favorite things to do.
Reverting to favorite techniques and mediums is ALWAYS a great idea! Thank you Denise!
Very cool! A slump developed a new love and a fun creative outlet 😊
Great ideas! Thank you Cori!
You’re most welcome 😊
Thanks so much. We all have those day
Just amen.
I have been wanting to start a junk journal. I have all the things to make one but I have yet to put them all together.
Brilliant ideas! I follow Ardeth, she’s very clever and also Sandy, she does some very sweet projects. I adore your little art themed booklet, it’s beautiful and I love Stamperia papers, they are always so beautiful. Thank you 👌🤩
I enjoyed seeing Ardyth's video... I hadn't seen her before and Sandy does fabulous happy mail items. We are blessed with a great village!
This video came at a great time for me! Going on a girls weekend in June and making a fun junk journal for each of us. Although I have the fun activity ideas, the executions to the pages has been difficult. These tips will help! Thank you!
It makes me happy to hear t hat this video has helped you. I hope your retreat is fabulous 😊
Love this. Becareful w
Thank you Cori! This is super helpful. 🌷
You're most welcome Sylvia!
Cori, thank you for sharing these wonderful ideas. Love them! I took notes…lol.
LOL! I take notes all the time. I hope they help!
Just realized I've been doing this (sort of) for a long time but on my phone. I take screenshots of ideas that I want to try. I especially take note of who I got the idea from so I can go back and watch any vidoes they may have.
Super smart strategy! I tend to write them down then misplace what I wrote 😊
Oh My goodness that little art journal is everything!! love, love, love it! Thanks for this video you teach me so much every time I watch your videos. I watch them over and over.
Thank you Lisa. I have your version of the slide ephemera in my newer idea book. I appreciate your idea and that you shared it!
@@CoriDahmen Oh wow that is fantastic! Funny I got of the train this evening, I was watching you tube on my way home and I thought, 'I am getting overwhelmed, I really should just re-watch Cori's Idea Book videos and make one to refer to'.
This is so helpful Cori. I've been struggling for months! Thank you!
I hope the struggle ends very soon!
Hi Cori,
I absolutely love this video! Sorry for bad grammar, English is not my native language 😉
Anyhow, will def be watching more of your vids because they are soooo fun and filled with wonderful ideas ❤️
Thank you Sanne 💕
Cori, that you so much for this. I have been going through a lot lately and I just can’t seem to keep my mind on crafting. These ideas are so helpful. Thank you 🙏 😊🥰
Best wishes to you Nancy and I hope life smooths out soon for you 💕
@@CoriDahmen Thanks, it's nothing really just my catalytic converter on my car was stolen. Just money, I don't have bombs going off outside and I don't have to evacuate my home so it's all good. Just stress, but it too will pass. Thank you for always sharing your amazing art with us!
Cori, what a gorgeous Art is Everywhere! Journal! So special! Thanks for the useful ideas. From Cheryl in AZ
Thank you Cheryl. Honestly, that paper is a dream to use.
TY Cori for showing ways we can get our mojo back! 🥰
You are so welcome!
Very informative. I love Ardyth.
She seems amazing. I'm looking forward to watching more of her videos once school is out.
So happy to hear that it worked for you! And hmmmmm, I have a lot of napkins. Maybe I'll go make some envelopes with them 😊
Awesome video great ideas!
Thank you so much!! This is very helpful. 😍😊
Excellent. I’m happy to hear that it’s beneficial 😊
love your little book hope you do a video on how you make it thank you so much
Thank you Sandy. We will see 😊
thank you for replying
Organisation, organisation, organisation! I have introduced a transparent (so I can see what is in it) folder into my 'stash' storage system and labelled it "CORI SNIPPETS" .
Lol! I love it!!!
Thank you Karen and it is a lot of fun to cover composition books with napkin 😊
Excellent and very helpful tips, Cori! Your teaching talent really comes through in your videos. 🙂
Thank you. Your sweet comment just makes me smile 😊
I always get a new idea from her 😊
Beautiful little journal!
Thank you Miranda 😊
