Omg, just no. I heard this song on the radio twice in 88 and they never said who the artist was. I absolutely LOVED this song and was so determined to find out who played it. I was pregnant with my daughter in 88, water breaks about 3:00 am in the morning, I call my Dr and he says, come right in to the hospital. As soon as we pull up to the hospital this song comes on the radio again and I swear to God, I will not get out of the car until the songs over so I can find out who is singing this song! Well, they cut to a new song right away, I didn't find out that night anyway. So my unborn daughter heard this song at full volume right before she came into this world. I'm devastated to learn of his death, this song will always have a very special place in my heart. Rip special soul.
@@SuperSpectre1 Hi no. He was a good friend of one of my best friends, John VanWagnoer He came to Utah a few years ago invited by John to do a show. I played keys. It was such a blast An amazing weekend hanging out with him.
@@rstrong0208 That's just great, capt.Like my story. When I heard Red Blue Jeans, it was a bouncing moment! OMG ....... I'm from West Tennesse, just under an hour from Jackson, and MEMORY IN THE MAKING is quite simply one of the very best albums I've ever heard. I've been in Florida for seven years, and I just now stumbled on the information that John Kilzer passed away in 2019. I'm stunned and numb .... R.I.P.
John was my pastor and close friend I really loved the guy He always called me the coolest guy on the planet He helped me through so much in life I just wish I could hear him call me the coolest guy on the planet one last time. But now at least he’s at peace. RIP My friend I’ll really miss you
Our days are weighed on a scale of mercy , from the G-d of peace and love who considers our weaknesses and knows we all face death one day.May the friends lkke you live for what John sometimes couldn't for everything or everyone as he was just human. His legacy of love.
When I heard this song, I was just about to get out of the VA in Little Rock. Seems had this thing called, PTSD, from the Nam. I was driving toward Texas. Picked up the radio station from Shrevesport, LA.98.1. or 98.8, hell, long time. Sexy blond was the DJ. I knew of Kilzer from Memphis. The song made me start jumpin in my seat. I got to a payphone, and got the number too that station. I explained my situation to that hot dj. She played it for me twice on the way home. What memories, thanks JK.
Sorry for the late Condolences. I feel dumb for not knowing more of my Music Genre. I honestly had no Idea whom was the Name singing this song. I use to hear it in the Late 80's and early 1990's and haven't heard it for a very long time now. I Never knew his name. I was just having a memory lane visit and this song pop'd into my head , so I youtubed it and it got Me here. RIP Mr. Kilzer. I enjoyed your super energy with this and green Yellow red song.
I'll be forever grateful to a little record store called "East West Records and Tapes" for turning me onto John Kilzer and the awesome Memory in the Making album. Stopped in there to buy some concert tickets (yeah that was when you bought tickets at record stores and head shops before Ticketmaster Ruined it) and they were playing that album , Green, Yellow and Red track. If I hadn't stopped in there and they weren't playing his album I never would have heard of JK and totally missed out on one of the best albums of the late 80s!! Walked out with 2 concert tickets and a shiny new album!!
RiP.!.Watched him in Memphis basketball.and Rock n Roll in Memphis.(As a mentor and teacher as a English teacher and Rehap and minister. In Memphis. He lived a life the fullest!.
I'm from close to Memphis and my mother used to listen to John when I was a kid; I was little when this song came out. But I know every lyric!! She listened to it constantly. Memory in the Making and Busman's Holiday rock!! And look at his baby face- so cute.
I lived in Memphis and uses to hang out with John Kilzer some. It was a whole different world back then. I still keep up with a few of my Memphis friends from those days. Haven't seen John In years though.
I have been trying to find this to buy (the song or the entire CD) for weeks. God, I love this song!!! Is it just not available anymore? It needs to be. I think in the later 80s is when rock made a come back. It had a tough time thewre in the late 70s with the whole disco thing :-) GREAT SONG!!!!
This really wasn't my type of music back the the 80's, can't remember how I found out or who turned me on to John Kilzer. His album Memory in the Making is a great album, wore out 2 cassettes (before cd's) listening to it.
would love to see how far the lead solo went at the end, it was awesome, and it gets faded away volume wise, it doesnt actually end, the full version could of been epic

This song brings back so many memories. He should have made it big. He was also a very good basketball player. RIP John and Harry Peel Sr on drums.
Most underrated album in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.
Absolutly right !!!
