    I have always been a big fan of Whoopi Goldberg. Her stance on Bill Cosby since this all came to light made me very angry. I know she said the other day that she does NOT care what people like me, ( or anyone else), think. Unfortunate. I care very much about all of those women he victimized! I do not feel good about Whoopi Goldberg anymore. (My guess on this video is that her bosses at the network made her do this sit down with the legal expert to deflect the criticism her previous segments caused.)

    I disagree with this man. The women should've come forward sooner so that physical evidence can be used to strengthen their rape case. Too many men have been convicted of rape and DNA evidence exonerated them of the crime. That is costly to the taxpayers and the exonerated man cannot recoup his time in prison.

    • @keynanabear
      @keynanabear 6 років тому +3

      Dwayne Jeffers it is NOT easy to come forward after being raped. It is so easy for ppl to say that, but if you haven't been through it you'll never understand. And I pray it doesn't happen because it's something that is stuck with you forever.

    • @dwaynejeffers1632
      @dwaynejeffers1632 6 років тому +1

      Keyanna Hardeman like I said before if you are a victim. It is better to come forward because of physical evidence associated with the alleged crime not this decades later complaining crap about being raped.

    • @keynanabear
      @keynanabear 6 років тому +3

      Dwayne Jeffers and again....that easy for you to say. I don't even expect you to understand

    • @dwaynejeffers1632
      @dwaynejeffers1632 6 років тому +1

      Keyanna Hardeman let me break this down for you. If Cosby did rape all of those women. The very first victim wallowing in her pity allowed a man to continue raping and victimizing other women. Think about that while you feel the victim's pain.

    • @keynanabear
      @keynanabear 6 років тому +2

      Dwayne Jeffers there were ppl that cane forth when it first happened and they were hushed and blacklisted. They lost their careers. I'm not just feeling sorry for the victim's I feel their pain and I understand exactly what they're going through. I been there. So I'll say this as many times as I have to.... you have NO IDEA what it's like nor what you wouldn't or wouldn't do. It's easy to say though when it isn't you in the situation. Look at how ppl are treating them even now, it would've been worse back then

Does she understand that it is the prosecutor who has a case to prove and not the accused? She doesn't believe the garbage she spews, she's either having this conversation because her higher-ups are making her, or she's trying to cover up for her own bad behavior. And let me be clear. I also believe in every person's right to a fair trial before guilt is determined. What I don't agree with is Whoopi's victim blaming and behavior on the show which was absolutely disgusting.

    Growing up in England, Whoopi Goldberg was my favourite actress. I have tremendous respect for her, but she dealt with this really badly. I can understand, considering the horrific things that have been done to black people historically, and the prejudice that still goes on today, that you don't want to attack someone that was seen a pargon of virtue amongst the black community. But if you don't, it creates its own massive problems. It doesn't lead to equality. It leads to such notions as "black people can't be racist", or "black people can't be criticised". "White people are the wicked ones" etc etc. No - what we must surely realise, and need to be heading to, is that every human on the planet has the potential to do both wonderful and awful things. As a society, we must all try to be better, and not create saviours on either side of the coin, and see some level of nuance in every situation. This man was a monster, and he should be punished, just as all the white men who did similar crimes before him should be.

    Well, at least I am glad to see that Whoopi has backed off her earlier position that Cosby was "innocent" because under the law, a person is "innocent until proven guilty." People often start thinking more seriously about their statements when there is a threat to their wallet or career.
    This video makes me think of Sam Harris' concept of "conversational pressure." In other words, when someone makes a ludicrous statement (such as, "911 was due to the advance of gay rights in America" or "Hurricane Katrina was Poseidon's revenge for the world turning its back on him"), that person should feel immediate "conversational pressure" to justify these statements or else he is marginalized as irrational at least on a certain topic.

    It goes to show you how very little we know about people even when we might consider them to be friends. You can hide a lot of who you are behind the mask of talent, charm, fame, money, etc,. After hearing the allegations from his victims, it seems quite clear that he did these things intentionally and thought so much of himself that never once did he ever consider his wife and children, not to mention his friends and those who worked with him. That says more about him than what he has to say in his own defense. Actions speak louder. For those who were victims of sexual assault and victims today, come forward and tell your story so that others won't be next in line. You might never work in Hollywood, but what a small price to pay for helping someone else out. Speak out!

    Whoopi shouldn't reside at legal-like interviews - especially as she spews such ignorance of the law, like where she adamantly states: "Every woman who does come though should be able to take her accuser (duh? do you mean abuser?) to court and make him prove the he's innocent."' (2:12). WRONG! Folks are innocent in this country until proven guilty. It's not up to the accused to prove he's innocent.

    So there is no rape kit done. All of them were afraid to come forward in a timely manner. The message you send is, if they say you did it, you did. So men have no defense from these type of allegations. All of those women came one after the other based off the first woman's testimony. All of their allegations are questionable and I believe to be falsified because they see the opportunity based on one accuser opening the door. Just because they said it doesn't make it true.

    • @dooley8746
      @dooley8746 4 роки тому +1

      Most of these happened before rape kits existed or became standard procedure in rape accusations. Some of them actually did go to the police right away and were turned away.

    Wait a minute, let say they removed stature of limitation on rape. What if you were 10 years old and was dating your classmate. You both were intimate. Then 20 years later, that same girl can charge his former boyfriend for rape because she could not have given consent then. Basically it can be used as life long blackmail. That is bogus.

I hope one day it will all be cleared and I pray for him and his family for strength and courage . His an 80 yrs. old man we can’t judge a person only God can judge us! And to all the woman who accuse him I hope you will open your mind and heart . Why only now you go out public after 30+ yrs. I’m just curious it’s either justice or money they seeking don’t get it twisted? Because you won’t go this far if you know you won’t get anything Especially if your suing is a millionaire who is old and blind for my opinion .

Funny how Whoopi, an intelligent person at the end of the day, drove herself into this silly corner. The silly corner in which she has to pretend she had never heard od statute of limitations. All in all, it looks like she was made to change her stance. Which is good.

    I do wish that Dan Abrams had been given a chance to point out that any expansion/elimination of the criminal statute of limitations for rape in the states where these incidents allegedly took place would not affect the ability of prosecutors to pursue charges against Cosby. The US Supreme Court has held that the expansion/elimination of criminal statutes of limitation cannot revive criminal liability in cases in which the prior SOL has already expired, as such an expansion would violate the Ex Post Facto Clause of the US Constitution. However, such changes would help past victims of such crimes in which the SOL has not yet expired. States are free, however, under current Supreme Court jurisprudence, to revive civil claims in which the civil SOL has expired.

    Not exactly. ABC made Goldberg do this on the air segment. ABC was prepared to fire Goldberg. This has been a cushy position for {overrated) Goldberg. It is an easy job and she gets a BIG paycheck. She did this to keep her job. I wish they had fire her. I never cared for her. She has made one good film "Ghost". and that's it! Rosie O'Donnell is far better choice to be on "The view" . Rosie is NOT stupid.

    I don’t have a problem with women coming out whenever they feel ready (if they have evidence that the crime was committed) but I do feel like once you collect a check and sign a statement that you won’t seek criminal prosecution then you shouldn’t be allowed to come back years later and file criminal charges.

      cynthianhoj Yes, she said it loud and clear to her audience and viewers she didn't give a "rats ass" to hear their thoughts/opinions that didn't agree and were not on the same page as hers in believing Cosby was innocent.!! Today with Dan Abrams/ABC's legal analyst as her guest. She not only proved and confirmed what I have said about her from the get go. The woman is ignorant and lack s all knowledge of the law and she throws her crap against the wall to see if it will stick. She spews or should say shoves down her audience and viewers throats/NOT ME ANY MANY OTHER'S. Her ridiculous defense to justify her ignorance as "SHE THOUGHT! " SHE THOUGHT!" An intelligent person would research "the laws" before they/she started her raving maniac, wild woman from Borneo defense of Cosby. Her defense of Cosby was "WHY HASN'T HE BEEN ARRESTED IF HE IS GUILTY?" HER IGNORANCE OF THE LAW IN NOT KNOWING ABOUT THE "STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS" IS PATHETIC/PURE IGNORANCE. Her defense when talking with Abrams was "SHE THOUGHT" THAT RAPE CASES WERE ALWAYS OPEN FOR LAW SUITS AND COURT." Dah! SHE THOUGHT? What in the hell kind of defense is "she thought."? How dare this woman and how dare ABC allowing this woman to prove her point that Bill Cosby is innocent with only "HER THOUGHTS"?? An intelligent, well read, educated talk show host would have done their homework, research on the laws that are protecting Cosby. Shouldn't they have a responsibility to their viewers/audience? This show has become so racist..Goldberg, Perez. Symone all RACE BAITERS with Nicole Wallace's nose up Whoopi's you know what. I think Wallace's husband is on unemployment :) I have been laughing all day knowing that old Whoopi is eating her big black crow for dinner tonight..WISE UP ABC..GET THIS SHOW OFF THE AIR..THE VIEWTITANIC has been sinking for several years and their "ain't" no life boats or life jackets to save The View.

      DDumbrille You know what she pissed me the hell off but here's the thing. I myself being a victim thought the same thing! I made 2 videos on my rape case and I had to forwarded elsewhere now. There's no promise I'll get ant help. But no way would I have sided with Bill in this crap. All I care about is she finally got it. Just makes this stuff so much worse. I'm glad they said what to do. Just a matter of finding out who to write to. We should gather all the addresses from state to state so victims and everyone else changes this fucked up system. I have many things I can not get justice for similar nature. My career was totally fucked up from similar stuff. Not even remotely funny dealing with opposition. Plus as she said it should be them proving they did not because if you lay out the actual facts very little go to jail. Tiny % of any wrong doing which happens in any kind of cases but when you have like 97% roaming free the justice system is fucked up. It's not working. MOST victims come out far later that is the MAJORITY so the laws go against the majority. I was underage with both my things. I should mention LE and da's office were not kind to me. They also refused to even investigate it.

      This is why they are called paths because they leave a path of destruction. The actors are victims to his actions too.
