- Meet Evan, a designer here at ECS Tuning, he has a problem... he caught the mod bug and decided to embrace it taking his VW MK5 R32 from a proper AWD winter vehicle to a low aggressive built to be driven car.

Chef Nat I wanted one ever since owning my first car, which was a MK5 2.0 FSI Sport Edition in this exact grey metallic color. Not a fast car that was, but quick enough, nimble and super fun to drive. Back then I was daydreaming about how fun a R32 would be, with loads more power and AWD. I‘ve since owned a A3 2.0 TDI Quattro and a B8 A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro, but I always still like to think back to my MK5 and would still love the idea of buying a R32 one day

@Evan Pickard Make it happen! Some tips, before you get one though make sure it has extensive good service history. There's a lot of them that are beat up pretty good and will be money pits if not taken care of properly. Best of luck and have it thoroughly inspected
I never had an R32. But I had a VR6 Jetta and this has me missing that thing lol

The first gen DSG with a remap is no joke. Very tuneable and can hold lots of power

LOVE this! I use my R32 for everything and it handles Utah snow perfect! I definitely have some of the same mods.
This is goals right here!! I currently have a mk5 r32 in this color, but that lip kit and rear diffuser make it look so much more aggressive! Love the wheels man! And sounds amazing too!

A fucking R32 AS A WINTER BEATER??!!! This is litterally my fucking dream car!!! They are SOOOO expensive here in denmark, i drive a dsg mk 6 gti today, but i really want a R32 badly!
I own #1430 and it's the most fun I've ever had with a car. It's perfect for a fun daily driver but if you decide to push it, she'll turn into a beast instantly. Very reactive to how you want to drive it and can handle whatever you want from it

I sold my R32, have a 97 GTI VR6 project in my garage now. I’ve been slowly pouring $$ into it, extra cash is my biggest barrier.

I have a mk5 gti, my right hid housing has a short in it honestly surprised he didn’t have the same problem
I also own one with upgraded exhausts. No Golf turn heads like Mk5 R32. I still drive people crazy with this car
It's a beautiful machine.
Mine is completely straight piped, with headers & cams. Let’s just say I’ve gotten a few complaints and been pulled over a few times for it 😂😂😂

I have a MK5 R32 as well. Had it for about 5 months now. Just trying to fix her up before I start modding. Although, my exhaust is resonated so quite quiet when your not pushing it. It's my daily and half of my commute is in a 70mph speed limit, and I couldn't handle the droning of a non res system. It still sounds awesome though when your going for it! But civilised when I'm driving past my neighbours.

This exhaust, an E46 M3 exhaust and the old Acura NSX are the best sounding 6 cylinder engines...period.
I would swap the tail lights to the darker cherry red lights. They would fit the grey colour much more. All in all a beautiful car.
I personally think the mk5 brighter oem tail lights are the nicest, even between the cherry red and oem
I've waited for 10 years to be finally able to ship an R32 from USA to my country, while this guy bought is as a winter beater...
Anyways, I know myself that it's an awesome car, it was my dream since it came out, now I'm a proud owner of one, too! This one is modified really tastefully, really love it! Cheers!

I want air intake, long tubes and free flow cats but California says no. :( I ended up doing similar exterior mods instead fitted the maxton rabbit Splitter and did Street Aero Sideskirts but there same rear diffuser with a blue Flake to try and match my paint. All in all long live the R32 and ECSTuning for helping me with all my maintenance needs.

Can the chrome front end bumper/grille/cover thing from an r32 or gli fit on nornal GTI's? I think it would look great on mine with the chrome like aluminum rims i got on. Wonder if its a perfect match and fit. Then again it seems like youd need to completely swap out the bumper if anything. Bcz id just want the chrome accent around the grille.
Except oft the front bumper to fender gap i really like it great job, and the diffusor is a little weird

I own dsg r32 with rear muffler delete 19 inch ava memphis alloys in black, blacked out windows in the r colour purpley blue, sounds awesome but retains the oem look
Which headers is the car running? I have a mk2 Audi TT 3.2 (same BUB engine as a R32) and I have been looking for headers for it, open to suggestions - front exhaust parts meant for a R32 should be a direct fit from what I have learned. I fitted a Milltek non-resonated cat-back earlier this year but it would still need some more growl.
I think I came across those back when I was looking for the exhaust options early this year.
Needs a supercharger and it'd be perfect. For me , the wookie is awesome but I think it's one of two cars that actually don't need much done to make the car louder. Imo his is too loud

I also have a United R😁 getting wrapped for Christmas tho. Milltek headers or supersprint? Also how are the HF cats holding up to the spark cut? I wanna get some headers but not sure if I wanna spend the money on cats just to have them melt. I also have supersprint cat back but cant seem to find a way to go catless for supersprint headers here in the US

@Evan Pickard awesome car btw! I gotta figure out something for seats at some point. My shoulders are too wide for the factory seats lol kinda get thrown around the cabin
hello, do you do the reprogramming for a stage 2 in a golf R32 mk5 2008?
Can someone please point me in the direction of those Michelin tires? I’ve got an r32 myself and can’t find colored lettering tires anywhere.
Looked at these for a winter beater, too but they're just too damn expensive for that. I think I'm gonna go with a Golf IV 2.8 4motion instead...
I also got an mk5 r32 and an mk4 2.8. And besides the louder sound of the R and a more rear biased haldex awd it really is pretty similar

What are the wheel specs and alignment numbers?
Please if you don’t mind sharing? Just bought a MK5 so I’m curious on what I’m able to run with out harming the fenders etc.
Sorry for this being so late lol hit alignment is near stock (since stock is pretty perfect for these) and the wheel spec is 18x8 et42 with a 225/40/18 tyre

What are the specs on those wheels?
The one thing i hate about this car is the front splitter skirts and diffuser. I think any parts in these areas ruins the loook. Remove them and car would be perfect in my eyes

It’s a VW lol and I don’t chase high HP. But to the wheels when we dynoed it, it was 221hp and trq. Handles better than most for sure tho 👍🏻

well mk5s don't really handle winter too well so probably for the better, source: virtually all mk5s are super rusty in norway because of being driven in the winter

What is the most reliable way to increase power in my N/A 4 cylinder N43 engine? Im looking to gain only 30-55hp in my 120i E82, the car has very low mileage. Cold air Intake?
We didn't get the N43 here in the USA, but a quality intake and exhaust upgrade are always a great way to increase the smiles per mile of any car!
I already have a BMW performance exhaust on it but its just the rear section... Car is very reliable especially without turbo & I've got it to 245kph on the Autobahn.

I would also change the headlights and taillights with some smoked ones. The taillights especially: carDNA ones, they're like the last shit of LED technology by how it looks..

I couldn't be more opposite. 10 years strong as a daily. Through freezing Canadian winters, stupid hot sun in summer, this car has always been exposed to the elements and never had a single issue. I do baby the car and take crazy care of it though
You need to maintain it well, to have it reliable. That's the rule for every car, especially german cars.
The one thing I made sure my girl had was the best lube. I fed her crap gas and flogged her on the regular. She never got sideways on me and boy I pushed her. IGN coil overs a waterpump ,tires, brake pads and rotors cuz I had a bad mechanic tell me I didn't need pads then proceeded to put the driver's side caliper retaining clip in halfway. On the bright side I can now do quality brake work on my own. No need to get ripped off by asshole come-upsters. Anyway my point is she was a bad ass bitch that had my back if I needed to be somewhere in a hurry! Miss you baby. Her name was Eva Brawn. 😉🇧🇪
