I have searched for a high gain pedal for my single coil guitars, I have purchased and sold about 50 over the years, and the second I got the Walrus Eras I was blown away. For high gain distortion it is the king, for years I settled on the Filaments, but the Eras dethroned it.
I was looking for higher gain sounds recently but went for the Walrus Iron Horse instead because the Eras sounded worse in UA-cam videos. The small time they played it in this video made it sound amazing by comparison!
IDEA. a versus video where Lee, Chappers, Rabea, and Pete all have to build a board, but the twist is each player is randomly assigned a genre. So, 1 punk board. 1 Metal board. 1 Blues board and 1 classic rock board and at the end we do a comparison and jam. Those don't have to be the Genres but still I think it's a solid idea. Everyone should have an equal budget as well.
I love that everyone seems to do the same thing when building a pedalboard: Sits criss-cross-apple-sauce on the floor and swaps pedals out wondering "is this *really* the way I want to go this time around?" lol
Maybe not folks who don’t have a massive pedal collection with 3 kinds of compressors, 5 kinds of overdrives etc .. the rest of us buy one thing online and hope for the best, then end up selling it on reverb rinse repeat
When Pete wears his glasses he looks just like a friend of mine that past away too soon, but that pink sweatshirt really seals the deal. Makes me smile fondly.
I went thru the same thing with Browne Carbon. Including with a Tele, but if you put a Strat thru the Carbon it's a done deal. You can even hear bell like chime from the low E and A string. The Carbon just doesn't just suggest transparent it literally is. I spent easily over $1200 buying than reselling pedals to eventually find the Carbon.
I'd really like to see this episode using the Pantheon how it's meant to be used. Starting with the presence off. This is a wonderful, wonderful bluesbreaker pedal and it keeps getting mis-used in these videos. I'd love to see it featured, used correctly, with Pete's playing. You would sell these out!

Tips for the Wampler Pantheon - both toggle switches down, and Presence control all the way anti clockwise as explained by Brian Wampler. Bass and treble as required but 12 o’clock works great, and then slowly being up the gain to taste. This gives you a fantastic low gain “Bluesbreaker” tone. Do this and I guarantee you’ll love that pedal Lee!
Andertons and TPS both have never comprehended the Pantheon. I've never heard them get a good sound from it. Everyone else does. These guys just always seem to get a boxy sound, then a screech and move on.
If i'm not wrong, inside the Xotic SP compressor, when you open the case, there are 4 more things you can adjust. I don't know how they are called, but you can see them. Try it out!

My ODR1 is set low gain, tumnus gainy/boost, blue side of the protein for the bluesbreaker cleanish thing, green side mid gain and the revival at the end just stacks so well with everything.
