2016 Cadillac CTS-V - (Track) One Take

- The CTS-V is the best American car you can buy right now, period. It may cost $90,000 as tested, but it is fundamentally a bit of nice leather, computers and suede sitting atop a chassis and drivetrain of a pro-grade drift machine. We absolutely love it.
Matt has driven Ferraris, Lambos, Vipers, GTRs, Vettes, and many other cars and I've never seen him THIS excited, impressed, and happy before. And out of all things it's a Cadillac sedan with 640 hp! Not the coupe but the sedan! How things have changed!
The CTS-V. A Hellcat in a business suit.
+DirtDude117 Ooooh. Never thought about it like that. Nice comparison!
+DirtDude117 A 4 door Ultra Luxury Corvette. :P
how does business suit mean it can handle? more like a hellcat powerplant in a good car.
It's a Hellcat that can handle and has much greater luxury and refinement. It is certainly down on power, it is down on weight too and much more well rounded. The new price is significantly more than a HC, these Vs are already under $60k used if you know where to look...
More like a four door corvette. Hellcat doesn turn
That car is just absolutely beautiful. It's everything you could ever want, luxury, technology, and the fastest sedan. I have a normal cts but I still love my car. Cadillac is setting the standard for everything. The cts is arguably the best luxury mid size sedan, the escalade is the best luxury suv as well.
Havent seen Matt have this much fun in car in a while. Lucky SOB
I love all your videos but I think this was one of the only times I've been truly envious watching you drive.
+highwaystar1009 Right? for gods sake matt!
BanDiGo Zero fucks.
Ever since drift school, you seem to be a LOT more comfortable with oversteer. This one-take was awesome! Thanks for the videos, Matt.
He has a fox body and a c5 vette, he better be comfortable with oversteer
+JKU lab I've just never seen him throw either of those into oversteer, that's all :p His mustang is definitely setup for a lot of cornering grip, same with his Corvette if i'm not mistaken
+Roads Untraveled becuse the CTS-V isn't his ;)
one of the most exciting videos Matt has ever filmed. His love for this car translates so well the connections we humans have, to our automobiles
Matt is usually extremely critical of cars (and rightfully so, it's his job), so to hear such high praise for the CTS-V must mean it really is incredible.
+TheStallion234 it's amazing. I didn't want to give it back. If I had $90k to spend on a daily driver, I'd already own one.
I've had zero issues w/ CUE in my 2016 Escalade.... I love the CTS-V
Journalist are just spoiled brats man. They wanr everything tailored towards them even though customers often dont agree. Hence why the cars they love never sell well. CUE is wonderful. Its not complicated. Its simple enough for anyone who has a smart device. Now CUE has been reported to crash before. Which GM addressed. But outside of that. Everyone cries cept Mart Muran
Wish they made a wagon still.
+SoCalSupercars 1000% yes
wagons are so amazing...
+SoCalSupercars
jesus christ, this car as a wagon? Sell it in europe and actually get some cadillac traction over there
There Back!
Cadillac is love Cadillac is life
As a Euro/JDM fanboy i have to say this car is so cool and finely refined. I've never been a fan of these 'bulky' NA type sedans, maybe cause where i live these are not common. I've never driven one so i've never actually said a bad thing about them. But i have to say after watching this video, for 91,000$ this is a bargain. I would get one if it ever comes to the market where i live. Kudos to you Matt Farah, kudos.
Have been watching these One Takes since you started them and this one may be the best yet. Havent seen you have this much fun in a car ever
I don't know why people are thinking that it's not Matt drifting. You can easily tell he's the one drifting by how he's managing the steering wheel.
Looks like you're having a blast, Matt! lol I was laughing along with you.
You are obviously a pretty damn good driver. I'm a bit older at 54, and have had high performance cars since my teens, but know my limitations. I don't give it the beans like I used to, but I love this car. I have had a 1988 Mustang GT, a 1988 Corvette Z51, a 1991 Corvette ZR-1, and currently enjoy a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V. I am considering a 3rd gen CTS-V, maybe a 2016. Wow, thanks for the video!
Finally, someone who just wants to drive the heck out of the car and have fun with it, thanks.
Dude Matt. I don't think I have witnessed you having that much, almost breathless, fun! Awesome ride.....
And a full grown man can enjoy the Caddy, unlike the Lambo. lol
Reminding me of the good old Chris Harris days, great video
This is one of the very few + sized cars that stiffens the ole' member.
And thanks for so many great 1-takes, Matt. You're the the man.
I love Matt letting that inner child come out. So much joy! #goals
First time I have ever seen Matt driven by a car. And absolutely man handled. Awesome clip!
That drift was pretty darn rad. The car sounds pretty darn good.
Based on this review, well also my hours and hours of research, I am buying a Cadillac CTS-V loaded! Thanks Matt for the chuckles :)
I'll be honest that I'm not the biggest Matt Farrah fan, but this video was a lot of fun to watch. It looked like you were having a blast and I think it's awesome you did this video just for fun. I love watching videos of Dave Leone from Cadillac talking about the V cars. You can tell he is a true driver and his engineering team is just incredible. Most of them are racers and it shows in their products.
Matt, be honest, I know that "little cut" was a real butt pucker moment at about 115 mph !! haha!
He was going FAST in the S. He almost bought a new car lol.
+Eric Karacsonyi He handled the section just after that very well, too. He stayed in the pocket and kept the momentum going with some nice subtle corrections. It's cool watching you continue to improve, Matt!
+qikqbn77 I took the WRX line there.
+DMCLN not doubting his handling of it. Just lesser men wouldn't lol.
+TheSmokingTire Dude! You kept it cool, calm, and collected, Bravo!! I was looking at those skid marks that go straight off track at the next kink and had a pucker moment myself just watching. Great driving, super fun and you giggled like a manly girl many times ;^)
FR layout sedans with big engines seem to be more and more appealing... that oversteer and the way you control it, is like art.
Hey Matt I think there's some ghosts riding with you lol!
why the fuck did they do that -.- his oversteer looked beautiful I would like to see the ACTUAL matching scenes. maybe they ran out of battery for the outside camera.
At 6:37 when he is drifting their is a guy in the back with his hand out lol, but the inside camera footage shows no one even when he is hitting curves hard no one sways in the back! So you can't say "the guy was hiding behind the seats"
@@ericinfante1885 ik i was like what the heck lol
My God I want this car. It looks so fun to drive.
This is the perfect car for an old guy why wants a corvette but has the wife nagging in his ear about how he can't take the kids and dog in it too soccer practice.
This car is so much better than a corvette
+DNALI fuck that. it's the perfect car. (well, other than the transmission)
+TheSmokingTire much better. Except the looks.
No, it’s for the successful 50+ dude who took his kids to soccer 20 years ago. It’s for the guy who had a Chevelle SS in high school or maybe a Dodge Challenger or a GTO. Or a ‘69 Mach 1. This car is amazing. All cudo’s to GM and their head engineer (can’t remember his name. He was on Jay Leno’s garage). This car is why we work so hard, and why life is worth living.
It's so crazy to look at the sky and see all the geoengineering/Chemtrails going on. Insane. Fun video, looked like a blast!
there's alot of sand spots on the track that I see here and there! AN I must say that the drift that you did was superb, just perfect and awsume!!!!!
Great driving skills your even better now since 5 years
I got to say Matt,u have the best gig.I watched this vid on my 72 in Samsung tv and I wanted to Jump through the screen and drive that thing. That looked like a blast.👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻✌🏻️✌🏻✌🏻
7:08 maniacal drifting laugh :}
This is one of your most entertaining videos ever. Great to see you loving the car!
Haven't seen you have so much fun in a car in a while! That beast must be true enjoyment!
Around the 3:15 mark when you said, "Look at the back end just move around," I was expecting a camera shot pointed backward showing it break loose.
I'm not sure if it's in the budget but an extra camera pointing backwards would be a sweet shot to be able to throw in from time to time.
Cadillac supercar. Who would have ever imagined THAT back in the day?
The only thing this video really needed would have been a lap or two with all assists on and then the driving without.
I think part of the reason why it drifts so easily going into corners is because as soon as you lift off the brakes, you have SO much momentum that is being shifted forward (it weighs 4200lbs) that its almost impossible that it doesn't rotate. I guess a pro to being a porker hahaha
A GT4, 370Z or any car between 2900lbs to 3400lbs would never do this unless you are brutal with your braking. Which makes it even more amazing when you see Chris Harris back a Mclaren P1 into a corner with nearly full opposite lock.
Regardless, great driving skills and as usual great video!
I like when he drifts out on the 180 turn they used a different video of a full car instead of Matt.
+James Lovett he talked about this on the podcast, it's matt, just from a different session later in the day.
It is me, I was giving drift taxi rides later in the day and we used that shot
+Rebel Rhymes give it a rest
+Rebel Rhymes The review is, as always, done in one take, and the drive-by shots are done separately. When we do the drive-by shots on the road reviews, that's not even me driving. The owners are driving their cars for those shots.
@@TheSmokingTire if you have explained it in a podcast or addressed it elsewhere then you don't really need to explain it on ur comments feed. Simply put a caption in the video saying "different shot" or "different clip" anything similar to that and you will save yourself some drama.
one of the most exciting cars i have seen you drive
not many cars I would trade my current ride for. but this is one of them. if i was rich.
+Fappolice hell naw. that would be a pointless upgrade when you talk about switching cars. if i switch, i would need a MUCH better car. but sort of agree, i would not buy an STI until it got the new motor if you were considering it.
Watching You learn how this Caddy drifts was a real treat. Think it surprised you a little bit. I almost want to say that the better the car oversteers- and then managing that oversteer with authority is the litmus for how fricking awesome a car can be.
Street cars are notoriously tricky on the entry. I've never driven any other street car that's this easy to initiate and control a slide. Feels like a FD chassis with leather
Props to you Matt.
I really liked seeing you go balls to the wall with the car.
I really liked how you explained everything and made me feel.
This car seems to be fantastic. Id love to have one, shame I live in EU and cant buy/afford it.
AMG-Hammer invented this market segment and the CTS-V has perfected it. The M5 has always been precise with clinical execution, but if you want a wild ride, you know where to go.
+NIAtoolkit I really wish I bought a Hammer 5 years ago when they were $50k.
just nice seeing you have some real fun, new tyres required for next driver lol😎
Farah pulled out his inner chris harris in this one
I was thinking the same thing hahaha
+Dean Kostopoulos Hmm... I don't know if I would call him on par with the monkey just yet, definitely more comfortable with it though.
Love how a vehicle can make you laugh with so much joy!!!
I don't think I've ever seen matt so excited. Giggling like a little kid haha.
Matt, I'm never disappointed in your videos.
Thanks for the video Matt....this will be my next car!!
Wow.! Amazing vehicle what a drift king. I love this car. Great video.
I'm a hardcore BMW fan and I'd have trouble choosing an M5/M6 over this. Such an incredible car!
I'm so sold on this magnificent beast.
I got to drive both models at COTA. Fantastic cars.
I never would have imagined they would drive so well.
I had the same issues with the tires, they kept spinning ;-)
+CncObsession Agreed! I got to drive both at COTA as well and now own the CTS-V and can't get enough of it! Such a bad ass car!
GM's engineers took notes from BMW's of old, hence why their chassis is as good as it is.
yes, and now GM is dominating BMW in every aspect of driving
+Jason “downhillx” S yes, but sadly won't beat the audi RS7. ;(
Jason S maybe so, just like how BMW and Mercedes took note of Cadillac when it was the Standard of the World.
Im sure i saw two persons in the car coming out of that first drift
You saw four people in the car. I got the exterior shots while doing drift taxi rides
Kk
+TheSmokingTire BAHAHAHA
+TheSmokingTire If you can, you should do a video entirely consisting of you drifting a car like this around a track for 5-10 mins.
A track drift one take of sorts. Would be great to watch. I know you did some drifting here but forcing it into oversteer every corner instead :^)
Guess it's all about the edit
It looks like such a fun car with so many uses.
I've owned my 2019 V for a year now and the od reads 1019miles. Honestly, I have loved every mile of it! This beast is absolutely so much fun to drive and the luxury doesn't disappoint. I agree with the CUE comments.
I love taking it to my local car meets as there are no others like mine. People stop by to ask what it is because honesly, these cars are far and few between. I do however, think Cadillac has gone backwards with the new CT-5V. Calling it a V is seriously a disappointment. IT IS NOT A V! My old ATS 3.6 would give it a hard time.. Anyone who owns an CTSV knows what I'm talking about.I'm pretty sure that is going to change as I hear they most likely will bring back the 6.2.
Anyways, I love watching this video as I can see so much potential that my car has to offer without actually abusing it. Regardless of everyone's negative comments, Matt at least takes the time to provide useful information in his videos that otherwise I would not have normally known about. Thank you Matt!
The driving reminds me of a Toyota Chaser in Japan, one of my favorite 4 door drift cars of all time.
Mine too
+TheSmokingTire Another great job Matt!!!
+TheSmokingTire Move to Canada, Then you can import on ;)
Little cut?! Lol. What a cool car.
Oh boy, that thing seems like a hell lot of fun - and it's a really good looking car aswell!
+Tretboot5 And i was not at all disappointed by the fat man sliding :D
This was a very awesome One Take, I loved the drifts.
lol " A little fast for the kink, don't you think?"
That was awesome.
AN just how u can catch the And control the flow up with the back end coming out and controlling it is GREAT!!!
5:21 The tire smoke still hasn't dissipated from the tail-out show on the previous lap!
ya... give it maybe 3 years best used car value out there, simply amazing car.
after a long crappy day at work to come home, crack a nice cold one and watch this video... all better :) Great Video !!
Best car video love the way you put that car to the test great job.
Like a kid in a candy shop 😂😂😂 I love it
I've never seen you have so much fun.
GM's got some good engineers
I bought one 2 months ago, it's an incredible car!
I'm a total Cadillac fanboy. that ctsv is awesome. I think I'll be looking into a 1st gen in the spring.
+xFyLxARMORY The first-gen CTS-V is an oft-overlooked bargain. You can pick them up for peanuts.
+TheSmokingTire You fit much better in the CTS-V than in the Lamborghini Aventador SV :-D Keep up the good work!!
This is the best vid you've ever done
Awesome video! I was smiling and drooling the whole time. Lol WOW!!
Just plowed that apex on the first lap at the end of the strait, love it.
Such a nice car! I don't know why you americans like to waste money on euro cars, not that they are bad, but hell, you have such good ones, with so much power and so cheap (in price and very high quality) and they look good.
You have hellcats in every size and shape, corvettes, vipers, mustangs, this cadillacs, truck models that would fill the Netherlands.
I just wished GM would come to europe, but I guess this big ass engines would make a cheap car, supercar priced. Maybe when you start to make twin turbo V8's that don't have ridiculous emissions.
I believe the Ctsv in track mode and auto is a track monster, no sliding and under control.
My next daily driver. Looks fun to drive, like my current V wagon. Thanks for testing it out! Reminder to self though....avoid press cars for purchase. :)
Awesome review. It's nice to see GM holding its own with some of the best in the World.
Really liked all cars go to heaven! Any plans for the next one?
holy shit you and caswell nailed it. friggin optimus prime. Hotel fiesta awesome podcast too. well done.
Totally agree with you on the new V. I test drove one and immediately listed my 2013 V for sale and bought one. Only thing I didn't get was the Recaro seats as they aren't cooled only heated.
yeah whats weird is that the recaros in the camaro zl1 are both cooled and heated, so why wouldn't gm offer that on their flagship luxury high performance sedan??? its beyond me and its the only screw up i think
I'll start saving money now.
...That corolla will be there for you.
+kma198199 Corolla? Sure. I'll take an 86.
+kma198199 Mr. Regular would agree. Semi-related thought, you thing Toyota will put the corolla badge back on the 86 after scion is discontinued?
+Tristan Greene I have no info whatsoever on that but I hope they do, and logically speaking, they would rebadge it since they wouldn't want to "kill" the 86 here in the U.S. I imagine.
I am normally not a Cadie man but I would buy that.
If I'd have to have just one car - this would be it. Now just make it a stylish and roomy wagon!
I just can't believe how the car industry wants to kill off sedans, sport sedans especially.when we all could have cars like this to drive the majority of our society wants trucks and suvs instead. SMH. What a pussified lame society we are becoming.
I never seen him so Revved up and excited
Damn man...you're throwing that $91k Super Sedan like a crazy over that chicane @ 3:06 & that face - you looked so worried :)
Haha, I make the same face when about to hit a big pothole at speed !
Wow. I was expecting negative things. I'm glad it's that good.
Do you have to optimus-prime the engine before you start it?
No? No? I'll go home now..
So, this is the car that you had to drop $700 for a new set of rear tyres.
Worth it!
Came to see this video after hearing you talk about it on the podcast. :P Gonna go look up the esquire vid next :D
I didn't know they were this nice! Hard to beat a luxurious muscle car, if i wanted German i'd probably ball out in the Rs7
+GoneFeraL The RS7 is a dragster. It's ridiculous in a straight line, especially in 1/4 mile; we clocked mid-11's out of our press car on a hot day. It doesn't dance the way the CTS-V does, but it's super fast.
6:31 he is in the car alone but there is 4 people in the car while he drifts it......
Looks like a very awesome car, glad to see Cadillac stepping up their game. I thought the last CTS-V Coupe looked amazing.
Too bad I made a vowe to never support GM again by buying a new car from them after they royally screwed me over on not one, but two occasions back when I was a broke student.
Just those eight options on that WHOLE window sticker? Damn this thing is loaded
How do you feel it compares to BMW's M cars (m3/4/5)? Because from here it looks REALLY good! I'm not sure that europeans could ever buy Cadillacs though...
Good one Matt, what a car!
@thesmokingtire, after such an exhilarating drive what will it take to dethrone the M5 or benchmark?! How many attempts at greatness do competitors have to make to really turn the tide. I think this car is a pretty damn good example of refinement and engineering Matt!
