The national bowling union has found while testing their pneumatic bowling robot arm that you will make less strikes and have more odd splits with these new threaded pins
Tell your boss either don't switch or switch to a free fall pinsetter than had much more less parts. If you have Leagues, don't make them mad for having Strings cause they'll leave.
Bye bye helicopter pins also byebye to messengers. All the things we loved to watch in bowling will be gone. A pin that is attached to a string cannot fly freely. This was only developed to make more profit as a proprietor. Its the death of the sport of bowling. I'm sad to watch what is becoming of our sport. Doesn't look as exciting as true pin action! There is less pin action with the string. I love the messenger or the flying pin knocking out another one. I'll stick with the free standing pins!
Maybe for once in a while bowlers just for fun, but not for anyone serious about bowling. The strings completely change the carry of the pins. Sorry, not real bowling no matter how much hype is forced on it.
@@h8GW So they should do that then. You know, this is the first time string bowling has entered my thoughts since I've made my comment . Did you hear the one about the thirsty string that went to the bar?
I believe they did extensive testing and found that there was no meaningful difference in play between string set pins and "regular" pins. People think it makes a huge difference, but it actually doesn't.
Well better get used to it because in the next few decades freefall machines with be history, anyone in the industry has seen how upper management's get excited over the idea of cutting costs so dramatically and being able to reduce man hours considerably its already started out of 36 sites my old company now only have 2 freefall centres
Bowled on these just recently. almost impossible to leave a ringing 10 pin. I witnessed so many other bowlers leave things like a 3-10 and miss it but the string clotheslines the 10 down. I thought it would be impossible to make a 7-10, but pins still fly around ok. It'll raise averages by about 5-10 pins in my opinion.
I think this is very dependent on the type of string pin setup but my average went down when our local alley converted some of the lanes to strings. I’ve seen UA-cam videos of string pins flying around all crazy but ours just do not do that.
@@na88egt funny thing. Since I posted that, I've bowled on strings a couple more times. Both times I shot between 800-850 for four games. Last visits, the strings affect was lessened. I guess they loosened the tension on the pins or something. Nothing like what you see in videos like Packy's latest one.
This works for kids who want to have fun sometimes. But not for someone who want to play bowling serious hahaha. Was playing on one string court in Phuket Thailand in 2006. We were laughing so hard at it we didnt knew it existed. But it works if you just wanna play ONCE for fun and there is no other courts. But on daily basis...not so much. I do understand the string thing. Its cheaper ofc. And it works for tourists and kids. I enjoyed it.
It doesn't work for kids in my opinion if they're like 3 or 5 Years old cause they will roll their balls so slow that Balls will just sit on the Pindeck. Also I completely disagree about it being "cheaper" when Pinboys are even more cheaper than Strings, no machine in the back and not much electricity being consumed. Yet if I had Pinsetter mechanics, they better off working behind Free Fall Pinsetters than this, I want to get their feet moving instead of sleeping behind a bunch of Strings.
Bowling on wood with the evolution to synthetic lanes is one thing, but bowling with string pins is an absolute disaster for the sport. A true player and fan of the sport would never agree with it nor promote it like it is in this video. I visited a bowling centre in the UK in 2019 as part of a celebration event, at night. I thought something was off - the sound was different and the bounce wasn't right. I then noticed pins getting caught in something. When I looked closer I was horrified to see string pins - what a con! I felt cheated. It was as if I was back at the holiday park as a kid with the crappy miniature bowling lanes.
I left 10 pin after my third 300 game about 15 years ago. Between the reactive resin balls and now the two handed players, not getting a strike or mark on every frame is abnormal. After 10 years of just playing softball and golf, I joined a winter duckpin league 5 years ago. My average is 119 right now and I love it even though it's off by over 80 pins vs 10 pin. Picking off a one pin spare with a duckpin ball is 10X more thrilling than doing the same in 10 pin.
From what I saw the Weber wall shots will no longer be part of the bowling landscape. We can expect more 4-5-7 splits when the ball enters the pocket light. The bounciness of these pins may make the 7-10 split a little easier to convert. Hope all is well George. Much respect from NYC
@@federicogobbo5792 ive tried both and didn't enjoy the string machines as much as free standing pins. i find watching a pinsetter do its thing is part of enjoying the whole bowling experience
These machines are still expensive, in my opinion you should buy the real thing if you are going to spend enough to get a string machine in the first place. Although for residential use, I see one of these being a lot more practical, just not in a tournament setting.
One just popped up near me and the real reason is space. If not for this system, there would be no bowling alley there. Sucks but shitty bowling is better than no bowling! lol
@@aleckpons2773 What Jan means is these string pins always lift up the pins and lower them back down to their original spot. On normal machines the fingers pick it up and put it back down exactly where it was. A pin can slide over a little on a normal machine and can still be picked up and put back down in that spot. The fingers are made (and required) to work that way.
@@aleckpons2773 Some bowling centers installed the out-of-range kits on their A2's. I think our bowling center has them because if it comes down on top of a pin and it's blocked, it will just go back up and the sweep goes back up (or possibly just sit there indefinitely). The attendant can then sweep away any deadwood manually if needed. But at some houses it ends up continuing the cycle and sweeping the pins away, then of course you have to have them re-spotted in their original spot. I wonder if USBC has an addendum for leagues and tournaments at string pin houses?
rodhoutx if i had the money i would put one in at home. I am a traditionalist in the sense of no strings. I can also understand from a business perspective that is dangerous and less need for a technician to fix string issues as some front of house could fix. Also lower running costs.
You'd think with the technology available, they could place an RFID chip in the pin (to return it to it's proper spot) along with a metal cap on the pin and use some kind of magnetic technology to reset the pins. Maybe you wouldn't need an RFID identifier...just a way to indicate which pin "sockets" are empty. You get the picture. Or...you could put the magnet system in the floor boards. Activate it to set the pins, deactivate it for the shot...voila..regular pin action.
String bowling is actually a regression in technology from mechanical pinsetters. This is a regression in technology done for cost cutting reasons, and because of parts shortages in older machines. I thought with all of our technology, something would be done to make bowling pinsetting better, like a robot arm or a mini pinsetting robot on wheels.
10 Pin bowling is pretty popular in my area and if a center converted to string bowling majority of the league players would just go bowl at another Center that uses free-standing pins it would really be Financial suicide to convert to string bowling as you will not recoup the cost as League Bowlers will not like it. I see string bowling as a novelty or for a bowling alley located in the middle of nowhere that needs a low maintenance machine. The serious bowlers won't go here. The only way to get real bowlers in my area to go here is to be cheaper than 10 pin bowling... there are six free standing Pin bowling areas in my area and if string bowling is going to cost more why would anyone even go there?
This is fascinating to me from a mechanical standpoint. As a former bowler though, I don't care. I left bowling about 15 years ago when the synthetic lanes, oil patterns, reactive balls, two handed bowlers, etc. made the game too high scoring - like watching an NBA game (which I also quit as a fan). I see the PGA is going to reduce the flight of the golf ball to counteract equipment and other technology to improve the game in tournaments. In our softball league, we went to wood bats because the high tech bats were getting ridiculous (not to mention the unsanctioned modifications). For bowling, I don't see an answer. Sure, they can fix the balls and stop two handed throws if they wanted, but those free fall pinsetters are huge, they're complicated, they're expensive, and they're getting old. Other than a far simpler free fall pinsetter being designed (unlikely), I don't see how bowling can do anything but go to string setters. Good luck guys.
The only thing about free fall pin setters is that for the bowling proprietor is that they cost more to run plus parts for the older machines like the A2 are getting harder to find thus costing more in down time where as the newer stringed machines are not that bad for tangles as they tend to fix themselves thus the proprietor not needing to have a pin chaser on hand at all times. For the most part all staff members ( if trained well enough ) can fix most of the prob that may come up. At lest this is what i have been finding out with most string machines that i have bowled on in Canada. P.s. As for pin action on a stringed machine as aposed to a free fall machine.... I have found them to be pretty close to the same if not maybe a few pins more on the stringed lanes case of the string catching the top part of a pin in just the right way as to make it fall over. So my fellow bowlers near and far don't knock the string lanes until you have givin them a few try's. I'am not saying that i like them and I"am not saying that i don't like them as i grew up on free falling machines but as the free fall machines get older they get harder and harder to fix and they are costing more to do so this is why owners/Proprietors are changing there machines over to string as they will no longer have to pay as much less on 1. Hydro. 2. Staffing. 3. Parts. 4. Training. and did i mention Hydro that is being the big one here in Ontario Canada. Thanks again for taking time to read my rant HAPPY ROLLING.
There are far better proprietors can handle the costs easier and the ones can't then that's their problem. With Strings, you're gonna put mechanics jobless and made Serious Competitive Bowlers mad and move to another center that still have free fall pinsetters. I''d say if you don't want costs of parts and electricity bills, then its simple to just remove the free fall pinsetters and hire people to set up pins by hand. Its better because its cheaper without spending money on a machine and still free fall so that Competitive Bowlers would stay for a while. Or if you want a cheaper newest pinsetter then go with the Brunswick GS-NXT Pinsetter which is gonna be release in the Fall of 2022. To me I don't care about costs since I put Bowlers first before everything else to get money, that's how the Bowling Centers in the Philippines were like that especially my childhood Bowling center made money fast just by hosting events like Summer Bowling Clinic, High School Bowling Tournaments, family league tournaments, Sanctioned League Tournaments, random corporate tournaments, etc.
Welll, 10 string bowling is a slightly different game then 10 pin bowling. The machinery is potentially a lot less expensive do it might have a place in a venue that's only used occasionally.
AMF String pinsetters, masking units and Brunswick lanes?? WTH, lol weird they would mix it up like that. Longtime bowler here with the Canadian 5 pin but know 10 as well. I had heard that AMF used the plans from the Canadian Mendes bowling company to make their own version of a string setter. Mendes was a well known Quebec company which made pretty much bowling everything. Fun fact: Mendes scoring computers are used in North Korea bowling alleys, lol :)
@Pinz n Pinsetters bowlmor "AMF" bought all Brunswick bowling center inventory for the 85 centers across US and Canada.. which means AMF owns Brunswick bowling centers, buy the end of 2020 the Brunswick name will be gone from all now AMF centers.. the rest of Brunswick bowling equipment division was sold to BlueArc
Not bowling as I have come to know it. The issue I would say is the string could help carry a number of the pins that you wouldn't normally carry on a standard set of pins. At the 27:14 time of the video, the 10 pin was knocked over by the string of the 6, thus not a true carry.
Don't regular pin setters put the pin back where it was if it slides out of place on the first roll? This clearly does not do that. Except sometimes, it places it in the wrong spot when you don't want to.
The creator says he's "absolutely ok" with the strings knocking over pins. Out of curiosity, I would ask if he is then ok with pinsetters knocking over pins on freefall machines. Imo if they have these machines sanctioned and allow the equipment to influence carry, why two different rules?
Interesting , what is the price difference of standard vs string pinsetters ? Can they charge less for string pins ? If so, then amateurs wouldn't care anyway and it would cost less.
I would personally don’t care about the costs of Standard Free Fall Pinsetters. String Pinsetters is such a bad downgrade Pinsetter for Bowling because of 3 Major Problems: 1. It can’t spot pins properly (let alone it can’t do a proper out of range), 2. Cheesy Pin Action & 3. Tangled Pins which could take minutes than a Standard Free Fall Pinsetter cycling. I would not recommend these garbage machines, these are worse than GSX Pinsetters which GSX could do better than this.
@@triple7marc GSX sometimes had slow pin loading, they get blackouts for no reason (even if there's no jam), the tongs aren't reliable (thank god for the Set Button) and much more. But in the end no pinsetters are perfect and the only worth about the GSX that it had less excessive parts and its a free fall pinsetter, you might see a lot of tournaments bowled on GSX. Also I don't care about String Pinsetters being cheaper, I'm type of guy who wants the authentic pin action or pins flying and spining freely. If I want something cheaper than a Free Fall Pinsetter, I could just hire anyone to set pins by hand, its much better with no money spent on a machine while retaining the Free Fall pins.
How can the USBC even consider sanctioning these things? The rule is you play it where it lands so what about the off spots or “out of range pins? The ones that slide 6 inches and don’t fall? These machines pull everything back up and respot your spare shot on center not to mention your ringing tens or flat tens or messengers! Where do the tickets spit out for the cheap prizes you get at the counter??!! These are for carnivals! If the almighty dollar is all your after then here you go. The only upgrade I see here is this is an upgraded skee ball machine you get rid of the ramp for strings!!
I know that is another thing that could break down, but my god..just have the little plate with the pin holes that the strings pull them up to come down 6-8 inches or so before dropping the strings. That would result in FAR fewer instances of the pins being placed in the wrong spot.
my wife and i go bowling for dollars on sunday evening. how could a center do it with string machines as you need random set colored pins for this and other games as well. i will pass if my center switched.
Humdingers is located in Bergen County in Paramus NJ its a Small Bowling alley but I've been to Bowler city in Hackensack NJ Mont Vale lanes in Mont Vale NJ and Fairlawn Bowling alley
Interesting video. But string pinsetters are a novelty, a cost-saving thing, not accurate, and dissapointing Castle Hill Zone put them in. This video proves it. The strings influence pinfall way too much. I've bowled here, now go to other centres with free-falling pins. And yes.. you can tell they are strings. I've seen strings pull down pins they shouldn't, it is that simple. For kids birthday parties (yep revenue) sure.. but for serious bowlers, and league? No thanks.
Exactly, I agree if my center put these in I would just go bowl League at another center that doesn't have them in. Lots of people would follow me and it would be really stupid to put these in I don't think Bowlers would stick around unless it was the only place that bowl within 30 miles. People I bowl with already said they will not do string pins
All that is needed is for the machine to detect no more pin movement or to extend the re-rack a few more seconds before dropping the pins. Why does the reset have to be that fast? Most bowlers take at least 20 seconds between shots.
2 Handed Bowling had nothing to do from killing the Sport. Definitely String Pinsetters and Selfish Bowling Center owners and proprietors are the real destroyers for Bowling.
ya know, I'm not a super duper bowling aficionado by any means, and I get the gripe for string pin machines but... Aren't these a whole lot safer than the older style machines? There's been some terrible, terrible accidents that have happened with the old machines so this might not be so bad if you think of it that way. If I'm wrong please do correct me.
you're not wrong, some people just want to complain. stringpins are cheaper and safer while requiring less assistance during a game. so obviously the "real" bowlers hate them.
The accidents occurs because the people don't know what they are doing or they are taking a short cut to fix something instead of the correct way. Being a former mechanic on the Brunswck A-2, safety has always been taught and emphasize to every new mechanic and older mechanics.
So if u move a pin but dont knock it down, changing spare parameters the machine is going to reset said pin helping/hurting spare chances..... I dont trust it
i argue a robotic placement machine could be designed similarly to this string system but allowing the pins to sit placed in the older style sweep and place manner with reduced parts or perhaps the use of some smaller robotic arms it wouldnt be as safe but still safer than the old machinery
Also, got word that they sold out at recent exhibition. Saves 50-60% on installation and another 30-40% on annual costs. Don't be surprised is this is USBC approved in the next 2-3 years. If you want to see new bowling centers, this might be the only way to keep them financially viable. News flash, bowling centers are expensive with one of the lowest income rate per square foot in any business.
10 pin does very well in my area, good luck getting a lane between 6-9pm on the weekdays. 7 bowling alleys and 2 bowling alley "night clubs" in my area.
Yeah, IF the USBC even survives in 2-3 years!! If proprietors water down our sport this way, what'll keep them from doing it in other ways? Besides, Round 1 bowling alley arcades currently use regular machinery and they're not certified!! Heck I even saw repair PATCHES on their synthetic lanes, which you'd NEVER see in an ABC sanctioned bowling alley!!............. If enough proprietors jump on this bandwagon, or if this type bowling is all that's left, USBC is DONE!!!!!!!
Try to compare String Pinsetters to Pinboys. You don’t need any Pinsetter to install in your Bowling Center. Just hire people to set pins by hand and it’s a win-win for both Proprietors and Competitive Bowlers.
To those that complain about string pinsetters. If you are so bothered that the strings will replace free-falls, then why are you not protesting outside? What is that? You dont have the bowls to do that? And you choose to complain in the comment sections where it wont change anything instead? Because you only have bowls when you are protected by your keyboard? You guys are so sad. If you want to complain, do it publically. Not in a comment sections like on youtube, reddit, instagram and any other social media. If you want change, go outside and protest.
George, where do you situated you pindecklights? I have converted my center to funk stringpinsetter and have my old amf pindecklights I want to use Thanks Paul
STring machines have a bracket out the front of the machine where they mount the lights too. The lights screw to it. Send me your email and I'll send you a pic
Is it true that most bowling alleys will be charging $10 PER GAME??? Sorry, but I don't think it's worth the money! Explanation: I was a PBA member back in the 1980s...for 6 years. That makes me a purist as far as bowling is concerned. This changes a lot of things, including the real possibility of pins being knocked over...by the strings! THAT IS NOT REAL BOWLING! If this is what the game is going to be, my comeback attempt (at age 71) is FINISHED!
Lol $10 a game will kill that industry. In my area $3.50 is the highest per game and they better have oil on the lane for that price. Imagine paying $10 a game for bowling and they have little to no oil on a lane, as a serious bowler I would be pretty upset and I would not be back even at $10 game I already don't even want to do it
cant believe they show this. it shows the messenger eliminated, pins set off spot and not corrected, and the strings taking out pins not hit by ball or other pins frequently. i guess if you have never bowled before it would be ok but non string bowlers wont like it.
Yes you can respot single or multiple strings and that machine needs work done on it. Shouldn't be putting pins down not in the right spot. They are the old original strings. The AMF edge are a good machine
If String Bowling will catch on, their needs to be a separate sanctioning body for String Bowling vs. "Regular" ten pin. Pin reaction is most certainly different. We are not talking apples to apples here.
String Bowling is still known as Open/Casual Bowling. I’d say to those proprietors that if they kept whining about the costs of a Free Fall Pinsetter, then switch back to oldschool with Pinboys. No maintenance costs and still Free Fall cause pins will be set by hand. That should be a win-win for both the proprietors and League/competitive bowlers. Plus it’s a nice income for those people lived below the poverty line just to set pins by hand.
There is a camera on the capping that can view all pins from it's specific angle. If it cannot see one or more of the pins, it will cycle until the pins are in place. (I work in a bowling alley)
@@drummachine434 Exactly the same way, the camera knows the location of the pins and where they should be. It knows which have been knocked over, and which have just been moved. Typically, if you move a pin off spot after the first ball, if it is slightly off spot, it will still get picked up by the table and placed down on spot where it should be, and if it is too far off spot, it may cause the table to not fully lower, but I've never seen it before.
The other method: if the pin goes off spot, the string will pulled a little, and the stringpuller machine detects the move of the string. It is used mostly in nine pin lanes. Although on nine pin lanes, pins are standing in a little hole, and there is a small node on the bottom of the pins, so if the pin goes off-spot, it will fall.
@Drummachine I get what you mean. What you're saying is that after throwing the 1st ball, the machine pulls up all the pins and resets any pins left standing for the 2nd throw, but it can't replace a standing pin that was moved off spot in its off-spot position for the 2nd throw. Therefore it would not be able to comply with the USBC rule that requires off-spot pins be replaced in its last standing position.
Just played on these, really ruins the unpredictability and fun of bowling. It may be fine for recreational purposes, but anything else and these would ruin it. Never going back to that bowling alley.
This is totally ridiculous. If they do this conversion in my current house I will be moving to one of the really old alleys in town where they are still bowling on wood…and will never do such a conversion. This is nearly exactly the way my old Bowl-A-Matic 300 game (toy) used to work (except there were magnets in the bottom of the pins and on the pin-spots…………and the pins were around 4 inches tall). See here ua-cam.com/video/COKx0_2Dofk/v-deo.html By the way…This was one of the coolest toys ever….and I was really disappointed when my wife made it disappear after holding onto it for 50 years 😅…….but the concept is definitely not suitable for full-scale bowling !!
Like it or not, they will be replacing free fall machines. We literally spent millions of dollars per year on parts for 1956 and newer A 2s. Owners won't care how you feel about it especially after the USBC tested them against free fall and found no significant difference in scoring. It's the coming thing and im seriously considering starting an alley! Seriously! A teenager can maintain them just once a week!
The people who get "hurt" are the ones who don't deserve to be a mechanic since they broke 1 rule is by shutting off and unpluging the pinsetter power. With less moving parts, there's zero chance of being a mechanic because there's no challenge at all during work hours. Its like you're sitting there like some kind of security guard. Even tho I'm not a mechanic but its satisfying watching pins flowing through the machine and do all the work in the back rather than seeing strings pulling up the suicided pins and do nothing.
Seems like the ABC and local associations have lost their influence of the sport of bowling. I’ve been bowling almost fifty years and there’s little or no jurisdiction over what goes on in leagues as years pass. The organizations that would provide oversight are a shell of what they used to be
The length of the strings must be so long, that the head of the 1st pin can reach the corner of the back wall, without resistance. So it is possible to solve a 7-10 spare.
Not a fan of 10-pin stringsetters at all. I understand their purpose in 5-pin it's just been long accepted. And 5-pin freefall setters are expensive to maintain and use up more electricity. Balance I guess.
Not really true. Watch this USBC video, at 7:40. PS. No, I'm not a fan of them. However, the only two lanes within an hour of me here in southern Switzerland use them, so it's either use them or quit.🤷♂
Are they going to pass on the savings to the customers? Timezone has taken over bowling! What next VR! I used to bowl a lot in my teens as it was cheap and fun , but now more expensive half the lanes have been replaced with loud arcade noisy ticket giving scamming kids with $2 prizes! And selling alcohol in the same building! It’s all about profit now and not about the bowler!
The deaths and injuries come from 2 sources.... Minimum wage employee with little training. And Employees with years of experience ignoring safety protocols. I worked at a bowling alley in the late 90's. I never entered that machine without disabling it. Danger eliminated.
but then you can go on the string pinsetter while its literally powered on because there is WAY fewer moving parts that actually could hurt you. I would probably say its child safe aswell.
Here we see over commercialism at its finest, let’s ruin great sports by doing everything they can to maximise profits and destroy the integrity of the game. Heard about a few local centres trying these out and if that’s the future of bowling consider me truly done. If the wheel works fine don’t reinvent it.
What an absolute travesty to what was once such a great sport. If one desires to destroy the sport of bowling for good, this is the way to go about doing so. Heard the USBC was foolish enough on legalizing these damn things for sanctioned leagues & tournament competition. If the bowling alleys in the vicinity around here adopt & convert to these damn things, will be quitting bowling permanently. Bowling was designed to be a sport of free falling pins, not an arcade game with strings. Heard Bowlero has been pressuring the USBC to approve these damn things from an avaricious stand point. The duet of Bowlero & the USBC, & what they have done to the sport of bowling, is sickening, to say the least!
My local bowling hall has moved over to strings, I will be looking around for somewhere using proper pinsetters. The sweep is part of the experience!
The national bowling union has found while testing their pneumatic bowling robot arm that you will make less strikes and have more odd splits with these new threaded pins
as is the sound and proper movement of pins.

We were laughing so hard at it we didnt knew it existed. But it works if you just wanna play ONCE for fun and there is no other courts. But on daily basis...not so much. I do understand the string thing. Its cheaper ofc. And it works for tourists and kids. I enjoyed it.
This will be cool for everyone
Fantastic video. A life long question have been answered
From what I saw the Weber wall shots will no longer be part of the bowling landscape. We can expect more 4-5-7 splits when the ball enters the pocket light. The bounciness of these pins may make the 7-10 split a little easier to convert. Hope all is well George. Much respect from NYC
The 7-10 split is MUCH easier to convert with these. There are videos of people doing it like 1 in 3 tries.
It's not the same as watching a mechanical pinsetter with free standing pins. String machine completely ruin the experience

Sucks but shitty bowling is better than no bowling! lol
80% cheaper to maintain. Attractive to the owner's pocketbook. More profit.

will never be approved by USBC because you must shoot spare pins where you leave them and that is impossible with string pins
If a pin is off spot in normal bowling and machine knocks over. It gets reset with what pin it was not where it ended up
@@aleckpons2773 What Jan means is these string pins always lift up the pins and lower them back down to their original spot. On normal machines the fingers pick it up and put it back down exactly where it was. A pin can slide over a little on a normal machine and can still be picked up and put back down in that spot. The fingers are made (and required) to work that way.
rodhoutx that is true. Depends on how far it moves and if the machine can pick it up for a normal machine
Activate it to set the pins, deactivate it for the shot...voila..regular pin action.
very good idea, never thought of that
@@Shogun1289 magnetism might throw-off the movement of the pins as they collide with the ball and other pins.
The pins are not going to stand themselves up just with magnets.
Mendes and Qubica (before the AMF buyout) tried using magnets with the MM2001 and Mag3it. Both were a commercial failure.
Has anybody noticed this is an AMF Center with Brunswick string machines
String pins are only good for Casuals but not for the Real Sport of Bowling.
Not even good for us Rec/Casual Players.
I don't want to bowl with this garbage.
No messengers, No carry... NO FUN.
This will be fun cant wait
To me I don't care about costs since I put Bowlers first before everything else to get money, that's how the Bowling Centers in the Philippines were like that especially my childhood Bowling center made money fast just by hosting events like Summer Bowling Clinic, High School Bowling Tournaments, family league tournaments, Sanctioned League Tournaments, random corporate tournaments, etc.
parts are made for A2 machines
More strikers in ten mins than in my whole life.
Reminds me of a bowling game I had as a kid.
Fun fact: Mendes scoring computers are used in North Korea bowling alleys, lol :)
if youre a long time bowler you should know AMF now owns Brunswick
@Pinz n Pinsetters bowlmor "AMF" bought all Brunswick bowling center inventory for the 85 centers across US and Canada.. which means AMF owns Brunswick bowling centers, buy the end of 2020 the Brunswick name will be gone from all now AMF centers.. the rest of Brunswick bowling equipment division was sold to BlueArc
@@Saskman73 and Bowlero, who owns the PBA, also owns AMF. Too incestuous if you ask me!
Not bowling as I have come to know it. The issue I would say is the string could help carry a number of the pins that you wouldn't normally carry on a standard set of pins. At the 27:14 time of the video, the 10 pin was knocked over by the string of the 6, thus not a true carry.
Yup, I saw it....
As a bowler I hate this. Having done a lot of work on 82-30's though I at least understand the concept of why they're working on these.
@@PinoyBowlerGS92 Are GSXs bad or something?
String pinsetters are FAR cheaper than standard pinsetters.
That would result in FAR fewer instances of the pins being placed in the wrong spot.
my wife and i go bowling for dollars on sunday evening. how could a center do it with string machines as you need random set colored pins for this and other games as well. i will pass if my center switched.
whats the life longevity of the strings?
No thanks.
i agree. growing up, i found these are far more forgiving and easier compared to your standard type, not to mention down time with tied pins
While not full size, I think this is more realistic than any string lane. What are your thoughts: ua-cam.com/video/_lPXBiWZvDg/v-deo.html
So... these machines come with some strings attached?
yep and you can replace both strings and pins
All that is needed is for the machine to detect no more pin movement or to extend the re-rack a few more seconds before dropping the pins. Why does the reset have to be that fast? Most bowlers take at least 20 seconds between shots.
First two handed idiots. Now strings. RIP, bowling, a once great sport.
2 Handed Bowling had nothing to do from killing the Sport. Definitely String Pinsetters and Selfish Bowling Center owners and proprietors are the real destroyers for Bowling.
Is a child an idiot for bowling two handed like Belmonte started?
what's wrong with two handed bowling? I love seeing unorthodox bowling styles on pro tournaments.
ya know, I'm not a super duper bowling aficionado by any means, and I get the gripe for string pin machines but...
I dont trust it
i argue a robotic placement machine could be designed similarly to this string system but allowing the pins to sit placed in the older style sweep and place manner with reduced parts or perhaps the use of some smaller robotic arms it wouldnt be as safe but still safer than the old machinery
also technically these machines could be upgraded to track string strikes and count them and software could be updated
I am opposed to the strings. The carry will be different. No More " Bird Dogs"!!!!
But the pins are always spotted in the same slot. The headpin will ALWAYS be the headpin. The 10 pin will ALWAYS be the 10 pin. Is that not BS?
Also, got word that they sold out at recent exhibition. Saves 50-60% on installation and another 30-40% on annual costs. Don't be surprised is this is USBC approved in the next 2-3 years.
If you want to see new bowling centers, this might be the only way to keep them financially viable. News flash, bowling centers are expensive with one of the lowest income rate per square foot in any business.
Much better rev./sq. ft. and real bowling if you put these in: ua-cam.com/video/_lPXBiWZvDg/v-deo.html
USBC just certified these beginning AUG 1 2023
To those that complain about string pinsetters. If you are so bothered that the strings will replace free-falls, then why are you not protesting outside? What is that? You dont have the bowls to do that? And you choose to complain in the comment sections where it wont change anything instead? Because you only have bowls when you are protected by your keyboard?

@@susannehez4909 that’s nothing really
I wonder if you can spot certain pins with these.? Or reset the pins.
Yes you can respot single or multiple strings and that machine needs work done on it. Shouldn't be putting pins down not in the right spot. They are the old original strings. The AMF edge are a good machine
@@charlesduthie4622 However Out of Range or Off Spot Pins, it’s a lost cost for String Pinsetters. Free Falls are superior with those than Strings.
How is this machine able to detect off spot pins?
There is a camera on the capping that can view all pins from it's specific angle. If it cannot see one or more of the pins, it will cycle until the pins are in place. (I work in a bowling alley)
@@maxdilello9917 i meant to when you roll your 1st ball and you manage to make a pin go off spot, how is this machine gonna detect that?
Even recreational purposes it would ruin it.
i hope this place goes out of business for installation of this ridiculous carnival game
Would they even take the time and oil these lanes? But then, why bother since it wouldn't be ABC sanctioned anyways?
How many centre have the string system?
You will never see a messenger with string pins.

Tell the guy to stop making strikes!! This didn’t show tough splits, so he can bowl strikes, that doesn’t show the system.
Seriously! A teenager can maintain them just once a week!
finaly someone that uses brain.
The only good thing with these machines is less moving parts to get hurt on when performing maintenance

Why ask him not to when it is, stringpin bowling is an actual joke, and it's ruining bowling
Never gonna make a 7 10 split on this. EVER! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not really true. Watch this USBC video, at 7:40. PS. No, I'm not a fan of them. However, the only two lanes within an hour of me here in southern Switzerland use them, so it's either use them or quit.🤷♂

Fraud bowling
