This is the reason what you ordered at a fast food drive thru now appears on a screen. Too many people were wrecking their cars or dying from a coronary because of the immense frustration of trying to place an order. I remember hearing this on Dr. Demento 40 years ago.
Today at the cafeteria at work I got a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. I had to get a bottle of Orange Crush just so I could do this bit for the cashier. She didn't get it.
I heard this for the for the first time when I was in high school on The Dr. Demento Show WAY back in 1981, '82, '83. I sure miss Dr. Dementia. DD would play it almost every time his show aired, which was on Sunday nights where I lived at that time. LOVED it then and LOVE it now! It's so hilarious that I just about had orange drink coming out my nose every time I heard it. LOL It sure brings back good memories of a much simpler time in my life. : )
You can still hear The Dr. Demento Show online; you just have to pay $2 per listen now, so he can pay costs and royalties. Check it out at drdemento.com.
First time I ever heard this I was in 7th grade..the year was 1982...Just made me laugh harder than I ever had ...in my life!!!!! Thanks for posting this..❤❤
My goodness. One of the old counselors from a Boy Scout summer camp I went to always did this at least once every year during lunch. This brings me back 😂
One of the funniest things I've ever heard! We have a tradition of saying "and a large orange drink!" whenever there is something unintelligible, and then we can't help cracking up. Thank you for posting.
I got thinking about this while ordering a biscuits and gravey at Carl's Jr today when the woman missed my order for an orange juice. As I corrected her this popped into my mind and as I drove up to the window I turned to my wife and said " and a large orange drink!" We both laughed SO hard. When we got home I looked this up and we both laughed some more. Thank heaven for you tube we will play this for the grandkids today. I haven't heard this for more than 51 years! It's still funny!
The first time I ever heard this, I was in high school was back in the 80s. It was on the now defunct KDSQ-Q102 in Dallas. I laughed so effing hard that I damn near drove off the road. Literally had to pull over and get a grip before I could drive again. Good times
I used to run Dr Demento every Sunday night down in the big city of Freer, Texas on my station KBRA the Cobra 95.9. Hearing this brings back many memories in the 80s and 90s.
My teenage daughter just got a job working at McDonald's. Although I hadn't thought about this song in 40 years, it suddenly popped into my head. She and I laughed so hard listening to it. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Sounded like the speaker when I did the drive through when I worked at Jack In The Box in 1986 only thats how the customers sounded when they ordered, like this girl taking their order
Being hard of hearing, pretty much EVERY trip to a fast food restaurant's drive-thru window is like this for me (even with hearing aids!), especially if the person running it has a thick foreign accent and/or is not a native English speaker. Thanks for sharing this blast from the past!
i first heard this on the Russ Limbaugh show back in the late 80s ,i remember laughing so hard barely breath .Been looking for this for a long time and finaly found it .
The thing that most impresses me, is that if you were to see this routine written down, it wouldn't be funny at all. Hearing these guys perform it, though, I'm always laughing out loud.
I went to my local Jack in the Box this weekend and tried to ask the clown box how much it was for a Double Jumbo Jack FIVE TIMES and they STILL didn't get it. And it made me think of this routine, as I peeled out screaming, "Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!
I remember this! My gracious, it's been a very long time. I heard back when I was in high school in Houston, in the early 80s. It cracked me up. They would play funny bits between songs on either 97 or 101, both were rock stations which of course are now referred to as classic rock. My have the years gone past. I really miss it.
I have been looking for the song for the last 2 years but couldn't figure out the right keywords to pull it up. I kept getting other cheeseburger novelty songs. Suddenly while driving tonight I thought novelty song cheeseburger large fries, and here I am.
There was a version of this which was used during “Z100’s 5th Anniversary Show” back on 8/2/88 where George Steinbrenner was at McDonald’s ordering some food, and it was inspired by Stevens and Grdnic’s hilarious sketch.
Me too. What's funnier is one time I was telling my husband what I wanted from a fast food place and ended by saying "and a large ..orange ..drink". He actually brought me back a large orange drink. I about died laughing and couldn't believe he had never heard this and thought I was serious. lol
I remember this from when I was like 7. Don't know why I thought of this today but I wanted to see if it was a known commercial. that was in 1990ish when I remembered it.
I used to run the Dr. Demento show for about 12 years every Sunday night in South Texas on my 95.9 FM KBRA, the KoBRA. Dr. Demento AKA Barry Hansen, is still the go to guy for anything when you want to ------ stay demented.
Slight correction. Both Ron and Joy had their own separate shows on KSHE for years before they teamed up. Joy in the Morning and Ron's show. Then the morning show together and then they went out to LA, where I believe this was put on record. They are now both back in STL but not on KSHE.
I went to a drive-thru a few years ago where the guy on the intercom sounded almost as bad as this. It was unbelievable. This thing is hilarious though. I love it.
This was on Dr. D way more than once. I didn't know it was by Stevens & Grdnic though. I was searching youtube for something else S&G did and this came up.
i remember hearing this on the radio thirty years ago and thinking how stupid, and yet truly amusing it was. say it... a large orange drink...arghhhhhhhh
I went looking for a recording of this in light of today's story about McDonald's pulling their AI out of the restaurants that had it because it kept getting orders mixed up.
i guess if u order a num 1-12 r watevr they have listed....u cant just say the number itself...cuz the combo isnt implied w/out actually sayin like a #3....u have to say a #3 combo....even though the #3 shows a drink & fries listed....i nvr understood that concept & still dont....
A big perk of having old parents is that you get to find ancient comedy gems like this even though you're a teenager
As someone who has grown up with older parents this is 100% the biggest benefit
The woman now works at every Taco Bell.
I hadn't heard this since the 80's on the Dr. Demento show and I used to do it for my mom and she would crack up.
This is the reason what you ordered at a fast food drive thru now appears on a screen. Too many people were wrecking their cars or dying from a coronary because of the immense frustration of trying to place an order. I remember hearing this on Dr. Demento 40 years ago.
When the lady or guy can't comprehend their food order garbled or burbled be
My dad's childhood is now mine I COULD BARELY BREATH THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
Today at the cafeteria at work I got a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. I had to get a bottle of Orange Crush just so I could do this bit for the cashier. She didn't get it.
“Did… Did you get my order? A double cheeseburger, onion rings, and a large orange drink!”
She didn't get it for it was back in the day dr. Demento

I am a medical transcriptionist. I swear this lady is a doctor at one of the facilities I work for. *sigh*
Our drama teacher would always show us this video if we don't speak or sing loudly for the audience. XD
I listened to this for the first time in like fifth grade. I was laughing so hard with my whole family.
Your whole family was with you in the fifth grade ? Must be related to the Clampetts.
@@anthonythorp7291 Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!
I will never grow tired of this...priceless.

Had not heard this in 30 years. ...

Too flippin' CLASSIC! Love it! Nice to see that it has been preserved.

Heard this on the Dr. Demento Show back in the early 90's, freakin' hilarious!
The guy starts to lose it @ 1:53---"aaaaaaaagh!!!" My late mother got a big kick out of that.
My teenage daughter just got a job working at McDonald's. Although I hadn't thought about this song in 40 years, it suddenly popped into my head. She and I laughed so hard listening to it. Thank you so much for sharing this!
A classic Ode to Frustration. This is why audio tapes were a good thing. They're how I captured several hours of DD way back when.
I still have this on a cassette I recorded from the radio, now all I have to do is hit Download!
Sounded like the speaker when I did the drive through when I worked at Jack In The Box in 1986 only thats how the customers sounded when they ordered, like this girl taking their order
I remember hearing these every morning in the 80's....you wake up to this and you can't help but laugh all day......that and "the champ" on q107
Being hard of hearing, pretty much EVERY trip to a fast food restaurant's drive-thru window is like this for me (even with hearing aids!), especially if the person running it has a thick foreign accent and/or is not a native English speaker. Thanks for sharing this blast from the past!
That's pretty much every trip to sonic
i first heard this on the Russ Limbaugh show back in the late 80s ,i remember laughing so hard barely breath .Been looking for this for a long time and finaly found it .
I remember hearing this with my parents as a teenager and laughing until we cried!!
Every adult from peanuts
Driver's Education in Houston traffic during the 80s was survivable because of this song. I'm seriously.
You listened to the Q-Morning-Zoo too, right?
Oh my gosh! This has been a family joke for years! Thank you so much for posting!!!
The thing that most impresses me, is that if you were to see this routine written down, it wouldn't be funny at all. Hearing these guys perform it, though, I'm always laughing out loud.
Heard this when it was first broadcast, laughed myself sick!
I went to my local Jack in the Box this weekend and tried to ask the clown box how much it was for a Double Jumbo Jack FIVE TIMES and they STILL didn't get it. And it made me think of this routine, as I peeled out screaming, "Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!
I haven’t heard this since 1987!....well...2017...close enough
This was the funniest thing I ever heard as a kid.
My daily message when I wake up

This lives in my head
This and Bambalance are 2 of the funniest things I'd ever heard when I 1st heard them. Still crack me up.
This is the best thing ever
YES! Finally found it!!! by accident even! - great memories as a kid
40 years later and the drive thru machines still sound like this.
I must have been listening that one time, because I remember it! It was a loooong time ago.
I have been looking for the song for the last 2 years but couldn't figure out the right keywords to pull it up. I kept getting other cheeseburger novelty songs.
Suddenly while driving tonight I thought novelty song cheeseburger large fries, and here I am.
Heard this only once back in the early 80s, while driving in LA, funny stuff.....
There was a version of this which was used during “Z100’s 5th Anniversary Show” back on 8/2/88 where George Steinbrenner was at McDonald’s ordering some food, and it was inspired by Stevens and Grdnic’s hilarious sketch.
My dad always loved this! Sounds like him.
What a freaking hilarious memory!
Still funny, after all these years.
Is why a lot of people avoid the 24 hour drive through 😂😂
Wonderful! Thank you for posting this!
ONNNIOOONNN RIIINGGSSS!!....SAY IT!! 🤣🤣
Heard this on Dr. Demento and loved it then. Glad I could find it here.
Sounds like Charlie Brown School teacher
This was the funniest thing to me as a kid

Been looking for this for years.
they used to play this every day, around 1980, on DFW's Q102 right before lunch ...it was so stoopidly hilarious
This is what Walgreens speakers sound like at the drive through. On top of that, they wear a mask so it sounds even worse!! 😩
The drive thru voice used to creep me out as kid.
Gideon Waxfarb Not me. I find it laughable.
My father would play this for us all the time when I was like 5.
were Stevens and Grdnic grom St.Louis? because the dude says "arnge"
Yup, Ron Stevens and Joy Grdnic were the morning crew at KSHE 95 for several years, during which this bit was recorded.
Slight correction. Both Ron and Joy had their own separate shows on KSHE for years before they teamed up. Joy in the Morning and Ron's show. Then the morning show together and then they went out to LA, where I believe this was put on record. They are now both back in STL but not on KSHE.
B97 FM in NJ is the station is where i heard this for the first time.
Thank you for sharing this.
*_”I WANT A DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER, ONION RINGS, AND A LARGE ORANGE DRINK!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!”_*
Crash! :sound of tinkling glass :
I went to a drive-thru a few years ago where the guy on the intercom sounded almost as bad as this. It was unbelievable. This thing is hilarious though. I love it.
And then? No and then. And then? No and then! And then? No and then!!! Lol
I haven't heard this in years! :D
Reminds me of the restaurant freakout videos
My mom used to play this for me in the car when I was 8.
Good times.
I've been looking for this for years...
Ive never worked fast food but its probably the exact same on the employees end with customers either being too close or not close enough to the mic
Modern-day equivalent dude where’s my car drive-through scene
he sounds like Lenny of Lenny& Squiggy from the Laverne & Shirley Show.
Limbaugh used to play this back in the 80s
RIP, Rush Limbaugh.
@@bradleycotton3237 That chick DOES sound a lot like Pelosi.

I went looking for a recording of this in light of today's story about McDonald's pulling their AI out of the restaurants that had it because it kept getting orders mixed up.
Jack in the box inspired
Who came here because of all the fast food workers at the drive thru wearing a N95 mask 😂
i guess if u order a num 1-12 r watevr they have listed....u cant just say the number itself...cuz the combo isnt implied w/out actually sayin like a #3....u have to say a #3 combo....even though the #3 shows a drink & fries listed....i nvr understood that concept & still dont....
