    Independent testing and measurements like this is what makes manufacturers nervous. They can only hide behind their price and marketing for so long.

      EXACTLY, and I have a feeling that a lot of the top brands rely on their marketing more then their quaility. The social media influencers have a hugh impact. The problem is that the content creators are financial motivated to push their products.
      Meaning its tough to know if we are getting honest and unbiased reviews. Or, we are just hearing good things about what ever company is giving out the most money or free products.

    Good to see independent measurements. Helix next hopefully as its the benchmark DSP . My thoughts noise floor below 60db is already irrelevant especially for car interior. Distortion below 0.1% is already good enough but watch out for IMD which is much more important.
    My personal takes is u probably won't hear much different between them. For cars the speaker n car noise is the major variable .

    Once again awesome video and thank you for being a beacon of light in the smoke/mirror world of car audio. Honestly I was holding my breath waiting for the Alpine results. Would love to see a review on the Status HDP-D90. How does it compare to Helix for example.

    I'd like to see ya test a JL VXi 6 channel dsp amp. Definitely way above the price point of these but I wanna see if there's a noticeable difference. I hear people say it's good, I just wanna know how good. The Helix would be another good comparison point for it.

      @@RAW-CAt I was gonna say, if I ever was gonna buy one I could buy it near you and have you ship it to me lmfao
      The shipping costs across the sea would be ridiculous I bet. Let alone customs and all that baloney. It being more expensive over there is a deal breaker unfortunately... The JL VX600/6i is $1,500 USD for me... I can only imagine European prices

      Just FYI, the JL Audio VXi DSP Amplifiers were "good enough" for master Tuner Jeffrey Hald from Mobile Toys Inc (MTI) in College Station Texas to win a recent MECA/IASCA/MASQ SQ Championship (also using the JL C7 components and JL Subwoofers) against A LOT of the top SQ competitors. So, I think they measure "Okay." 😊

    I’m not familiar with bits and processing speed etc.
    Haven’t made a purchase yet, but number of speaker channels and preamp outputs is what I start with. Versatility, I suppose.

    Vibe have a very affordable POWERBOX65.4-8MDSP-V3 65W RMS DSP amp but as a UK Company interestingly there is no information over the forums or here in YT platform. DSP Amp Ticks many boxes but looking for any review or feedback which is not available at all...

    Are the amplified DSPs running the amplified outputs into line output converters to give you low level signal? or do they have separate line and high level outs from the chip? Most budget headunits do this.

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  10 місяців тому +1

      These have separate line outs just after the dac. And then the same signal amplified by the internal IC.

    Hi, I am planning to use Alpine PXE R-500 but confused about the speakers. My car fits 6.5 inch speakers. So in the back I will have a set of coaxial speaker and in the front a set of tweeters with mid range speakers. Now the question is what kind of RMS wattage of speakers I should be looking for? And will it be able to support a powered subwoofer. I yes what should be its wattage?

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  Місяць тому +2

      This DSP/amp will be fine for factory upgrade speakers, anything more serious and I would get a separate amp. Look for low power (up to 50W) and high sensitivity speakers. For a subwoofer you NEED a separate monoblock.

      @@RAW-CAt Thanks for replying. I was planning to map it to Focal Access 165AS and 165AC which has 60W RMS and peak 120W. Sensitivity is at 91.3db.Will it work? Or do I need to search for a different set with a lower rating. At this range the Focals seemed to be good enough. Not sure of any other brand with lower ratings and as good as Focal.

    • @ssamanta72
      @ssamanta72 Місяць тому

      There is a budget version which is Focal ACE/ACX 165 with similar power rating of 60W RMS and 120W peak output. Only the sensitivity is 91.5dB.

      if you want DIY approach, just make sure you did a decent power filtering. my recommendation with DIY approach: use active LPF and have a gain stage output. active LPF performs much better than passive LPF even with a cheap decent opamps and since the internal DAC only capable of 1V output, gain stage might be needed.
      most budget DSP fell on its face caused by poor power filtering

    installed a PXE C80-88:
    2 months in, and already had to uninstall it and take it to warranty. A real cheap downgrade coming from a previous generation alpine amp. already has been analyzed by some technicians and doesn't have enough internal components to handle what is marketed as to do (4 speakers and a small sub)

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  3 місяці тому +1

      I personally would never use a DSP/amp for a subwoofer. Only for midbass. What sub are you running of it?
