Greatest American distance group ever assembled. Only groups that come close are the Florida track club in the 70's and 80's and the Oregon track club in the mid-late 2000's. All BS aside, what the Oregon Project did for American distance running will never be forgotten. They inspired an entire generation to push limits and seek every ounce of performance possible. Created new schools of thought with training philosophy and redefined American distance running to help push the running boom we are seeing right now. 10 years ago we only had a couple internationally competitive runners, both men's and women's. Now we have athletes capable of a gold medal in almost every single track event. From the 100 to the 10k to the marathon to the field events. Thank you, Nike Oregon Project.
by practicing biggest Taboo among the runners? there is a line where no runners can't cross and they crossed it blatantly Are the mafias supposed to be good role model in Italian community? The infamy that Oregon Project did might set back 20 years. Inspire entire generation of runners with slick Nike musics and production while doping like crazy. Marion Jones Lance Armstrong Oregon Project and many many more Nike athletes where does it end? or is it Just Do It
YONG KIM you clearly weren’t in school when the Oregon project was king. Set back 20 years? Are you kidding me? Look at the resurgence of American distance running right now. On the men’s side, we didn’t have any medalists in 2008 in distance events. In 2012 we had 2 (Rupp, Manzano) and in 2016 we 4 (Rupp, Centro, Jager, and Murphy). We could potentially get close to double that in Tokyo. Between Brazier, Centro, Engels, Gregorek, Murphy, Chelimo, Kincaid, Lomong, Korir, Jager, Bor, Rupp, and so on. We have so many internationally competitive distance guys right now it’s insane. We haven’t seen this since the 60’s and 70’s. Even with the might of East Africa. The Oregon Project pushed the envelope. Every distance runner in high school saw Galen at the 2012 olympics and thought that could be them one day and now look at our talent stacked country. Kick rocks
YONG KIM if you think what lance did was “cheating” you live under a rock and you need to move on. One of those tour wins, the next 26 competitors also got popped for PED’s. Lance wasn’t cheating, lance was competing on an even playing field.
Now! Now! The NOP runners all have naturally low levels of testosterone so they need test gels. And all the guys in the Tour du France have asthma and need bronchodilators. Why so cynical.
You'd have to be significantly sub 4 mins to even get a look in. There are 10 athletes in the UK this season of 19 years old and under who have run sub 3:50. And 66 more who have run sub 4. What they do is look for talent that they can improve, because they can see mistakes they can correct or you are getting great performances from low training. If you are training hard and running 3:50 they are less interested than if you are running 3:59 and are 10lbs overweight.
Nike kills me ..... Team USPS / Lance Armstrong and Oregon Project in running (and other). Nike to the projects: "Keep us out of it. We hear nothing and see nothing and say nothing .... but if it fully goes sideways with all your drugging and EPO, we'll then be taking the high road and cutting you off clean." Pffffft. Let's see NIke put some of their massive profits into anti-doping instead. I haven't bought a single Nike product ever since Nike "shockingly discovered" and Lance Armstrong and Livestrong was all a cheat and hoax.
