    I have a claw machine and the machine is set at £1 for 3 plays. I would like the customer to be able to put in any variation of coins for this to happen. example 5x20p (=£1) or 2x50p (=£1) or 3x10p, 1x20p, 1x50p (=£1). Is this possible with the multicoin? If so how is this set?

    Dont forget theres two different types of 2p coins and also 2 different 10p coins, magnetic and non magnetic. Program each type separately if you happen to be using these. :-)

    It's a shame they didn't keep a little mod i asked them to do for me some 10 years or so ago. It allowed one extra setting - Number of Points per pulse.
    What this means, was if you had (for example a 60 in 1 video game) then you could allow the acceport to take 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 - and the selector would NOT give a pulse until it had (for example) 20p. Without this, you cannot have someone feed 2 x 5p and a 10p to get a single "pulse".
    So 5p gave 1 "point", 10p gave 2 "points" and so on. the mech then counted the number of points and each time it got to 4 (if you wanted 20p a game), it would output one pulse. A 50p could give 10 points (2.5 credits) or you could make it give 15 points - 3 games for a 50p
    It seems they no longer have that little option - which is a pity.
    Useful reminder video though, thanks.

    I just purchase the VEVOR Coin Operated Timer Control Box Multi Coin Acceptor Power Supply with Push Button
    and was having problems changing from seconds to minutes for each quarter I put in to last 15 minute, but I got to change to 15 minutes instead of seconds but the electricity doesn't kick in, only when it is set for seconds.

    I have new version of this coin acceptor it has 6 LEDs above the button and it is NOT true that white wire will pulse! It is the grey wire called COUNTER!
    Why I am putting exclamation marks... because I spent 7 days figuring out finally I ordered o-scope and checked it. The white wire is a coin detector pulse it pulses with low voltage when the coin is inserted whether it is accepted or not. The grey wire will pulse only after coin is accepted with the amount of pulses you have selected.
    I had to setup my raspberry pi for open collector as the pulse is just grounding to GND.
    Instruction for this sucks and I hope I will save somebody the time!

    • @guyt6329

      White wire pulls a high signal (eg: 12v) down to ground as that is how most coin input lines work. The grey wire, (I think) is a positive going pulse instead.
      Most kit needs the pull down WHITE wire - but if you want a positive going pulse, then perhaps the grey option works for you.

    During sampling, can we put in different variations of the same coin denomination? Should we program for all possible variations of a coin denomination for the acceptor to work? What about if an already programmed coin is inserted flipped?

    THANKS FOR YOU VID . VERY EASY TO FOLLOW . I AM TURNING MY OLD 1970S COIN RIDE TO THE MECH . CHANGE THE OLD SLIDER COIN TO A NICE MODERN COIN INTAKE . + I CAN CHARGE A £1 A GO NOW NOT 10P LOL HAVE A QUESTION ? HOW COULD I FOR EXAMPLE SET IT TO 50P FOR 1 GO £1 FOR 3 GOES . WOULD I NEED TO BUY SOMETHING LIKE A CREDIT BOARD WITH A TIMER TO SEND OUT EXTRA PULES AFTER RIDE HAS STOPED TO RE START RIDE WITH OUT INSETING MORE COINS ? SORRY IF THIS DOES NOT MAKE MUCH SENCE

    • @craynerd

      seaside salon thanks for watching. You could very easily do that using an arduino. You would hook up the arduino to the coin acceptor on an input pin and another output pin for the game machine. You can set the pulses to whatever you what for whatever coin you want but for argument sake you could have £1 pulse 3 times and 50p pulse 1 time. Then you would code the arduino to 'Rungame == pulseNumber' so the arduino would just run the game how ever many pulses. Obviously that's just off he top of my head as I'm not sure how you actually activate the game but to answer your question it could easily be done.
      Can you link me to the sort of game you are talking about? I've no project on at present and if they aren't stupid money to buy, it sounds like a fun plan and how to video!!

      Hi thanks for your quick response . Its not accualy a game its a kids sit on train ride that you insert a 10p in to a old silver coin mec and then the ride will start moving back and foe . The old coin mecs that have sliders always get jammed and are a pain . so how the old coin mech work is u put 10p in its slides down and the pushes a wire down on a switch that will then trigger the ride to run for 2 minutes , what i need is to work out how when the ride stops the ride will start again a further 2 times if you insert a £1 , as having a direct 3 x pulse straight to the ride will not work . so it needs like something to send the 3 pules to like a credit board and for that then to re send the pule after like 2 minutes for example . or have a credit board that sends out a pulse when you press a button . ( button could be added if need be) U could put life into the old rides again with a new coin mech .

      seaside salon obviously it's tricky without seeing it but by the sounds of it, you have a mechanical switch with will be difficult to control without swapping it for something like a relay. If you look at my change machine video I use a relay from an arduino. If you swapped out the mechanical switch for an arduino controlled relay it'd be fairly simple I think. You could then simply say 1 pulse press relay once (or hold relay for two minutes) or three pulses press relay, wait 2 minutes press relay, wait two minutes press relay! How were you intending for the machine to start if you removed the mechanical switch?

    • @seasidesalon1468
      @seasidesalon1468 7 років тому

      oh yes what you said by there makes sence . to start the ride i could add a start button to the ride press to trigger relay . but would this arduino board (that only today watching your vid knew exsited) know how many times to send out a pulseafter the first 2 minutes . for example if you put coin in ... press start ... it send a signal to relay to start ... that then sends a pulse ... once the 2 minute ride has finished would it know there was 2 goes left at the same cycle ? baicly like a credit board .. getting into all this as its so interesting (love stuff like this) and then yes ive seen the change machine clip . and thats given me another idea . at my shop i have a old wall vending machine thats not worked for years . but nice lock cabinet . so going to strip the guts out of it buy all the bits you had and give it a go . I have few hoppers from old fruit machine already . as the vendning machine has a drop area it could work ... plus it be used as well in my shop i need to change 1 big token to 5 small tokens ..... for use on the sunbeds . if u hear a bang from your end its ONLY ME ....

    another quick question . easier to give you a example / if i want the price of play to be 50p that i will require 1 pulse to send . how do i programme or can it be programmed to take 5 x 10p before it sends a pulse . thanks Carl

    • @craynerd
      @craynerd  7 років тому +2

      No it can't. Each coin inserted will immediately pulse. The Way of achieving what you are asking is to do something like, 1 pulse for a 10p , 2 pulse for a 20p and 5 pulses for 50p.
      You would then hook up an arduino and have a variable count the pulses. NumberofPulses. You could then have a function code called Run which turns the machine on or turns the relay on which runs the machine. So then when NumberofPulses == 5 we 'Run'.
      The arduino will then simply wait for pulses. If you put a 50p in it'll run immediately or wait for 5 pulses in the form of 5 x 10p coins or even two 20p and a 10p.
      In an earlier comment you mentioned about £1 giving three goes. If you wanted to do this you could introduce a short 30 second delay. If pulses == 10 (I.e a £1 inserted) within 20 seconds or a button being pressed, it'll run three times.
      I'm not saying any of this is the best way of doing it but it'll work!

      They used to allow this very mode (youo could set how many "points" each coin made and then an overall setting let you choose how many "points" made one pulse.
      Many years ago, i was buying a lot of this type of mech for arcade tables - and they agreed to do the points>pulse mod. it worked really well - and no need for extra processing / arduinos etc
      I don't know why they removed this option, it was really useful when allowing low value coins to be used where perhaps five 20p cpoins might be used for a £1 game.

    1. you plugin power in 12v powe supply Black earth And red power. And the same thing you plugged under encoder the black earth and the pulse yes ? pulse itself i use mini pac ?

    • @craynerd

      KRIS B Hi Kris, the 12v supply has two cables, red 12v and black ground 0v. This is the same wiring to the coin acceptor, red to red and black to black.
      The pulse wire goes to whatever device you are sending the pulse two, normally some for of microprocessor.

    Anyway to set a minimum? I want to make my washer coin operated. I don't want it to stop mid cycle.

    • @craynerd
      @craynerd  7 років тому

      Nicholas Joly I believe most people use a relay timer for washers so the coin hopper turns on a relay for certain amount of time when different amount of money is added. So £1 might give you 10 minutes and £1.50 20 minutes. The timer receives the pulses from the coin acceptor and then turns the washer on via a relay for the correct amount of time.

    • @guyt6329
      @guyt6329 2 роки тому

      Amazing how many people would have found the old points > pulse counter useful. For some reason, it seems they took that mod out - so every coin must give at least 1 pulse. So you now need an extra gadget (arduino / stamp etc) to "count pulses" before giving a pulse to the device you want.

    hey thanks for the video.
    I'm using a dual power supply and when i set it to 12v and connect the coin accepter the voltage drops to 6.8V but the coin accepter powers ON.
    Now the problem is after i set the parameters and then when i press and hold the set button then E doesnt appear and i don't know if the setup is saved or not. After the setup when i press the setup button then 'A' appears and then again when i press and hold set button the 'A1' appears and now when i go for sampling then the 7 segmment shows 0 and the process terminates.
    i dont understand what could be the problem.

      The white wire GROUNDS the coin input wire as i recall - so needs a common power supply with the unit being powered (unless you want to use something like a reed relay).
      So the main unit is powered from the same supply as the coin mech (common ground), and the game board then usually has a coin input line which is pulled HIGH (eg: it sits at 12v perhaps). The white wire from the mech, then basically "shorts" the input line to 0v to give it the !pulse".

They are brilliant because you can rip one out of a dead PC for free or cheap from a repair shop, and they supply a clean 5v to power an arduino, as well as 12v which you can use to run a hopper and controller! I am afraid I can’t currently make a video as I don’t have one to hand and into a clock making project. Search converting pc power to bench power supply. Loads of videos on line. If I remember rightly, just a case of joining two wires with a resistor ... :-)
