If you want to keep up with players such as simo, skandear, nixion or link, you have to go all-in and no in between, even if there is some luck involved. I don't mind losing as long as things are interesting and spicy and that's what you can expect if you want to compete against the best in kacky.
Simo has above all just been very nice guy. My first ever time going online in TMNF was to attempt to play a hyped event, Kackiest Kacky 4. I don't think I got a finish that event, but Simo was always online hunting during my weird hours I was on, and he would help as much as I asked.
This video is way beyond expectations for someone with this little subscribers. The editing and writing in this videos was nigh-flawless, with only blemish being, imo, pacing and narration. To put it simply - felt a bit too fast paced, especially in more dramatic parts. But only slightly. Either way, really hope someone like you will take off as this quality needs to be appreciated by alot more people. I say that as someone who doesn't even play Trackmania but has been fascinated by its competitive and mapping scene. Ironically, Simo's Final Enigma being the thing that hooked my interest (you can bathe in the atmosphere of that map from merely watching someone playing it)
Wow, that was an incredible video!! You keep outdoing yourself every time, and this time I also find the topic as surprising as it is fascinating. Thank you Simo and Betta for this incredible insight into the life of a top level player. This is silly to admit, but it's the truth: I didn't really consider Simo struggling mentally throughout his journey. To think that even a player like Simo struggles with feelings of self doubt, downplaying your skills...on one hand, it makes absolute sense, and it feels like I should have known this from the get go; but also, it's... "humbling"?, in a way, to truly realize that no one is above questioning themselves, their abilities, etc. I was shocked to find out that Simo really joined kk during kk5. I feel like Simo is a player who's name I've always known, and if you had asked me, I would have guessed that simo was a part of the team that started Kackiest Kacky from the beginning. Simo absolutely found his place in this community, and you did a wonderful job at portraying it, and in my humble opinion, you really did Simo's story justice 💖 I will also add that, the quote at 8:00 about Simo's emotions while playing hit me hard, specifically because I have the opposite situation, where it's hard for me to handle failure, and I am prone to letting my emotions get the best of me, like shame after a bunch of fails, or pressure after a bunch of successes. I am convinced that this affects my abilities as a player, and in a way, it feels validating to know that someone else feels this way too ^^' Congrats Simo for your incredible journey, and Betta for this wonderful storytelling ✨
Instant sub from me. Quality vid. I hate to throw comparisons around but this felt like an early Wirt doc, which you def should take as a compliment. Looking forward to more tm content in the future!
Loved the commentary, I'm one of those viewers that hardly plays Trackmania, yet I watch so much Trackmania videos on UA-cam & these types of videos are my absolute favorite. You did a great job of pulling the viewer in. I hope the work you put into this pays off & you gain the views & attention you deserve. You just earned a subscriber in me, thanks for hidden story we didn't know we needed, best of luck 👍
Betta, wtf is this monument of a minidoc? Amazing filmic scenes and tension in each chapter. Those small bits in between when simo's car is on the scrapers and looking down onto the maps - just brilliant to fill pauses but also to let it feel a bit like CARS - gives just the car itself so much emotion, and kind of like a transformer's vibe of "the car chooses its driver" (not that I am fan of those movies, but you get the drift). The last tidbit around the three last minutes - doing that same angle cam and switching to the first series last map, just bringing the viewer back to the struggles, excitement and tension of the player - perfect bracket. Narration and writing ACE, the after effects zoom in onto the graph Works brilliantly, you havent lost me one second although its just 4 -5 animated dots climbing in x and y. YOu could easily send this one in to shortfilm competitions... just one tiny thing: at the end of iteration7, you have those countdowns of the timer, and one might ask themself, why is one done and the others still play - not sure if you mentioned it at the beginning, but if I wouldnt have known the format, I am not sure one would understand that those maps run on servers where maps are going in full rotation, meaning you only have the chance to finish that map when it is its turn; and not 50 servers running constantly with all maps at the same time. Also meaning it was the player's last chance as Kacky would be over after that cycle. Also at the beginning you mention his lack of self-confidence - did he say anything on the forums or voice chat or something? Or is this a presumption?
Thanks so much for the lovely comment! It genuinely made my day. ❤️ I realized the countdown thing after already posting, didn’t even cross my mind to clarify that as a longtime kacky player who’s been used to the format for what feels like forever. I’ll be sure to keep it in mind if it ever comes up again in the future, thanks for the feedback! I worked closely with Simo in Discord dms while writing the doc, and this was something that he mentioned to me while talking about his beginnings in TM. Hopefully that clears it up
I thought this was at least 100k+ sub channel just do to your amazing storytelling, pacing & cinematic work. It wasn’t after until I noticed you only had 5k, I can’t wait to see this channel blow up man you deserve it.
I really love the dramatic narration about kacky events. Kacky is like the pillow fighting division of boxing. Backwards running of endurance marathons. Playing chess on a trampoline. Truly peak competition.
Honestly, this may be the best documentary I've ever seen. The editing is top-tier, the intense plot, and now I'm craving KK9, and I hope to see simo there
It's so nice seeing simo getting some recognition, he's undoubtedly up there as one of the best Trackmania players ever. The thing is, it makes little sense to talk about "best trackmania player", since there are so many different styles, but simo is definitely the best at what he does.
even though i have left trackmania and kacky (because of the lost of confidence in myself when i try to play tmnf/uf also 2020), i was just watching simo just climb to the top, he was a titan for me, an unbeatable one. all i can say is that he will never be beaten ever again, no one shall try to become better than him, and good thing he is working something out of trackmania, because i know it consumes alot of your time and confidence but it all paid out. gg's to simo and also i will probably be returning to tm in 2024. absolutely the goat of kacky, and a mark in the trackmania history books.
simo was the person that inspired me to get into RPG and trial maps and which is a style that i really enjoy playing and have gotten into building due to him
I now see why UA-cam kept recommending this video to me: An interesting story wrapped in high-quality editing and enjoyable story-telling. Really good video :)
Now that was a great video. Truly well made, you had me standing on my chair for a moment. Your editing is exceptional. I think we have another Wirtual type youtuber cooking guys.
wtf bro! you deserve so much more, the quality of your content is crazy good, everything is well realized, the voice the history the editing. Cant wait to see more from you!!!
As someone who has never played nor been interested in track mania that much, i must say this story telling is amazing. Really got me invested in the story, keep up the good work
I somehow clicked this video and became confused when I realized this wasn't a Wirtual video, great job on the script and editing! I hope you'll grow just as well!
Agree with the majority of the comments: your video is amazing, well explained and has good story-telling. Nonetheless I find the music to be a bit too loud sometimes, covering your voice and setting some kind of epic mood where I don't really feel the need like it (i.e. 5:30)
beautiful video. you don't overstate anything, all the suspense is warranted, you aren't afraid to kill the suspense when you know something bigger is coming. that restraint can be hard in the exaggerated world of youtube. when some videos literally have vine booms every 10 seconds.
Enjoyable video. One suggestion I might give is to pay a bit more attention to spacing between voiced lines. You seem to space them at even intervals for a lot of the video, which doesn't feel too natural to human speech, and can make the pacing feel off at points. Minor gaps between lines at times that feel more natural would do great for the build up of suspense and the flow of it all. One more thing is that you may want to give some moments time to breathe. The emotional and storytelling climax of the video, simo finishing the last map for the three-peat, would have paid off much better if we were able to see the finish, the reactions, just generally swimming in some simulacrum of the moment as it happened, and then the words you had about it coming after. However, those are minor complaints. This video took a lot of effort and tackled the sort of structural storytelling challenge of a 50 to 75 map competition pretty well, and your visuals were nicely done. I forgot to subscribe before, but I have done so now. Looking forward to your future stuff.
few things in life can beat chilling in simo's chat during Kacky, saying huomenta to every new face, playing the cat game or just spinning like a fish and watching him play the next despair map... EDIT: feels surreal to see myself in Simo's chat when he finished -173...
great video .. one just has to love trackmania for the endless possibilities (when it comes to maps and even "game modes") it offers.. also huge respect to simo for sticking with his passions and achieving greatness
Great video, the only thing i would want to recommend is to make music quieter, as sometimes it becomes hard to concentrate and hear what storyteller says.
Amazing video! Really proffesional in regards to production quality and storytelling. Just a quick fyi tho: the graphs reveal whether the players do or do not beat the last maps. May have been intentional or unimportant, didn't actually bother me too much, just wanted to point it out in case you missed it ;) but sick job!
Finding out Wirtual won KK4 was like getting flashbanged
Yeah I was not expecting that
I saw the Norway car and was like “no way…”
I don’t understand much of trackmania, why is it that surprising that this guy won?
Same for me.

Simo really is a stand out mapper in TrackMania, every map is build to perfection.
And thank you for all the LaBomba hunting sessions of years past. They were great to watch!
What a fantastic video, flawless story-line, amazing editing, incredible performance by Simo, man, I hope you are proud because you've done it :)
