What a genuine treat this video was! I have never been to Ilkley, but after watching this it is going on my list. What a lovely town it looks, super architecture and quite grand and the moor looks both bleak and dramatic in equal measure, which I love. Fantastic music score too. The whole package was great; thank you.
Even though you had a cold on this day, Patrick, you did well to continue with your walk which you enjoyed, and we certainly have appreciated the content. The Cow and Calf rocks are an amazing spectacle up on the moor there, and impressively huge. The view from the top is very beautiful indeed. Ilkley looks to be a great town to visit, the buildings look splendid, and it's not too far out to visit. Thank you for the video, Patrick, it's been a real pleasure to watch. Take care.
Yes I can remember developing a rough cold when I came here this day, and it stayed with me for the next few days whilst staying near the Yorkshire Dales. I do remember it was a lovely spot though, but due to my cold I shortened the route I was planning to do. Managed to capture some great footage through all the same. Thanks for watching Ffranc 👍
@@solitaryrambler i am from india, i am really belonging from a middle class family, I've heard about this place, and I also know this place has a lot of mysteries. I don't have much money to visit, but i dream abt it could u please tell me should I visit this place or not? And if yes then why? What was your experience please tell me, i dream abt this place, is this appropriate? Please tell me. And surprisingly the case of Philip Spencer made me grew a wish to visit this place.
Wow. Another of my fave towns but never been up there with the stones beautiful tho . Amazing 😉 I could do with that on my spine gives me some jip. Awwwww such a lovely town . Very lovely 😊
Enjoyed this video. Walked from Shipley & over the moor to Ilkley last year on the hottest day of the year, was a great solitary experience, not a sound or person around for 2 hours untill i got to the 12 appostles.
Nice one, thanks for the kind words. I was on my way to Gargrave when I stopped here for the day to shoot this. Would have filmed more but was feeling rough at the time. Must go back and see more of Ilkley Moor one day 👍
Just discovered your videos Patrick.I've also just returned from Ilkley moor and again walking the moor walks which I have been doing since 1955 when my great uncle introduced me to the area which I dearly love ,the moor is full of Neolithic carvings , on walks ,Druid stones ,on another walk to the Doubler stones you pass a ancient swastika carving. A wonderful country we live in. I have followed the Taxi driver as I like walking, but I like your informative and historical narrative and will continue to follow your other journeys in England , if you have time some day you should try Scotland , but you've got your shoes full down where you . I make movies of my walks and car events .Yours are excellent HD ones .keep up the good work🤝
Thank you for your kind comments Stuart, much appreciated! I would love to make some videos in Scotland someday, so hopefully one day! Thanks for watching. Cheers, Patrick :-)
Having only seen The rocky outcrop from the road below , made me envious of your trip , i hope one day to climb up onto ilkley moor and get as close upto both the cow and calf as you did Patrick ... You certainly did sseem abit below the weather but as usual , you didnt dissapoint my friend ... Both myself and lee throughly enjoyed this great film , keep up the good work ..Take care mate ..... Frank and Lee ....
Thanks my friends, a lovely moor indeed. I did a shorter walk than planned due to that cold, but it was still a great walk all the same. Hopefully you'll get there one day. If you get a train to Ilkley it's not far to walk up to Cow and Calf. Thanks again Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)
Its on Our list of things to do Patrick , yes were travelling over there late august , by train , its a lovely little town , we took much of it in when we travelled through it , last year ...
Would love to bump into Patrick on one of my walks,to tell him in person how we love these films and the accompanying music,I'v decided they're better than anything on tv and now turn it off and watch three or four of these instead.
I'd watched quite a few of your films previously Patrick, but in no particular order, and just choosing what I would like to look at,but in the new year I decided to start at the pilot and watch every minute of every film, and here I am on the 31st of January at film number 70 and I have loved every minute of them, and look forward to the next 38. This is a walk I planned on doing last autumn but had to change plans and never made it,I thought I had done a bit of research but I never knew the ufo story, and I didn't know of the White wells,it was great to see though what it would have been like and will look forward to doing it some other time. Thanks for pressing on and continuing with the film even though you didn't feel well,it's much appreciated. All the best and take care. Pete.
My first time to this neck of the woods, but I was inspired to visit Cow and Calf Rocks from watching other people's videos on UA-cam. I had started to develop this rough cold at the time of filming this, so the walk I had planned to do was very much cut down, but I was still pleased with what I managed to do. Thanks again for commenting Pete and for watching :)
Gave it another watch as I went for a walk over the moor yesterday, was even a bit of snow about! Did you make it up to the trig point? The view up there is fantastic, yesterday could see Bleak Low in the Peak District to the south, a snowy Pendle Hill to the west and the North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds to the east. Fantastic. Enjoyed the video (again!). Thanks.
Bet it looked lovely up there with the snow. I don't think I got to the trig point. I did a very small walk on the moor in I was feeling really rough with this cold as I recall, so ended up not walking very far. Love to go back one day and see a bit more. Thanks for giving it another watch! :-)
