Agree 100%! My 2 peach trees are 4 yrs this spring and both are loaded down with fruit. I've been thinking, spraying and bagging to protect them. My trees dropped a good amount of leaves during a couple rainy days. Im in NE Alabama and I pray my peaches makes it to harvest this first time. It's bloomed a little past 2 yrs but I didn't mess with it until last fall started spraying. Missed early spring spray but caught up right after pollination. So yea,
I'm pretty gardener but I hear peaches are one of hardest fruit to get to harvest.

Thank you for this! My nectarine (not a white one) has it. It's a dwarf one, so it's not big. Planted it last year. It's very dry here, we're not got any rain in the last weeks. I watered it sometimes, but it was not enough I think.

Thank you, Dan. I have quite a few curled leaves on my peach tree and it already has fruit. I just spent about an hour picking off what I could reach. The fruit are very small yet, but I was going to head to the store and pick up some fungicide. I'm glad I stumbled on your video and you recommended waiting until fall because I immediately thought of the beneficial insects being hurt by spraying. I live in Wisconsin, Zone 5b. We've had a lot of rain lately. I'm assuming I should only prune back branches before leaves start to open...so it's too late at this point for me??

Treat very young trees more aggressively because they can have enough leaves affected to interfere with photosynthesis

I have same issues with my nectarine tree. Tree looked scary last year but this year it has only few leaves that looks sickly without any treatment. Thanks for the tips, I’ll treat it in the fall and late winter next year.
Is it safe to eat the fruits from this tree?

So I have pear trees now the one tree has pink spots on the leaves. These are the first set of leaves coming out. Should I just let the tree alone or pull some leaves off that are and leave the others that have no pink spots. These trees were just planted last year. Thanks. I did not spray dormant spray. Kinda new to fruit trees not real sure what to spray or when.

Watched your video, very informative, thank you.Just subscribed also. Want my peach tree about 6 ft tall, I did not prune it. It will be in the ground 2 years come September. I have a lot of peaches but they don't seem to be getting any larger, they are about the size of a walnut maybe a little bigger. Should I discard some of the peaches and leave three or four on a branch? I will be pruning come February.

You should remove all flowers in year one and leave a couple on year two or even remove them all again to allow tree to put energy into developing.

My whole tree all leaves are curl up and it is invasive now. The rest of the peach plants are all like that. The tree also have many fruiting and I’m not sure what to do. Should I just leave it alone? Can I still spray it now ? Do I chop all of the branches and little fruits? Or leave it alone and let this cycle complete? Can I still eat those fruit?

Cobalt deficiency in the soil causes this kind of infection. Root cause is that the plants are unable to process arginine due to this deficiency. Fungus feeds on this excess arginine.

    • @ceecmb
      @ceecmb 4 роки тому +4

Two options here: Slower option is add rock dust which contains plenty of cobalt. Faster option is Rebound Cobalt

I have read a lot of articles for peach leaf curl. The Universities say to not remove the leaves; it doesn't help and even decreases photosynthesis. Backyard gardeners say to remove them.
With that being said, the universities state that spores come from the leaves, infecting the tree for the next year. So... that leads me to believe that removing infected leaves will stop more spore spread.
    Conflicting information!
Furthermore, too much copper spray kills the good fungus in the soil, leading to poor soil health and a weaker tree... that will now be more susceptible to disease.
Damned if you do and damned if you don't!🫤
I got Peach leaf curl last year and am trying Daconil spray in fall and then early spring. If that does not work I will take the tree out. I'm at the point where I am eliminating plants that require too much spray. It is easier and cheaper to go to an orchard and pick what I need if I need to spray as much as they do anyways.
