I know most GR from compilations. After hearing "More Depalma..." by the time it was released i end up downloading the whole Blood and Affection and liked it, agreeing with the general opinion of a good listening without standouts. Was really interested on dig in more of them, so great you guys came out with this video! I just rushed to "My Republic" and i'm finding it really good but too much poppy! I always had the impression of GR being more straight hc. To me, their vocalist fits with agressive songs, so i was expecting more of that! I'll be jumping to Symptons and i'm also interested on Ballads. I relate to you guys and I'm addicted to your videos, keep on doing it! Cheers from Brazil!
Yeah My Republic isn't for everyone, it's super clean sounding. I can't remember if I told this story in the video or not but I got My Republic (On CD) the week I was going on vacation in Florida. We had rented a car to get around and that was the only CD I brought with me, so I had a ton of time to connect with it between all the drives to the parks and the flight. Not sure if that came in to play or not. But yeah I would definitely make a point to check out Symptoms, it still has some of the harder edge from the earlier stuff while having some heavy pop punk leanings.
@@PunkRockRadar oh yes. Symptoms is the S tier for me. The perfect blend! Fun thing is that the better songs are the not so fast ones(Yestedays and Trial) 😂 definitely made it thru my spotify main playlist
John and Louis going D for Comprehensive is a massive take ! hehe For me thats right on Tier S. As an old 41 years punk rocker, this album is straight nostalgia! Weight of the world, Credit to his gender, Last Believer, Favorite Son, Steps...those are still songs played in shows! Cheers, I enjoy your video
Really think “The Phenomenon of Craving” should’ve gotten a mention on here. I know it’s an EP, but they’re standalone songs. One for the Braves is one of their most memorable songs. It also has nostalgia for me because it was their first release I listened to.
What would your S look like? Feel like we went pretty off the rails here, based on the people I've talked to. Most seem to think the band started at their peak and slowly descended.

Took me a little While to wrap this up. First of all, I’m from Brazil and older than you, so My concerns regard production and afecttive memories are so diferent than yours. The first time o heras this band was right after they released their first album, So here we go. S - symptons, bound A - My republic; for god B - peace in our time; comprehensive guide C - ballads, thoughts D - op phoenix ; cover ups.
For me: S Comprehensive Bound A Thoughts Ballads B My Republic Peace C Operation For God D Symptoms Cover Ups Symptoms never did anything for me. Apart from yesterdays headlines, I cant recall anything from it. Maybe I'll give it another spin. I really enjoyed the latest album. Precariat is top tier
It's so tough to judge them, I LOVED Symptoms when it came out so I have a real attachment to it, I would definitely give it another shot especially Trial of the Century
I've been trying for about 20 years to like the album, I just can't get there... I know those first few are thought of very highly so I expect to get roasted
That's pretty funny, if you talk to most GR fans they think the opposite, but I would 100% start at My Republic. It's the most accessible, best production, best musicianship (IMO) It's probably the album with the least filler too. Thanks as always Erik!

despite our differences we both still have Symptoms on the top tier, Looks like biggest differences are FGAC and Operation Phoenix
Early Good Riddance is untouchable 🤘🏻 Up to Symptoms of a Levelling Spirit. The 1st two albums and their EP not mentioned are the best!

I think you’re better off starting with ballads or comprehensive guide, they have their catchiest songs imo
