Wow. I lost some confidence in you guys today. Triple F for Alloy Saves!?! Mannnnn. That is one of my all time favorite experimental albums. The best ALL album. I stand by that.
Pummel is a criminally underrated record. I think there is a lot of bias among the general punk loving public due to it being a major label release, but I believe it is one of the great pop punk records of all time.
Yeah I fell in to that camp for a long time, even though I have no problem with major label albums. It's strange since I think a large percentage of punk fans may not even be aware that it's a major label release.
songs like "Long Distance" and "Miranda" alone merit high B/low A status; its not thaaat consistent but the good songs on that one are some of the best either All or Descendents have made...love Pummel!!
It drives me nuts watching these (not even sure why I do!) If it's not late 90's - early 2000's pop punk they just don't seem to get it. They'd rather listen to the generic tripe on 'Problematic' than the genius on display on albums like Pummel and Breaking Things and all the unique early records.
Re: Allroy Saves. For me…. It’s like the whole album was made so that “Explorador” could be put on it. That song (the lyrics) is just gut wrenching when you know about Bill’s loss of his friend Pat. Bill is an amazing song writer.
Problematic and Mass Nerder over I dont want to grow up, milo and Allroys revenge?! Wow guys. Im gonna quote one of my favorite actors “i like you, but youre crazy”
I started really enjoyng music when I was 11 in 1991. The first band I got fanatic fot was Anthrax, and then Slayer, and then Beastie Boys, and then Primus, and so on. I also went very deep into Hip-Hop old school, and alternative like Manic Street Preachers. And finally, I got deep into this punk rock shit. Good Riddance, No use for a Name, Nofx, Face to Face, Lagwagon, Descendents....Etc. Definitely, Descendents Everything Sux is my fav from Descendents, a wonderful album, released in a great period of my life. But when I discovered ALL in the Punk-o-Rama with "World's on Heroin" I found this song so catchy and in a different texture from all the punk rock stuff....And once I asked a guy back in Brasil where I'm from, what he found of ALL, and he said "Chad Price" is the best singer in the world. And I somehow I got very into ALL, and started thinking that as well, specially when I heard "Live Plus One" from ALL, and I noticed how powerful his voice is. But I wouldn't say ALL is into my 5 fav bands, but for sure, to me, Chad is the best voice in Rock n' Roll history, along with John Bush (Anthrax era), John Foggerty....And, the ALL song www.sara from Problematic, is the , MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER MADE. I don't refer to the lyrics (Which I got to know what it's about from the real Sara, who sadly passed away in 2017) but the music itself. Hearing Chad yealling "What went wrong" gives me goosebumps. It's so sad that this song was played live only twice by them. Once I contacted Bill's wife on Facebook, and begged her to beg Bill to play this song live, and he hated me "bothering" his wife. I bet he wouldn't think so if it was Paul McCartney asking this. And he said they will not play this songs, and there's no plans to. I got very sad and hurt. My fac tune in Rock n' Roll History won't be played live anymore, and the bad thing is, the song only works with Chad Price. WWW. SARA is the song I want played at my funeral.
Thanks so much for watching! I really enjoyed this message and it sounds like we see eye to eye as far as Descendents albums go. I agree about www.sara and Problematic in general, needs more love
If I was here I’d put Enjoy in A tier lmao I fucking loveeeee that album Sour Grapes is my favourite by Descendents Also you guys really should rank NOFX
NOFX definitely coming. It was the first one we ever did, but the video/audio/content quality was so poor that I took it down. Once they release all these records this year, I'm going to do a full discography ranking, Albums, EPs, B-Sides, the works. It will be worth the wait!
"All" (the band) is still solid its just not the decendants but i like their music. Milo just haf the "it" factor hes an iconic frontman that you just cannot replace even if you change the name of the band.
Scott is my favorite All singer. Good writer and very expressive voice. I never could get into any of the Chad Price records. Dave really shines on Allroy for Prez but I never liked the production of Allroy Sez. Too digital sounding. Like a bunch of beer commercials. I did like Don Quixote off that album a lot though.
Justice for Percolater, holy shit. That album has some weird stuff but the highs are SO GOOD. Like unfuckwithable good. Dot, Nothin', Minute, Breathe. Some of their best and that's REALLY saying something.
When it comes to Pummel, the thing is that it's radically inconsistent. The best songs on the album are some of the best songs ever written on the Descendents/All catalog. Meanwhile the lower end is some of the absolute worst material the band ever wrote.
It's tough to rank all these together...I don't think you guys are too far off what my ranks would be..my first All album was Allroy for Prez, the EP...so I have a ton of nostalgia for that one...
I quite like the lists actually. Agree on all the top albums. I'd have the last 2 Descendents albums higher, if there were spots. Mass Nerder and Everything Sux are my S tier too ;)
They're my all time favorite so of course I'm biased, but I disagreed a lot with this. Maybe I'm weird but I really enjoy percolator, also you forgot about new girl old story
Yeah I think our lists are a bit skewed since we all started listening to both bands after 2000 so a lot of that older stuff didn't get that fresh listen that you need sometimes.
I feel like Im just full of hot takes when it comes to descendents/all. Ive always seemed to gravitate towards All. I remember buying problematic first (cool cover art) and playing it on my cd walkman at school. The All live cd was on loop for weeks, too. The early stuff has some gems but I hate the sound on pretty much any sst/cruz album that it tends to put me off going back to them. I would also put cool to be you over everything sucks. one more day is brilliant. i think ill spend the week relistening to all the albums, some Ive not heard for years😶
@@PunkRockRadar I checked out a few of their albums and so far, I like Cool to be you and Hypercaffium the most. Everything sux is a little too rough for me. Overall, great band.
Good video! Tho it's really hard for me to agree with ranking hypercaffium over milo goes to college. Yeah, the production is way better but MGTC has a lot of stand out songs that Hypercaffium simply does not have. I also disagree with placing Sez over Percolater. Both aren't ALL's best work but Dot carries Percolater so so hard, Sez has nothing that stands out in my opinion. Overall, I think I'm closest to Dylan in my rankings, but I'd still make some changes
I think breaking things has better songs and energy than pummel, but I would agree pummel is a more consistent album, and breaking things has a lot of weird annoying stuff
Respectfully you don’t know what you’re talking about and this is a bad list😂 ALL and Descendents are THE BEST punk rock bands of all time HANDS DOWN. No group comes close to the level of song writing and variety as them. The ranking for Revenge and Sez are particularly crazy, Sex in the Way and Carnage are absolutely amazing. Amazing musicians you guys should really listen more and give them more credit. ALL!!
This tier system wouldn't work for me. Maybe with S A+ A B+ B C 😅it seems that you guys just got forced to listen to that low quality produced ALL older stuff all at once for the first time, hence the lower ranks. I see they have a lot of filler songs, but if you make a big compilation of the better songs from Dave and Scott's era you'll get an S tier!
This is exactly right, the All stuff was pretty foreign to (me at least) us. I listened to it here and there over the past 25 years but totally bleeds together in bulk
Wow. I lost some confidence in you guys today. Triple F for Alloy Saves!?! Mannnnn. That is one of my all time favorite experimental albums. The best ALL album. I stand by that.
Nah they’re right. I’ll quadruple them F’s. That album was singlehandedly the worst ALL record made

Props for combining ALL and Descendents. I didn’t think you guys would do it. I love Allroy's Revenge, kinda disappointing to see it so low.
Yeah we didn't plan on it, but this is a channel for the people ❤️
true,I would put revenge and pummel on S

Yeah it feels bad, I think I screwed up Milo Goes to College for sure, I should have had A the more I think about it
Cool to be you is better than everything sucks

@@PunkRockRadar awesome
Wanting 80s punk to sound polished is insane to me.
I literally 👀when I saw this pop on my feed. Excited to see how this pans out!
It's a divisive list for sure. Thanks for always supporting 🤟
"All" (the band) is still solid its just not the decendants but i like their music. Milo just haf the "it" factor hes an iconic frontman that you just cannot replace even if you change the name of the band.
I've only heard Everything Sucks so thanks for the education!
Thanks as always Erik!
Great video! Just discovering the channel.
Thank you so much for checking out the video! Next month we'll be covering the Vandals ;)
Time to start refreshing my memory!!

It's at least an A, I botched that one 😑

Yeah we almost had it on here, I think it's the best of the first 4 releases
Everything Sux is definietly the best Descendents album. And when it comes to ALL, Pummel is so fking underrated.
I quite like the lists actually. Agree on all the top albums. I'd have the last 2 Descendents albums higher, if there were spots. Mass Nerder and Everything Sux are my S tier too ;)

I agree with most of this, when we did the bonus album consideration that would have been my top pick
Ive never gotten into The Descendents but i will use this as a pointer to which of their albums i should check out
Everything Sucks 100%, near flawless 90s punk album
@@PunkRockRadar I checked out a few of their albums and so far, I like Cool to be you and Hypercaffium the most. Everything sux is a little too rough for me. Overall, great band.
Good on you guys for giving NOT a shoutout. That band is excellent and sounds dead on like ALL. Highly recommend
Breaking Things S tier for me ~ Ron

Pummel is a top tier album.
I think breaking things has better songs and energy than pummel, but I would agree pummel is a more consistent album, and breaking things has a lot of weird annoying stuff
This comment is 100% on point, totally agree
Politics is one of the worst punk songs in history. That single song makes me put the whole album in D tier
Cool

But, love them both.
Chad's vocals are awful. He just sounds like a grumpy jock.
