Ha! The laugh/cry at the very beginning of this video... says it all with Battlestar Galactica.
The final shot of the crew divided across the red line is a VFX shot. When Ron Moore saw the first version it had a much larger part of the crew on the “I’m going” side; a majority in fact. He told them to change it. “Most,” he said, “would _not_ go.”
Which, honestly, is debateable; military members, even pushed to their brink, would go on a mission to save civilians- and to punch the enemy in the nose... especially if its the last hurrah, and (let's be honest) there's not a lot waiting for you to go back to, I would be surprised if most would not go.
@@Sephiroth144 I would agree but the show made specific point of showing multiple instances of people having given up. We had a whole mutiny about it. Plus, she's half cylon, so they could be biased against helping because of that.
@@romo_lampkin That mutiny was about allowing Cylons into the fleet- this mission involves shooting them in their face... face plate... whatever. Even if you don't want to go on the mission, loyalty to The Ship and the last chance for vengeance (combined with parole for some) is a powerful incentive combo.
@@Sephiroth144 Which is why we see significant mutineers on the "going side". But the _despair_ that contributed to the mutiny is also present in others, and for many of them it results in an attitude of "leave, leave it all behind, for the love of the Gods would there stop being new DISASTERS every week" instead of the rebellion we saw among the mutineers.
Some of the cast of this show were asked to speak at the United Nations (Yes the real UN) about some of the issues in the show and how it affects society. It's well worth watching!
Can’t wait for the end one of the best shows I ever watched
The sight of Roslyn slowly walking to join the volunteers always makes me tear up
What I liked about Gaius trying to decide what to do here is it's very relatable, you may want him to join them as a viewer, but if you were in his position would you really join a mission that has an extremely high chance of dying? Not an easy choice to make, especially for a civilian who's only experience of combat was a disaster on Kobol.
Can't believe our BSG journey with you is almost over!
It has been such a ride, a complete emotional rollercoaster and these final 3 episodes ....... WOW!!! I wasn't one of those that disliked or hated the ending! It was beautifully done and IMO wrapped up all the main storylines.
Hope you enjoy through all the inevitable tears!
And can I say, having watched so many UA-cam BSG reactions, yours has by far been the most enjoyable. Your passion for these characters and the universe the story is set in, your honesty and you have been so articulate! It's been a pleasure to watch your reactions to what is easily one of my TOP 4 tv series of all time
I mentioned this earlier to someone else, but the flashback scene with Guias and his father, Julius Baltar, really tells a great deal about Baltar's backstory and who he is.
So we found out he wasn't lying about changing his accent and being from Arelon. In many ways, Julius is telling it like it is. Guias is like many young people from small towns or rural places who yearn to be more than just a farmer or laborer and goes off to the big city (in this case the more "culturally diverse" planet -- Caprica) and becomes successful through learning and his natural gifts.
Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but there is when you choose to pretend that you're better than the people you come from -- think Reese Witherspoon in "Sweet Home Alabama".
His father reminds him of that life and, even though he resents that and is frustrated when his father tells him so, Guias still chooses to look after his dad and give him the best that he can with his success, and that speaks a great deal about his character. However, Julius probably resents being brought to Caprica in spite of the fact his son is successful and he has nothing to want for.
Remember that he was a farmer, probably spent his life working with his hands growing things. A hard life, but a rewarding one for him. Now he's just wasting away in an alien environment (thing someone living their whole life on some north Georgia farm and suddenly living in the middle of Los Angeles or NYC) and the stuff he says to his son, lashing out, is his way of expressing that unhappiness.
I absolutely love the channel. You're reactions are the most genuine I've ever seen
I watched this series when it first came out. Rewatched it after the show ended and I bought the dvds. Then i lost my wife to cancer in sept 22. Ive watched this entire series 4 more times in the last year. It is the only place on tv where the characters grieve with me. I've enjoyed your journey. Thank you.
I’m so sorry for your loss Patrick. I’m glad I could be there, in a way, for you.
If you've never seen Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, that would be a great show to do! Ron Moore was a writer, and you can see the influences from DS9 that made their way into BSG.
Some of the best DS9 episodes of all time were written by him.
Makes sense, both shows have a Torturing the Chief fetish
Gaius with his father is just heartbreaking. This show really kicks you in the gut sometimes.
I wasn't a big fan of the elder abuse when Guias was yelling and hitting at him, but I can relate to the Elder Baltar here.
His son has more or less rewritten his whole identity, rejected his roots and upbringing, and pretends he's better than the people he comes from. Its an old story, but told very well.
Still, it does say something good about Guias as a character that he does keep his father and look after him in spite of that. All the same, you can tell his father acts the way he does because he's not happy living in a home on a planet completely alien to what he's known his whole life. He was a farmer and probably used to staying active. Here he's just an old man wasting away, which is why he's causing trouble and being belligerent.
The scene at the end, when he breaks a little talking about farming. Having come full circle. It’s his best moment in the entire series.
@@THXbox Yeah, in that moment you see the final chapter of the story of the rise, fall, trials, and ultimate redemption of Guias Baltar. It was beautifully done.
@@darthrodenValid points, but I can’t help but think that the old man was always a SOB.
“He’s the little doopadoopdoo guy from Quantum Leap.” I can’t unhear that, LOL.
😂
Been mentioned before, but the irony is that Cavil did to the Centurions exactly what they rebelled against the humans for.
The scene w Adam’s & Hot Dog was a special tribute to have real life Father & Son together in one small scene. In case you didn’t know. 😊
Adam's 🍎 and Captain Adama walk into a bar...
I first watched this show when it originally aired. I was in my late teens/early 20s. Started watching it with friends at university, but came home and watched the rest with my parents, both Sci Fi fans. My mum in particular enjoyed it with me until the very end.
In the years since I've lost both parents to cancer, so the Roslin scenes hit differently having seen the late stages for myself. It's been nice to revisit the show, and to remember how different my own life was back then when I first watched this great show. Thanks funnylilgal.
Nice writing
I've thoroughly enjoyed this journey with you and Galactica!
That said, now that I've seen a DRD from Moya, I can't frelling wait for the magnificent weirdness that's coming!!
Best cure for a broken heart is falling in love all over again. ✌️
Omg when you said “future character in a show you’re watching after this one” and pointed to the DRD plushie… I screamed Yeeesss! I’m so excited!!!
I need a Moya
Same here - I saw that and I'm not gonna lie - I squeed like a girl. 🤣
@@funnylilgalreacts Maybe a Talyn...
That's what it was! I thought it was a weird bee and had no idea what it was from 😅
Well now I'm so excited! Loving the choices Angie's made on the shows to watch next ✨
The scream I scrumpt at the DRD.
I am frelling down for this.
Those first 12 seconds were absolute gold. Thank you for keeping it in there, Xander. Chef’s kiss!
(Put that one in the highlights folder for any future mass edit or sizzle. It’s gonna be a timeless classic!)
Now ya gotta watch BSG Blood and Chrome, and The Plan.
I felt numb for a while back when I finished watching this during the original run. Maybe even depressed. But then I got to introduce it to friends. I watched it several times. And now I've watched through your superb reaction videos again. And it's been even better.
Don't worry. It's not over. It's just the induction. I forgot what a superlative masterpiece this was.
There is a moment, when Galactica makes a final jump and buckles under the strain, that my friends and I watching at the time, let out a tearful "yelp". Galactica, like all our great ships, had carried so much, so many hopes and dreams and needs, we wanted her to have the most respectful and loving farwell...
I love space shit too. I subbed to your channel the first time I heard you say that. Galactica was a loving and nurturing home, not just a "thing".
I feel bad for those who don't get that, but you do, and for that and many others you have a sub for life from me.
Farscrap NEEDS to be high on your list for upcoming. Anyone else who has seen it will doubtlessly agree.
(Drinks for you and Galactica)
The best damn ship in the fleet.
Most missed it but we went through 4 seasons, to finally get Doctor Cottle's first name, Sherman in the finale.
The question remains: where is Mr Peabody?
I am going to miss this so so much!! I was a kid when the original Battlestar came out. I watch every episode bad then as it came out and it’s still my favorite but they did such amazing job with this show. The writing and acting really couldn’t be much better. Each Friday night I would get ready and watch the new episode on Sci-fi. This has been my 5th time watching this from beginning to end but you have made this so much fun for me. My heart breaks it’s going to over so soon but what I ride. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this and seeming like you love this show as much as I do. You are the best reactor on UA-cam in my eyes. Maybe the reason you didn’t want angel in the show is because you are truly a beautiful angel yourself !! Thank you, thank you and thank you again for this amazing ride with you 💜♥️
Is that a stuffed 1812 from Farscape?
Oh boy the space fun will continue.
Best Series Finale ever. Thrilled that you are finally here, but sad knowing this is the end. Which is how I felt the first time I went through this. Great writing. Coming into the finale I never imaged coming it would open before the fall of Caprica. How could they possibly find the time? But the choice to end with the beginning is just brilliant. History is just a bundle of human stories tied together. This prologue was effortlessly produced. We are introduced to Roslyn's family and Zak and it all feels so authentic. It's as if the people on screen have known each other for ages. More than just a school teacher President. Or a Commander's son. They are human beings with a past, with histories that colored their thought processes, personalities, who they were and have become over the course of 4 seasons. Gaius' frailty revolved about his insecurity and dreams on not being a commoner. His distance towards his upbringing were the reason he never understood the meaning of love. We get to see Lee and Kara struggle with that thing that really does happen in life. Where you meet someone and something special is there, without reason, without having to work for it. Only in their case Zack was good cause to never feel comfortable about acting upon it. (successfully anyway.) This opening act, and the final act are 'wrap arounds' for the adventure, shoot em' up in the middle. Take off the ends and the finale would be less complex. Less rich. But thankfully they are here to be watched again and again.
Great run. And to think I came into yet another The Expanse reaction wondering "Who or what is a Funnylilgal?" Now I've watched two of my favorite shows with you back to back. And if the next series is what I think it is.... 3?!?!?!?! We get to do this not just for my top two, but my top three?!? I am all in. This has been a delight. Just a delight. Even if you never did change your mind about Leoben...
I hope you enjoyed the show, I can't watch the last 2 episodes again, and I can't cry again ..... much love ❤
I remember watching this series when it released on sci-fi. I was hooked and couldn't wait for the next episode. One of the best series to date.
I know I've said this before, but I strongly recommend Babylon 5 for a reaction series. It was the first of the Serials. Before Expanse, or BSG, it perfected the 'Arc'.
I love space shit, but didn't enjoy watching B5
@@davidmartin4795yeah. I didn’t like it either.
I agree, strongly recommend Babylon 5, particularly with respect to the specific character arcs and how everything fits together beautifully.
Babylon 5 is one of my favorite shows. The problem I think a lot of sci-fi fans have with it is that religion plays a major role in the story like it does in this show.
Definitely I'm all on board would love that too.... she needs to watch the GOAT
I just want to let you know how much I've been enjoying your reactions. Keep up the great work.
I want to recommend the Podcast Battlestar Galacticast hosted by Tricia and Marc Bernardin, from Tricia’s living room, to everyone. They have on members of the cast, who have all remained close, and often there’s wine involved lol! Lots of interesting stuff, but more importantly you get to see just what great people they are and the family they have become (Eddy’s a godfather many times over).
Bear McCreary absolutely knocked it out of the PARK with this 3-part finale. I think it's some of the best work of his career (but I might be biased because I love this show).
this is the first time I have felt genuinely gutted that I missed the premiere of a UA-cam video
I literally watched this show on a loop as it was airing and after until I was sick of it. Your series rekindled that love and I feel I have vicariously experienced it again for the first time through you. yeah, thanks n stuff
I'm so sorry and I feel your pain. None of us deserve to lose family.
So glad you were able to get the extended version!!
Thank you for releasing the entire trilogy over the weekend. I was worried we'd have to wait a week and a half to see the rest.
I’ve watched your full reaction to the final episode on patreon, and I’ve rewatched parts of it maybe ten times or more now. You probably know the parts.
Whatever faults this show has, this is one of the greatest TV finales ever made, and I love that you fully appreciated it. You reacted to it the way I did the first time, and I get to relive that experience now.
Thank you for watching this show with us.
It was an honor watching BSG with you!
None of us are truly ready to say goodbye to the BSG adventure. The Character development for this series have been so well done that it would leave all us with memorable characters 👏 the good the bad and especially the heartbreaking ones. These final episodes are going to be hard 😪 sending virtual hugs Angela we will all get through this together.
The "red line" is the absolute best scene ever.
Boomer was left with three bad options: the humans hand her to the cylons to be killed, the humans keep her in prison forever, she followsCavil's plan and goes "home".
I love the backstory stuff with the main cast.
The line is one of my favorite scenes in the show, especially where Baltar is concerned. He wants to do the right thing. You can see him start to step toward the line, but keep hesitating. His selfishness is fighting a war with his wish to be a good man.
I'm glad to see Angela is expediting her reactions to the final episodes of BSG. 👍😊 It's going to be so sweet to see her reaction to the last scene. 🤗
Can you believe we’re here? *raises glass* so say we all, Angela! ❤️🚀❤️
This has been such a pleasure going back and watching what I feel to be the best Sci-Fi series ever...with you!
Oh wow, you're so close!
It's not gonna be alright Karl.
Me: CarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrLLLLLLLLLL. (Llamas with hats - UA-cam.)
lmao I'm so sorry. It's basically part of the essential youtube package, a must watch (or react) series of insanity, mild gore, laughter, heartbreak, and the ravings of a llama gone mad. You can also add Charlie the Unicorn to the queue as well.
Babylon 5 is an absolute win for you if you love series like this!
15:24
Even though the subtitles say, "I need this like a fracking hole in the head." "Fucking" was actually said, and it was not caught until the episode aired.
I love all the crying! What a goober! I get emotional about scifi ships too, LOL!
I want to give you the biggest hug right now.
Time to watch Caprica now
Almost there. Watched this 3 times with 3 different people. You are the 4th. Show of a lifetime.
I wanted to thank you for reacting to the end for this tv show 🥰,
I know that it is not with Battlestar galactica that you get the most views on UA-cam (3x more views with Kora or one piece)
BSG is amazing and it was awesome watching you react to this one.
I'm looking forward to the last 2 episodes which will be very moving.
Turns out Dubai wasn't flooded by rain. It was all Angela's tears. :(
OMG watching you in tears through this one, I just wanted to give you a hug. Great, honest reaction once again.
Appreciate the warning about spoilers for people watching along with your reactions Angela. So many self-centered people following reactions seem to be under the impression the only person in the universe who could've not seen the show is the reacter themselves. (And of course others just don't care at all.) Obviously you don't need to guard about spoilers for a 20 year old show in general, but what's the ONE PLACE on the internet you're MOST LIKELY to find first time watchers? Probably a reaction series for a first time watcher of that show! It's hardly much to ask in the first place.
Gives me goose bumps every time I see it. But would you plz stop crying your making me cry too. 😪❤
Even if you don't do it for content, Caprica is worth a watch, imo. I really liked it, and I bet you would. Also, there might be a new BSG series in a couple years, and it's supposed to take place in this same universe. Sam Esmail (of Mr Robot fame) is producing it, apparently with Ronald Moore's blessing.
Well next you should watch "Person of Interest" or "Fringe". You will love it!
I love Fringe! I wish i could see it for the first time again
"I'm sure that in the comments everyone will be giving me those answers"
Nope. Some things were never made clear.
Glad to be here for the end. Not on Patreon but bought a t-shirt. Can't wait for the next adventure!
Awesome, thank you!
Thats tomorrow? She doesnt upload BSG on fridays usually. Wonder if Part 2 and 3 will be release on Sat/Sun or will they be left for next week.
Yup 4/20 is 4x20 and 4/21 will be 4x21
@@funnylilgalreacts Thank you Angela. The tension is unbearable. :)
@@funnylilgalreactsgod’s plan 🤖😂
Im gonna wait for part 2 before I watch it.
Was a long journey, but here we are.
- I wonder what Patreon polls bring out after this. If its a real life show or movie: Orwell, Babylon 5 for more sci fi? Animated sci fi: Lower Decks, Scavengers reign? Memories (1995), Cowboy bebop? Anything animated: Helluvaboss or Hazbin? Castlevania., anything from studio Leika (Coraline etc)?.. so many more. If you want something more fantasy how about the dark crystal age of resistance + the old movie? Its a puppet show, but man is it well done and unique (and not long)
Scavengers Reign, Fallout, the animated Cowboy Bebop, The Man in the High Castle
Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star would be great if she's into anime sci-fi adventures. I know she loved Firefly and both of those are right up the same alley.
@@darthroden Its been years since I watched OLS, cant say I remember it well or even as good. ^^°
I wish I could say Trigun, but she would just be better of reading the manga instead.Totally worth it by the way.
@@darthroden Sci Fi but not space: Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
Yeah... I lost it when Doc Cottle tried to join. 😭😭😭
That little girl who plays Hera is such a good actress!
Cant wait. Wish I still had the money to be a patron.
And the harbinger of death will comfort and guide a dying leader to humanities end.
Angela: regarding your comment in the chat about finding Ronald D. Moore to ask him to write another episode... well, believe it or not, there's an episode of Portlandia called "One Moore Episode" that does exactly just that. No spoilers, but you really need to watch it now that you've finished watching Battlestar Galactica! It's absolutely hilarious! Do it... you'll thank me later!
Here's the link to watch the episode: ua-cam.com/video/WfBCiktl7HE/v-deo.html
I remember laugh-crying through that whole bit
Ohhh Angie please react to that vid, a must for BSG fans
8:02
@@funnylilgalreacts Haha... ok, you beat me to it. And here I've been holding out sharing this until you finished the series, lol. By the way, Eddie's line, "I've never been in space... ever." is comedy gold! Such a great bit!
She said she saw it "yesterday", the only question is, is she watching doctor who from the very beginning with 1st doctor, or doctor who 2005 season 1.
Oh yeah. By the end of this show, there is nothing but rage and disgust for Cavil. Dean Stockwell does a superb job at portraying the sinister nature of that character.
I waited for the other episode to drop so I can the three video back to back
I'm going to miss these Galactica reactions.
If you can maybe take a look at the Orville.
Ok I just finished the Portlandia sketch. That was great.
I'm so glad she's finally watched the whole thing and encouraged others to do so! I've been hoping for a reaction to it since season 1 but it's fair to leave it as a bonus or something I guess :) The funny thing about waiting to watch the end is the episode has NOTHING to do with the real finale, and the only spoiler is telling someone it actually doesn't really make sense once they've seen the finale haha.
Glad that FLG is going to start Doctor Who. (That is the show James Callis suggests to everyone, right?)
Is that one of the maintenance robots from farscape in the background?
DRD indeed
Awesome! I think you're gonna dig Farscape. Looking forward to those reactions.
Let's all collectively die inside before we begin. 😂
I love your channel and I love space sh*t too!
15:23 I don't think Gaius says "Frakking" in this line. LOL
Actually, I do believe he did in fact drop and F-bomb there.
Is that a Farscape DRD next to Eddie?
Anyway, by now you will likely have finished all three parts, so I have to ask, have you found out what the deal is with Starbuk, yet? The clues are all there, all the comics really do is show you how they fit together.
When you started this series, did you ever imagine crying this much for a dying space ship? XD
16:27 I'm so sorry for you... in a kind way... It must hit hard.
I have that same plushie!
Thanks Angela
Now look what you've done girl, you made me reach for the Kleenex again.
(And I'll need more in the last two episodes!)
BTW: I think you'll love Moya too!
I'm hoping you watch Mr. Robot at some point. That and BSG are my 2 favorite shows. And Farscape will be good!
I've been enjoying all your BSG reactions but I haven't read a lot of the comments. So please forgive me if you've been asked this a million times already but -
will you be reacting to the prequel spin-off "Caprica"? 'Cuz that would be super cool if you did. Well at least to me anyway, like that matters, right? But surely I'm not the only one who feels this way. Are you not curious about it yourself? It may not be as awesome as this show but it's still pretty interesting
Expect the water works to flow for they will be flowing...
At the battle of the colony remember the scene of Here pushing the model of Galactica into a Basestar on the tactical map and compare that to what you see!
There is a reason you haven't seen Adimiral Adama speak with Hot Dog before, he is played by Bodie Olmos, Edward James Olmos' real life son.
That’s why I said “son”
@@funnylilgalreacts Sorry, I missed that. Looking forward to your reactions to Galactica's final battle. :)
Babylon 5 may be dated but it's still a must watch in my opinion, much slower burn with a lot of stuff not paying off until season 3 or 4 and it does have some off episodes but it's overall one of the greats
14:49 right
The problem with "don't give ME a voice, give my PEOPLE a voice" is when the people a tendency to cling obsessively to every whim of dear leader, their special privileges really ARE the leader's special privileges. If they are to be represented by ships, then let it be by ships. If it's apportionment it by population, then do that. But don't say "its by ships" and then give **cue slightly hysterical Lee voice from last episode** Gaius Baltar??'s special interest group a own special representative anyway! There must be scores of little subcommunities across the fleet who would love to have their own vote on the council despite the system that's been decided on. Racing to see who can be the most silver tongued in Lee's ear is not a basis for a system of government.
Daybreak? Should called it Heartbreak, amirite?
3... 2... 1... HIT IT
Please do Fringe!!
already seen it
We are waiting for the last case, the last battle of the Galactica, and I think that such an end for an old girl is quite more exciting than just waiting for her to die alone in space.
All paths have led us to this moment: the moment of truth for everyone.
It was an honor for me that you funnylilgalreacts were part of this Colonial Fleet and on this journey. See you at the end and may the Gods of Kobol protect you, because the end will be very epic.
P.S. After Battlestar Galactica, I can personally offer a choice: Stargate, the series from Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Babylon 5. These are also good connections.
uh wanst expecting the new episode...a surprise sure but a welcome one
In this BSG universe everyone is flawed, the gods, god, angels. So why not Star Buck?
Any plans to watch the original BSG 1978 tv series? Its quite different. Might be fun to compare.
Yay. It wouldn't let me watch this when I tried from patreon
The G-Drive links are up now instead of YT!
You'll love the ending...No doubt
Will she?
I weep like a baby for 30 minutes after the ending every time I rewatch the series
