every vehicle in ARMA is based off a real world counterpart. They just don't want to be sued by arms companies which is why they give them a different name and a paint job.
I know. I don't have any problems with they basing their tanks in real life ones. I was joking about the name similarity between the in game and real tank.

T-140 Angara, the most ridiculously powerful tank of all tanks in Arma 3. I remember when my squads were having a joint ops milsim with several other squads from different countries and we faced several Angara K's. Hell, those tank scares the shit out of us until now because of it's very thick armor and terrifying weapons. It took 4 TITAN AT missiles to kill just one of them. Me and 2 other guys inside a Slammer UP tank (Merkava IV LIC) managed to kill them one by one, despite the casualties our infantry squads had. Good times.....

@OS Arktis I understand your point of view, but arma 2 was a very rushed release and not finished. Back then it was in competition with Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising, as a result a lot of patchwork needed to be done. Alpha and Beta releases were (luckily) not a thing yet in 2009.

Yeah the gun has a similar autoloader to the Stryker MGS, so it wouldn't surprise me if that was heavy inspiration, they're pretty similar platforms.
The Cheshire Cat Yup :) Although my biggest hope with this update is it fixes the micro stutter I'm having. even after upgrading my cpu its STILL doing it and I know its the game.
Thats strange. Can't say I have the same issue. the only thing I could try and figure out is that you may have your view distance settings too high so its trying to load the parts of the map within your view distance, but if you have it below 3km that shouldn't happen.
I dunno, the whole "Sheep Herding" feature seems really overpowered. By adding sheep herding into the game, you give players acting as civilians or non-combatants a feature which can significantly overwhelm the opposing armor. No one will run over a sheep; they're just too kind. Therefore, your vehicle auto-stop capability (as showcased in the trailer) is understandable. But the sheep herding is just another tool to make ambushes and too overpowered. And *this* is the last thing until Arma 4. Discusting

Confused me though. The launcher doesn’t kill in one hit. Especially on that tank. Took 5 to 6 when I tested it in a complete cluster of what I call my missions

Probably just took two takes, one of an FIA guy firing at a full-health tank, then reset and put the tank to basically 1HP and fired for the wide shot to get the nice explosion.
It's all about where you hit on the tank.
@@omLDN In Arma? Is it? Like I know it's like that IRL and supposed to be so in, say, War Thunder, since that game clearly indicates how it's trying to be realistic. Arma 3 of course won't have a hit screen like that though, but the weird thing is, all that seems true about Arma vehicles is how they all sorta have a big hidden HP bar. Even if the system is semi-modular, like how engines can be disabled, fuel tanks ruptured or tyres popped, at the very least there's a lot of room for improvement if they wanted to make it realistic, which isn't false for, say, War Thunder either, but it's seemingly somewhat closer to realism than Arma, which is a little bit funny. Not that I don't prefer Arma over WT for a couple reasons, but the damage physics of WT are seemingly better, and certainly better shown visually.
Ultimately, all this comment led me to is the urge to start Arma, fire up the editor and just shoot vehicles in various places. I really wanna know how it works, it's a huge advantage if you know an easier way to destroy a tank than the enemy.
Fantastic dev that has supported Arma III since 2013. Talk about dedication and value for money! Roll on Arma IV!!! (In about 2 years lol)
I'm sure ready for A4. Maybe the next game will support things like rivers flowing down mountains and actually have everything animated! (I can dream!)
More like double or triple that time. Which is probably for the best, seeing as if they are going to make Arma 4 at all, it needs to be on a completely new engine and not this dated, unoptimized one....and good engines take a while to develop.

Actually I know of some more unoptimized games than this and tbh I have no issues even in multiplyer. a good CPU is key.
Though I agree it could be better optimized, examining what this game brings to the table in terms of gameplay
and the amount of support it gets, STILL after all these years! is something to admire in the sea of garbage PC games out there now a days
30 fps is fine for arma
There are a lot of factors counting in on that, the key being amount of scripts running. I get 60+ fps in ARMA when playing with my community with everything except post process set to high and a draw distance of 3000 meters. In public games though, the story is very different.
The game could be optimized better, I agree. But a shitload of the popular game modes, such as KoH, Wasteland and ARMA life are so horribly optimized it's laughable, and that is the fault of the game mode authors, not BIS. They rely too much on unoptimized scripts, killing framerate.
i can get 70+ fps with my unit running mods like RHS ACRE and AGM and most we make ourselves with a I5 6500 and 1060

It's the last DLC made inhouse for ArmA III, yes, but more official tweaks and updates will still be maintaining the game for quite a while (probably until Arm4's release). If there are going to be any more bits of paid DLC, they'll be made externally by third-parties endorsed / supported by BI.

The biggest FPS hog is the PiP feature. Just like with any vehicle interior, the mirrors and camera displays can have a significant impact on performance. But you could always turn that off and rely on other ways of seeing.
Btw, "if you have a bunch of tanks lined up and you turn your view towards them, your frame rate drops by by a 1/6 (from 60 fps to 50-52 fps), just because this horrific engine renders ALL vehicle interiors even though you not actually in them."
That is false. Just go into the editor, spawn a bunch of tanks with AI in them, then press ESC and switch to the free moving camera, then move the camera inside of the tank. You'll see the AI, but you won't see any interior.
The angara is the new t-14. Huh.

I'm looking forward to Arma 4 but Arma 3 has a good 1.5 years left at least.

After what we already got, and ahead of the few DLCs, I think the entire community has wanted a major naval overhaul. Not particularly viable for A3, where the engine is REALLY not made for it, but A4 would be a great time to really overhaul the engine and make it more naval-friendly.

i know you guys want to make money out of DLC´s but you forget that arma 3 still doesnt feel finished and there are many bugs need to be fixed.
they're done with A3 now. This was their last DLC. The team is moving on to ArmA 4 and DayZ standalone now.

Yes the game suffers from bad optimization but your rig is shit and not to mention you probably only have 8 gigs of ram.
And if you are talking about multiplayer, that automatically reduces fps according to latency to improve your connection.
Look here when I got the tank DLC I thought "Nice, probably a new MBT for each faction" but this is better and at the same time worse. The T140 is the only real TANK here but the Rhino and the Nyx are really special vehicles so I guess I'll let you off the hook bohemia.

My only request Bohemia. You listened to the people who get banned a lot in official games. They said for you to get rid of the debug console and so we can’t police the game anymore and kick trollers. You made our lives of policing stuff like trolls and all that harder. We need the debug console back.

People love to say dice makes great trailers, which they do but BiS should be given more credit. Their trailers really capture the battlefield/warzone tone, atleast to me and my limited knowledge of war.
The music between 1:36 and 1:44 is soo fucking good, it really blends with the scene and the danger of that incoming missile.

It is come a new "drive assistant" feature with the ArmA 3 Tanks DLC? I mean a feature where i can control the driver and gunner seat at same time without a.i. or multiplayer partner.
Have see this feature only at two Wasteland Server (TRC 1000000 Altis/TRC 1000000 Tanoa). Not in Singleplayer, Editor, Virtual Arsenal or any King of the Hill Server.
Cant accept it that this feature is only a multiplayer mod and no feature for the main game. This feature make it possible to play alone with a tank in multiplayer without a friend or a bad random guy. Dont say me that i have a option to play alone with a tank with drive, then stop, change seat and shoot. This way is realy shitty and costs to much time in a dangerous combat situation where i have only a few seconds to aim, set distance, take right ammo and shoot.
Please implement this drive assistant feature for the main game to have fun if we playing lone without a friend.

sad thing is the Vanguard game mode is always empty, and actually this is problem with ARMA, their community/player are spread to their own unit/group/communities and play on mods or on custom/private server with their own scenario so the official game itself is lacking player. it makes the game not so easy for beginner, they somehow have no idea how to play, just jump into the game, hope for awesome gameplay when they look up the multiplayer and found it is lack of people, or maybe they just join random server and have no idea about the rules, how to play, etc because the game is have no consistency on the gameplay. they might don't know about mods, joining unit, regiment, etc. worst case is they might have negative opinion to ARMA like this game need many other stuff to install to become awesome, not all people think easiness of mods/customing the game is a good point for me it just make things more complicated that 'why these stuff just not available in the original games'. and i think ARMA is hard to attract new audience, majority of arma player are already an arma fan before, its like DOTA of the FPS world. i hope Bohemia could learn from Rockstar with their Grand Theft Auto series, allowing other people to modified their game but also not dependent on it.

At the same time ruined the game mechaincs of other vehicals such as Hatchback and the weird camera angle making it look like i am playing some racing game.Please fix it to what it originally was.The sound of ingame vehicals have also been changed from its old ones.Truck Box sounds like a Hemit Transport and Hatchback sports drives like a car on ice
The only somewhat realistic tank combat in Arma was with Arma2 + ACE, this hit points garbage which always results in explosion is getting old.

So csat gets the best tank in the game and nato gets a tank destroyer with an extremely basic gun and good mobility unless you run into a bush. They should’ve put a rail gun on the tank destroyer. That would’ve been cool because then it would have an actual tank destroyer not a light tank or ifv. Also before anyone says its a free dlc. I already payed 60 for the game and fuck know how much for all the other dlc. It better be free
