The funny thing is, this is not even half as dense as the REAL JUNGLE. Speaking as a former soldier from Singapore where even our training areas where the jungle had been kindda over used thus less dense, its still more the twice as dense as you see in this game. In actual natural jungle, you literally cant see beyond a few meters as there will be vegetation literally everywhere. Epic video regardless!
Singapore has jungles? Where? As an Indonesian myself though you're absolutely correct. It's not just your sight that is blocked but also sound and smell. The way the sound of the jungle surrounds you the moment you enter the treeline is something you'll never get used to. The soldier who grew up in a jungle enviorment and has his senses tuned to it will always have a major advantage over a soldier who has never been in one.
Its not just visual range either, other major topic of jungle warfare is mobility. Alot of it is so thick that you cant even get through, or you can try and get cut to ribbons by barbed-wire like wines or even worce, you get stuck in an ''awkward'' position which may lead you becoming a casulty! Then theres heat, humidity and countless toxic/venomous plants/critters to worry about! Its hard to even imagine how terrible of an experience it can be. Would you prefer to fight in -30C temperature or literally get eaten by humid and hot jungle... take your pick i guess!
The first time I played in a Vietnam milsim PVP event was one of the most adrenaline-pumping gaming experiences I've ever had. No other shooter comes even close to ARMA3. People talk about the supposed jankiness of the controls or the 'bad' graphics, but once you hear the sonic crack of the bullets going by your head, you ARE in that jungle.
If anything, the jungles in game are too sparse, and too easy to run around in. If you’ve ever hiked the jungles in south east asia, you’d know that once you get off the trails in the deep jungle, you need a machete to carve your way through. And if you start charging around through the bushes and undergrowth, it’s a guaranteed way to get an infected wound through spikes and barbs, maybe a sprained ankle or two from the tree roots and terrain. So you’re talking about slow, methodical, movement through a steaming hot jungle while getting bitten to pieces by a variety of insects as you look out for mines, booby traps, and ambushes. You’ll hardly ever see the actual enemy, more often shooting in the direction of gunfire if you’re ambushed.
I think it's sparse because of the game engine. Like, even at what it's presented in the video the engine might be stretched to its maximum or they made the map like that so it doesn't make nukes out of people's PCs. It's a game after all and Arma 3 is known for its veeeeeeeeeeeeery poor optimization
@@vali.s5109 Even if the engine could do that, people would cry about how slow the game is, if you couldn't run around. Thats why they make it like that.
