They admit openly that they are mimicking European style classic metal, nwobhm, & powermetal, hence choosing to sing all in English and debuting in London then touring Europe a second time in their first year (tho they were conceived and met in 2016, they only just had their third live anniversary!, this show they’d been playing shows together less than 1year) Favorites they’ve mentioned: Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Angra, Helloween, Halestorm (named after Halestorm’s song Love Bites, not Priest’s nor Def Leppard’s etc), also mentioning Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Gojira, Intervals, Gary Moore(thin Lizzy), Bullet for my Valentine, Yngwie, Paul Gilbert, an Italian death metal solo artist (I forget), and more... no doubt they mimic people, it’s all been done, it’s how you piece together something new. I’ve heard BabyMetal guitar parts, and obv Kirk Hammett, Gary Moore, yngwie parts, one that sounds like Steve lukather on Michael Jackson songs, Thunder Vengeance was inspired by SLAYER, the mastering is all done by the nightwish team, their song The Crusade seems tribute to Maiden’s Aces High until you realize it’s much more complex, then we get to the piano, admittedly straight lifted from Chopin, and two songs (on this same EP) were explicitly a songwriting challenge to use aspecific Rachmaninov theme (both songs ended up chosen for the 4song release). In fact, that’s my recommendation: Symphonic prog song Under the Red Sky is self referential as well, besides from Rach., it reuses their own middleeastern musical theme from their Hammer of Wrath, and is a lyrical sequel to their Apocalypse about being nuclear bombed... turn on subtitles, and notice the emotional jerks... ua-cam.com/video/KChT0QfuhKE/v-deo.html (it’s the closer. you cN stop around 6min20s)
That's a great comment T.G. It's obvious to see where they get some of their influences, e.g " The Crusade" based on Iron Maidens "Aces High" being a personal fave. But they add their own classical flavour to arrangements that raises them above a lot of other bands from the same genre. P.S. I'm glad you wrote all those words, so I didn't have to. Kudos :)
Hey Tim, I share your passion for them. And people who don't understand that everyone builds on prior influences. Newton said "If I have seen further it is because I stood on the shoulders of giants." Lovebites have taken all those influences and refined them into something incandescent. I cite the Aces High vs. Crusade comparison all the time--play them back to back and the Crusade is much more advanced--as it should be! It's like six-shooters vs. phasers.
Very well put. Take a bow.👍 Under The Red Sky is my new favourite song from them , right after Thunder Vengeance , M.D.O and the apocalypse. (Which its intro was obviously inspired by Angel of Death. )
I was also annoyed about the 19k, even 190k are not enough. I say they can do it, it's also up to us and the reactors, at some point the big headlights come on and then they get what they deserve. a lot of musicians know them pretty well, they know what's coming (stand in the back, and take a deep breath 😃)
These girls are so humble. They always give credit to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Priest etc., but honestly, they have now surpassed all those bands in sheer virtuosity. Just play Maiden's "Aces High" back to back with Lovebites' "The Crusade" and you realize, it's like comparing six-shooters to phasers. The future has arrived.
Great reaction bro, I will recommended you epic power metal song called "Holy War" by Lovebites, but it looks like the video is takedown, there are still other alternatives songs like "Swan Songs" or "We the united". Check Out..
Hey nice reaction like always they are amazing. Every song which they wrote is unmegerable and epic stuff. They have all my respect you can see when they perform how much every song means to them. This is frickin unbelievable. I'd love to see hopefully soon your reaction on one specific song from electric pentagram album . I'm really curious. If you want to hear speed from different univers please check the song Set the world on fire .keep the same passion in your reactions i like them very much. Till then stay safe and stay metal.
somehow you don't want to believe it, but they really play in the top league! Looking for a bad song from them, is there any playing technique that is not up to the task, and there is nothing re-enacted but interpreted by yourself, can they play live? I would say yes, many can not even keep up in the beginning, the level of awareness has also risen sharply, many just do not know that there is a new sheriff in the city 😃😌👍 great reaction!
Try to catch them in the smaller venues they play atm before they EXPLODE to large arenas! Haruna's kicks break your ribs. Being stood 6 feet away from her kit didn't help though 😂🥁💥
I agree, they can perform with all the big bands and most likely outperform them in the process :) Toss in Band-Maid, Mary's Blood/Nemophila and Aldious and most would be: who are the other "big" bands? You have to watch Signs of Deliverance. If you can find the live version from Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020 and see them get on the catwalk then do something I have never seen before ... dual in-sync or in harmony, however you want to call it, guitars ... doing over hand tapping. Nuff said.
@@tiaopiak yeah.. I mean, Lovebites has fewer videos on their channel compared to other bands. Holy War and When Destinies Align(live) are epic power metal that are worth watching all over the world, their company needs to boost worldwide recognition..
This was the first song i ever heard from lovebites, immediately got hooked! Miyako has said Metallica was one of the big influences on her when she picked up the guitar. Ill suggest the same as Tim Gove did, Under the Red Sky - ua-cam.com/video/KChT0QfuhKE/v-deo.html I really wish they released an MV or live video for Raise Some Hell that song is one of my favorites from Electric Pentagram!
... and their latest version on "Five Of A kind" is even better! Here, Miyako had some problems with her unison bends (during the chorus) because of the Floyd Rose vibrato of her Dean. So for Five Of A Kind she's using her Les Paul - no vibrato, so her bends sounds perfectly in tune.
PageMonster I agree. It may be intentionally to delay getting the bend in tune. But in this version a few times she didn’t make it all the way. Bridear’s Scream has the same dissonance effect from the same technique, surely many others in metal, I like the tension of “waaaait for it” before being resolved
@@timgove5337 No, it was definitly not intentional and it's a well-known issue with floyd rose and unison bends (when you bend a string, the others strings move too because of the vibrato, so unison bends are out of tune). As I said before, that's why she started using a fixed bridge guitar (her Les Paul) specifically for that song and on Five Of A kind, you have both the tension AND an in tune resolution 🤘.
Yes, I agree. All of Lovebites thrash metal songs souds much more like early Testament than any of the big four. Even some of the vocal lines in this song is taken directly from a song from Testament's first album (the song is Curse Of The Legions Of Death).
"We are Lovebites and we play heavy metal!!"
Saw a Lovebites reaction uploaded 12 seconds ago, I had to click.
I just wish Gary was still here to see Miyako play. He would have loved her playing. 😢
Totally agree with you

It’s an absolute travesty that Lovebites only has 19k subs on UA-cam.

Lovebites "Swan Song" LIVE
The big five ? It sounds crazy: But I sign it.

@Aratha Sena funny but true
Great reaction. You should check out the other thrash songs. There are live versions of "The Hammer of Wrath" and "M.D.O." .
Gotta do Signs of deliverance from them. MIND BLOWN!!!
High on my list to see LIVE one day. Will need asoerine or many beers afterwards!

LOVEBITES RULES!!!
Feeling a bit of a Testament vibe thrown in there too man.. we love these ladies!
Battery is what it reminded me of

Also a nod to Deep Purple I believe (Hammond organ). Listen to Highway Star by Deep Purple.

Next Lovebites - Holy War

Doc Loco ya. But I like it, when I play it on a hard bridge, I’m gonna get in tune only at the very end on purpose😉
Swan song next🤘🤘
You haven't tried Wagaki Band yet did you? If not i recommend you Homura + Akatsuki no Ito or Chie no Kajitsu + Somosan Seppa, that band is crazy good
wrong live version you need the version where miyako plays the les paul
👏👏👏👏👏
