This is delightful... I love how even Lian's mixing palette leaves an image of a fish on it ( not intentional ) after mixing his color ;)

When you dual-load the brush, are you using any floating medium to help separate the colours or are you allowing them to blend on the brush?
I'm guessing that you are just using water, just from the look of the fishy-purple-greys that come out... It has blended more on the brush then on the paper.
This "Chinese style" is VERY nice - very loose and vaguely defined rather than tight and detailed, and the viewer adds their own vision/interpretation to the painting.
As an aside - do you have any tips for painting greenery/vegetation - shrubs, bushes, etc, in that style (loose and open)?

Fantastic! I didn't realize we can do some Chinese watercolour techniques without Chinese brushes. Which watercolour type paper is good to use: hot press, cold press or rough watercolour paper ? And is Arches cold press good to use for this method ?

Anyone know how to get about this style as a beginner/intermediate artist? Since this style obviously require a well-developed observation skill and good techniqual control, I don't know how to practice these qualities! Technical drills are fine, it doesn't have to result in pretty pictures. Please, if you have tips or advice, share! ☺️
