$970 on Amazon. Good review. Always wondered about the Makita saws. We run all Makita gearing in my custom home business, Have for 30 years. Never gave me a reason to switch on electric or battery equipment. Keep up the good work. 👊🏼👍🏼🤙🏼
They were always made by dolmar and made in germany. They were just branded in makita guise for certain regions, since they bought the company , did you take the slr bit of the exhaust as thats pretty restrictive?, also how you strip the recoil bolt.... ive owned them for years and never stripped one of them. You must have a heavy hand😂. And unnecessary plastic? The 500i is floppy and full of plastic🤷🏻♂️. I'd like to see a stock 500i with a 32" in oak pull any better
7900 has the best ergonomics of any saw imo. I had one a few years ago with full woods port, hollow muffler and red coil. Great saw zero problems.
Couldn't agree more!
Mi hombres up in Port Townsend have a mill and would love decent White Oak like that for building boats.
Ive never heard a chainsaw sped up before but that is hilarious
Seems like it runs pretty darn good after the filter and exhaust work.
It does!

How is the vibration in the handles? To me more important than Rpm’s or power is how vibey my hands get from running one for a full day.
It’s not terrible, 90s tech
Value for money.... I bought three of em.
Me as well. A 4300 , 6100 and a 7900
I hope the ol 7.3 is still in the top heavy equipment barn............the dol-kita would look bitchin poked up over the bedrail lol
The ol 7.3 bit the dust unfortunately

Well, I have a newer 400 that I think runs like crap.
Hopefully they’ll take it.
Or Redbeard, maybe….
Buy one while you can, Makita stopped production of gas chainsaws in 2022.
