I love the fact the fact that the tones of the soloists matched so well that it sounded like one long solo
Fun fact: the guy who did the wink did it at first just for laughs. The director told him not to do it in the next show tho, so he didn’t. The crowd didn’t like that tho, so the director added it back in just in time for finals😁
I love how happy Ben gets when he hears the reaction to The Wink. Truly heartwarming.

This show changed dci forever
This show is the bridge between what some call old school drum corps and the drum corps of today. The props are meaningful and used. Hauling a bunch a garbage props on the field does not make a great show. Great job Bluecoats.

I would argue tilt was with the use of the pitch bend but yes bluecoats have definitely been leading marching bands for years.

@@FiqriHastiadiit was the first shakoless show (no hats) and encouraged less robotic movements and more dance incorporated show design (basically made DCI more like WGI) and was very interactive with the props.
@@will_Crandell6 WGI was never about DCI. It’s the music that still matters the most.
I’d suggest watching 51 years of Drum Corps starting with the 1972 Anaheim Kingsmen. Think you need to see what came before today’s DCI.
Any show that got first and is NOT a BD has to be like top 30 all time shows lolZ.
there was a sign that said wink behind the camera. He had done it a previous performance but the working camera wasn't on him so they made sure to prompt him for this show and made sure he was on the big screen.
I’ve noticed that DCI’s UA-cam channel always seems to promote and hype everyone except the Blue Devils.
Blue devils hypes themselves up enough as it is :D
@@SleepyMechanic sure, I guess. But what BD does on their own accord should be irrelevant from the standpoint of DCI. As the governing body of the activity, DCI should promote everyone equally and show no signs of favoritism or bias.

That music was incredible as was the GE. No doubt they deserved to win. But I can’t help but hold that uniform choice against them. Those outfits are the root of the complete loss of identity of corps as uniforms and headgear have disappeared.

@@isaiahburton1751 it did fit the show - and 2016 fit as well - but I just prefer regular unis that tell you what corps they are. Since the advent of these costumes, if I hadn’t been watching up to that poly of the season you’d have a hard time identifying what corps you are seeing in the lot if for shirts worn by staff members working with them. I miss when each corps had an identity that told you instantly: “cavies, cadets, Devs, etc.”
2017 bloo unis were awesome imo, i really like when the corps matches the theme
@@FoCoBuzz Crown uniforms are some of my favorites, they still closely resemble the OG shako'd uniforms but they have their twist for the show
I think the music is ok but the show is so so. Close your eyes and it's drum corps . Open them and it's a stage performance.
