There are weapon evolutions in the game. When you get to level 8 with a weapon and you have the correct passive buff, you can get upgrades out of chests. It makes a world of difference. Not going to tell you which combinations do what, that would be robbing you of the fun of finding them.
Like this so he can see it. Would help him a lot
I was hoping he did the garlic upgrade in that one round. It's by far my favorite. Although Bible is broken
Yes, reach weapons lvl8 and then grab a chest to evolve them, if you have the correct passive item. Also, you have to buy upgrades from the shop, spending those coins you get in game.
@@Phuqr Garlic + Bible + Axe is hilarious
@@sphaat8201 I like that but add in the magic wand and meteors. on skelly boy with maximum projectiles. With all the upgrades/items on skelly you're looking at +6 projectiles from each weapon.
I love how RCE calls the werewolves "rat guys" 😂
The praying mantis as grass hoppers as well. I just checked Britain doesn't have them.
Those rat guys are werewolves? Haha
@@veralapsa alright now we need a video of him looking at praying mantis
@@legitgopnik8431 yea haha
@@veralapsa you're right..I didn't know that damn.
I've found it best to diversify weapons early on so you have as many attacks going out as possible before you focus on levelling up weapons. This optimizes the bonus from things like spinach and candelabra and means your attacking more often rather than waiting for one or two powerful attacks to come off cooldown. also leveled up garlic is gloriously overpowered if you take a few candelabra and spinach upgrades
I think it's not just a candelabra, it's candelabrador
I found that garlic isnt worth focussing on in the mid game, but totally worth it in the beginning. It lets you literally walk through the hoards without worry where you can gain tons of XP quickly. Spinach lvl 5 and empty tome lvl and up as well as the multiplier ring can be devasting even if you dont evolve your weapons, but by time 17:00 can be a huge disadvantage without at least two evolved weapons.
@@nunyabisnass1141 combining garlic with an evolved magic wand is one of the best defensive combos I've found. Garlic is great for damage in the early game, but in the later half of a run it's real benefit is the massive reduction to knockback resist it inflicts on enemies. And evolving it gives it life steal so that's a plus
@@corneredbadger oh, ive only gotten it to lvl 8, and thats because a boss chest when i was lvl 80 gave me three garlic. Didnt know about the life steal, but thats also why i prioritised the whip since it recovers health too at 8hp, so its a very forgiving trait when the screen lags and i cant move for a couple seconds and take a couple hits at time 25:00, the one with the purple plant hoard.
The magic wand is a great all around weapon thats good in both the beginning and end game, thats why im still using the mage to farm coins for enhancments until im comfortable enough to experiment with other characters.
Its so odd how such a simple game is so satisfying that i domt mind paying for, where many big titles only held regret. I pnly wish it could be downloaded but also understand why its not at that stage yet.
You should try to circle around the enemies instead of just running in one direction, you lose out on a lot of xp.
you dont actually lose it, just delay it which may be deadly. I noticed that if you get too far from exp crystals, they all merge into one red crystal which follows you in certain distance. Depending on how much of them merged you can just get tons of lvles after picking it up.
@@birkart6310 I will have to play more I have not notice them merging. Though I tend to book it in a direction after five minutes to clear waves. Yeah you have strong mobs but there are less of them and at least for me easier to take out. Till you get over the 15min mark then things just get bannanas.
@@EtsuMatsuya You need to go back a bit to get it, since it is always few screens away from player, or just use vacuum.
RCE: *Sees praying mantis* *calls it grasshopper.*
IKR? I was looking to see if anyone else said anything, lol. Are least he corrects himself at the end
Hes an engineer not some biologist
@@charlespanache7047 Biologists are the next profession that he is going to have beef with now after auto pets
pls no poop centered living quarters they arent like architect's!!
@Пётр Бойков Well they're certainly as durable as one.
there are weapons that evolve if you have the proper item with it.
you can also check COLLECTION to see what synergize with certain weapons.
Garlic is very strong early game and can really give you an edge against the waves of small enemies (bats/ghosts), but it falls off hard later.
Definitely look into Weapon Evolutions, they are a huge power spike post-10 minutes.
Also: you should tryand pick up more items. You tend to focus on 2-3 items at most which leaves you with less overall output than if you'd picked up more weapons.
I think the library map is a lot easier, try farming gold on that one and upgrading your skill points, then the game gets easier in general. After a few rounds you can win by reaching the 30 minute mark. Also, the evolved weapons others are mentioning can only be acquired from a chest once the base weapon is maxed at lvl 9 and you retain the matching support item.
from a chest after minute 10*
also empty tome is OP, is basically attack speed that gets even stronger for each one you get, as it reduces de delay between attacks
the easy way to show how it get stronger the more you get, is to exarate the numbers
if had 90% reduction, you would attack 10 times faster (10% of the normal attack CD), but if were to get just more 9% you would get 99%, and would attacks 100 faster than normal speed (cause 1% of CD only)
if get the metaprogreassion for attack speed + the character that gives attacks speed + empty tome, you can get to 65% CD reduction, it is 2 faster than the 40% you get with just the tomes
Get santa water early on if you can (and have a reliable damage dealer to rely on until you can upgrade it), it scales like a **mofo** with the area (candelabrador), duration (spellbinder), and cooldown (empty tome) passives-which are generally good for most weapons anyways so you should usually grab them when you can.
Me: Oh thats a cool looking mantis
RCE: G r a s s h o p p e r
if you run one direction like that you're going to blindly run into the next tier waves just circle instead get as much exp as possible and weapons with a aoe random or otherwise are op, the next tier of weapons down are the type that auto lock and travel across the map. i would consider both the knife and whip lower tier
I love this game! Biggest advice is to focus on leveling up 2 or 3 weapons to max before taking passive bonuses. Spinach is under powered until you can't level your weapons any more. The one exception is the tome that reduces cool down, which is one of the best upgrades in the game. Pass Through Enemies upgrades are also HUGE because you hit more enemies per shot
You know someone's down bad when the first thing they brought up about something is a strong verdict that it's addicting.
The rat things were werewolves. I've found that focusing on two or three weapons in the beginning will get them upgraded fast enough to keep up with the enemy scaling.
Also, don't forget to evolve your weapons. You need a max level weapon and another item, like the whip and hollow heart. You can check a guide on Steam for the item combinations.
I've been binging somebody elses series on this and I am so glad to see more of it.
You have to pair a weapon with an upgrade and get the weapon maxed to evolve it for huge damage. Garlic and Pulmanora (the regen heart), Magic Wand and Empty Tome, and Axe and Candelabrador for what you like to use in this video. Max level for a weapon is 8. Augments typically go to 5. You can expect to level 4 weapons fairly easily to max and evolve them. Get a chest after 10 minutes once you've maxed the weapon and it will evolve.
Enjoy.
Love how italian this game is, from "Gennaro" (pronunced "Jennaro") to "pummarola" (which means tomato sauce, althought the term is typical from Naples) and Lo and behold, the creator is indeed italian :D
Btw this game looks awesome and addictive, probably going to buy it :D
20:18 He finally identifies the bug and my heart asplode
I wonder if my life can handle another game with SAP level of addiction 😅 But anyways, looks cool!
“Although we could kill that grasshopper “ definitely a grasshopper can’t be a praying mantis
The content lately is definitely egg flavoured, and I'm here for it!
By egg flavoured you mean NL?
But I don't like egg... unless... chocolate egg?
Other Yters play as well. Aliens flavor? Sifd flavored etc. Let him expand who cares who played smth prior.
Which is interesting because I watched other UA-camrs play both this and auto pets before NL knew about it. Was pretty surprised he even did these to be honest.
Didn't mean anything negative by this, just excited to see content I love across channels I love. 👍
Alright, so you need the bible, and the whip, both at maximum.
Then, also have one Hollow heart, which will evolve the whip when you pick up a chest, and that thingy that makes effects last longer, which will evolve the bible.
The evolved whip lets you heal by hitting things, while the evolved bible basically turns you into a lawnmower (well, so do the higher levels of bible, especially if you have a few duplicator rings.)
The garlic can also evolve into something that I think absorbs health, when combined with the pomorola, but I find the whip better.
Whip and bible can deal with pretty much anything that gets close, just don't let them get past the bibles.
Other than those two, some good AOE things are pretty good to have, like the lightning ring, or the santa water.
You can make them better with the candlabrador (which is also needed for evolving the axe).
Candlabrador also improves your bibles, I think, so that would be worth it from that perspective too.
Besides that, if you want something to absolutely anihiliate anything that somehow gets through the bibles, evolve either the wand (with the empty tome), or the knife (with bracer), which both are basically infinite machine guns, one going to the closest enemy, and the other that goes wherever you look, for when you really want to kill someone specific.
If you decide to get the clover (to increase your chances of getting better chests), it might be good to get the cross.
And I just read there's a new evolution for the santa water, if you get tthe attractorb, so I'm gonna have to check that out.
luck is important, it make more chicken and item drop, and reduce those bat/ghost swarms, also affect chest ( to get 3/5 items)
you can upgrade your weapons if take them to lv 8 and have an specific other item (varies from weapon to weapon), and them open a chest (not 100% guaranted to be the upgrade)
Axe need candles to upgrade
fire wand needs spinach
blue wand need the red tome (empty tome)
bible needs the item that gives duration
wipe need black heart (void heart, that gives max HP)
garlic needs the red heart (pomarola)
knifes need gloves
peachon need his friend (black wing)
santa water needs attract orb
cross need clover
Hey man if you like that game try magic survival be LEME it's a lot more polished and advanced graphics wise also it's a bit more challenging but is also the same concept as this alright good luck
I got this game a while back glad to see it getting the recognition it deserves
You're killin me calling the praying mantis a grass hopper lmao
Didn't play yet but I noticed two things from a few gameplays.
1: focus on upgrading a few weapons of choice. They have evolutions that deal lots of damage to lots of enemies.
2: AoE dmg is the easiest way to deal with mobs. Things like King Bible, Santa Water and the Garlic allow you to stomp through the waves. It's a offensive defense
Garlic armour was smashing it! I recommend adding plenty of Santa water if you can. The splash damage can get really good.
The forest is deceptive. It is pretty easy until suddenly, werewolves. All the werewolves. If you don't have a solid build going before that point you *will* die. Generally I aim to have something like evolved cross, evolved king bible, or evolved axe by that point. Evolved birds would probably work too, but they are a much larger investment.
The library is a lot easier in many ways. For one the enemies are weaker for longer making subpar builds more viable.
Picking up the +1 projectile upgrade with your gold coins is a good top priority. Other good ones to focus on are the +pickup range and health regen upgrades.
This game is definitely inspired by Castlevania. All the weapons are pretty much ripped straight from the 2D side-scroller Castlevanias so it's really jarring seeing them being used from a top-down perspective. The axe is particularly funny since it essentially falls "south" indefinitely.
Fully maxed garlic is a life saver in the late game as it not only does damage to enemies, it also absorbs the health of enemies making it easier to just keep on going.
My only protip I have for you is: stack either bibles or garlic AS SOON AS YOU CAN. The rest is smooth sailing. I'm pretty sure Bible and garlic will get nerfed in the future.
Man I hope you have a great lawyer, this is the kind of game you get sued for introducing people to, it eats your time and you don't even notice.
I can see the headline now "Architect hating Engineer sued by manager of local Tesco for making him miss important meetings!
Read more on page 3"
Evolve your weapons: get a weapon to lv 8 + the correct passive item. Thought you knew that when you picked regen and garlic. Also, here's a hint for the only weapon "union" : Birds of a feather, flock together XD
but it suckssss... im glad they added it though, but they are the worst imho lol
It's a bit of a trap to think of this game in terms of fighting enemies; you need to think in terms of gathering XP, because with enough weapons and upgrades your character basically fights the enemies for you. So, for instance, one of the things you have to learn is to use cyclical movement patterns that bring you back to areas you've killed enemies in to collect the XP after the enemies that were in the way have cleared out.
Ultimately, though, your goal is to snowball to the point where you can kill enemies fast enough that you don't have to do that anymore. To do that you need to farm at a faster pace than the enemies level up, and that just takes practice and learning what weapons and items synergize.
I'm so glad you found this gem of a game. Some advice: look on steam for a guide for the weapon builds. You should try to fuse all of your weapons, because after a certain point, like 20 mins in, you can't go any further without fusions. Keep it up! garlic is OP in the eraly game too
I actually got to 30mins without a single evolved item but trust me it's not easy
You need a very specific setup where you minimize the damage you take using the clock lance and laurel for invul
Like other comments said, you have to find the combo weapons. Like wand/empty tome. Garlic/pummalora. Once the main weapon hits lv 8 you can get upgrade thru chests. Good luck!!
RCE: Santa water is good!
Also RCE: doesn’t take santa water
I always find that you play the same games that another UA-camr dangerously funny. And I like that
rce- oh no the rats
me - werewolves!
rce - rats rats rats noooo
me - dammit werewolves!!!!!!
me - oh wait he cant hear me LOL
10% increase seems good, but piercing means you're doing 2x damage.
go santa water earlier, it's not the best at the start but scales really well, also garlic looks like balls
If you max level a weapon plus have the right support item, the weapon can evolve into a super powerful form.
Off the top of my head garlic + heart, knife + glove
I think the rat-thing is a werewolf. That's definitely a praying mantis.
You can sometimes deal with the first plant circle by sticking close to the edge and hoping that a grasshopper spawns outside. It will then push through the plants, leaving you an opening almost instantly.
Try to remember which secondary allows you to upgrade each weapon, the upgrades are nuts. Also, stages seem to end at 30 minutes.
The gold upgrades make a world of difference, especially the double projectiles one.
You should have a basic strat going in like "projectiles" or "AOE" damage. Doesn't always work, but it gives you something aim for, and pick a character for, also means you can stack the passive item buffs better. It's usually better to get a new item that you want rather than upgrade what you have, then when your item bar is full all the upgrades are ones you want; and it helps keep you from getting a sub-optimal upgrade.
Achievement hunting is your friend. There is a benefit to picking up the passives early on. The Empty Book/Tome is very nice as it makes you attack faster.
RCE translations this episode:
Blobby orb things = crystals
Grasshopper = Prey mantis
Shark/rat things = Werewolves
asleep = frozen in time
I haven't played this particular game, but I have played similar ones, and I can say that the more AoE you have, typically the better. I would have went with the Candelabradors to increase the area of my attacks, and pile on the garlic, santa water, axes, and spinach. I wouldn't worry so much about augmenting your health or the health regen, since it didn't appear to do much, and the lack of increasing your damage in favor of your health won't really help in the long run.
This was actually super fun to watch! I’d love to see another one :)
Gennaro with the pummarola...Naples intensifies hahaha
Oh, you sweet summer child. You have so many hours of this game ahead of you. My wife calls it "level-up simulator"
Lighning ring is good for thinning out the large groups so you dont get as overwhelmed, and my favorite is using king bible with bracers (increases speed of projectiles) so the bibles keep enemies away
Movement speed is always recommended in games like this. Being able to move out of the way of a big swarm is much more reliable than hoping your weapons will trigger quick enough to kill them.
USED to be an engineer? Once an engineer, always an engineer.
Hmm... this is definitely reminding me of Castlevania, and it looks rather fun... I might have to give it a try... which means yet another game you've got me into. And checking into it, only 3 dollars? Yep, another game you got me to buy.
A lot of the sprites are directly from castelvania
Hey, nice video, thx for that! One remark: at one point you said there are only 8 way movement directions, that's not quite right. If you're using the analog stick on a controller, you got many more directions ov movement.
By any chance… do you watch northernlion?
Your thumbnail implies that an engineer would let the vampires take over and get to a point of over saturation that it would be unsustainable. Ensuring they'd run out of food. It's like a vampiric piper perri meme.
Which is what happened in the video! 😅
My current go too build wise as much as is possible with RNG is evolved garlic, evolved kings bible, runecaster, evolved axe.
Id like to have a run with evolved garlic, evolved santa water, evolved axe and maybe evolved birbs, it could be fun.
I still need to suck up a run or two to evolve the last few weapon unlocks 😪
Id like to see some additional game modes in this game including a sandbox mode.
Hi RCE!
You miss a lot of in depth mecanics on this game, but you're still a beginner, it's natural!
You have to know that you have a max number of item you can equip.
Weapons synergize a lot with some item :
- Knife with gauntlet
- Axe With candelabre
- Whip with hollow heart
- Cross with clever
[...]
It's worth to pick at least one level of each one you plan to take, depending of ur build because at the end you'll not be able to pick an interesting one each time.
When you reach the max lvl on an item, a chest can upgrade it to a legendary one (mostly each time), so sometime it's a good strategy to save chest for this kind of upgrade.
Bible is VERY strong as a legendary, i let you try. Another interesting one is the bird (one white, the other black) i'll not spoil you this one because it's a lot of fun to experience.
I tried to not give you all the tips ever because it's so fun to find this, and i hope my baguette english is at least good enough to be understand.
Thank's for your videos!
An IT engineer
Garlic with Bible for defense and Axe with Cross is the most busted combination in the game when you evolve them.
The game supports an on-screen joystick using your cursor just like a mobile game. It's a little dodgy but it lets you aim the knife in precise directions
i love the book with the right build it can literally last forever making you invincible
Almost left when you said it was Almost as addictive as super auto pets. Thank you so much for introducing me to that game.
Ooh, have a look at the latest update (0.8), it's got all the characters they are planning to make so there's a lot of content to make more videos!
"Lets just stand here..." famous last words
Usually when the book starts orbiting the room, you have the wrong cross
Garlic always garlic, and then running. At a certain point it is more important to run than get levels. I have gotten to lvl 33 and just over 30mins with garlic and running. Though at times the game starts to chug with all the mobs on screen. Which makes moving a real chore. Also there is a item that gives temp invincibility. So that with garlic and that and you are good. However I think long game is about upgrading the power-ups in the main screen.
Luck isn't just # of options, it also improves all drops. The better your luck, more likely you are to get the multi-chests.
The laurel gives you a shield that blocks one hit. Higher levels will block more hits or the shield will recharge faster.
After watching your video, I played the browser version. After 3 hours of playing, I created a monster that was killing everyone, I didn't even have to move. After 30 minutes of play, the game simply killed me. Spawn a boss on me that killed me in one hit.
I killed 15605 opponents and reached 76 lvl
That level up screen is absolutely atrocious. I like the game and it's style, but good lord that's a headache. Anyway, glad you're having fun with it!
The garlic is my favorite. I couldnt last more then 7 minutes until the garlic came along.
Getting garlic is quite overpowered at least early game
I feel like Architects are more familiar with Praying Mantis. ;D
You have a true talent for finding actually cool indie games, buying a third one after watching your video=D
I don't know if anybody really cares, but half of the Italianized words were actually from the Neapolitan dialect. Pummarola means Tomato Sauce. Lovely game
10:35 those flowers do very little dmg, so you can just pass through them no problem
In these kind of games I always get as many different attacks as possible then as time goes on, based on my options I pick 2 or 3 to focus on. Have beaten a number of these games like that
Garlic, bible, and santa water are the best build imho. Stand still and never die? Gladly.
How does it feel to be a peddler of addictive games?
there wasn't even a rat out there, there are *WEREWOLVES*.
you should think about the random area attack a bit too, it would help you with crowd control
@Real Civil Engineer
Dear Matt: Have you SERIOUSLY never heard of castlevania!?
When you get garlic to max level you can evolve it to have life stealing and a massive size. Garlic is my favorite. I've yet to evolve any other weapons though. They probs all rock
Maybe make your character quicker with the wing upgrade? I don’t really know but this game looks really fun!
Saw this video, bought the game and all of a sudden the entire evening was gone. Played for 3h non stop. Man this was a really fun game :D
I have an inkling suspicion that Matt watches NL.
one of the most op things in the game is garlic, on max lvl this thing kills skeletons really fast (the first time i went more than 10 minutes, is when i got garlic early and i was getting it many times )
You should fill out your weapon slots, makes you and spinach way stronger than just upgrading a handful.
The name of the ability that you were using to recover HP literally means "Tomato sauce" in Naples 😂😂😂
Its supposed to be difficult early when you don't have the gold coins upgrades, try to get some of them, The Libery is easier to to farm gold. Your idea of maxing 1 weapon is the way to go, after some of the weapons hit lvl 8 you can evolve them if you have the correct passive item and open a chest after 10min you can get an evolved weapon.
Whip guy with garlic as 1st level up. Restart if you don't get it.
Also check out hidden combos for weapon ultimate level up if you are fine with spoilers.
RCE calling praying mantises grasshoppers :3
"10% is pretty strong" compared to literally doubling missile damage that helps with aoe too, by making it pierce through -_- not very engineery thinking
Your hubris was your downfall..... same as architects get.
I have watched a lot of this game, and there is hidden synergies to most of the weapons!
