      I know you're trying to help, but the idea of it only being a phase can cause people to not seek out professional or outside help because it can make them believe they can do it on their own. Coming from experience: I just assumed that eventually I would just get over it when I was in my teens, but now I'm almost thirty and I still struggle with bulimia/restrict and binge.

      Kerryxoxo. Just because someone means well doesn’t mean you can’t still correct them. It’s okay to say “I know you’re trying to help, but you’re not, so here’s how you can”. Anyone who’s genuinely trying to help wouldn’t be offended by being told how they can actually help.

    Here’s my tip for people who usually hinge on sugary foods... quit sugar! This may seem difficult but hear me out, once you hit that 21 day mark (takes 21 days to form a habit) you will no longer feel a need to have sugar thus stopping binges in general, usually if we binge on salty food we want sugary foods to balance it out, since we quit sugar this won’t be an issue anymore. For further proof I’ve been binge free for a little over 4 months now and I’m still going strong with no urges what so ever, hope this helps

    Damn I feel you I have a binge eating disorders and it feels like I just can't get it under control it's been 10 years. Had it since I was 11 😓😓😓. I have no idea how to even begin. Although the more I binge the more I gain weight the more depressed I get and hence the cycle goes on. 😓 Good to see someone else making progress makes feel hopeful that I can do iy😁

      Megaboyxz_ 01 So sorry to hear you’ve been suffering for so long😓 And from so young!!
      I absolutely relate, some people assume that it’s simply the restriction that’s making you binge, but no, there’s that and a million other reason as well. When depression kicks in, you won’t even have the motivation to restrict. You’ll eat so much that you feel sick, and see yourself in the mirror and feel even worse.
      I really do hope we can both make it to the other end of the tunnel. As long as we are blessed with tomorrow, we cannot throw away the opportunity to give it another try. No matter how many more times failure awaits to laugh at in our faces.

    I feel you...I've struggled with anorexia and cycles of binges since I'm 10yo. Now I'm almost 16yo. Still restricting and binging. My parents found out what I'm doing last summer. I was visiting psychiatrists, psychologists, taking different medications(that made things even worse) now I'm in deep depression bc all of that and the fact that I'm controlled by my parents. Stay strong❤💖 it's sad how people don't understand these diseases but pretend like they know more than we do.

      Evelina L Oh god😱 I am so sorry you have been struggling from such a young age. I developed mine when I was in high school, so I imagine the circumstances to be quite different. It’s true, we each know about our eating disorders better than anyone else. We are absolutely aware of everything we are doing wrong, and there are dozens of ways to cure it, but our ed stops us everytime. If I could just ‘eat normally’, I would have done that years ago. I truly hope that you will continue to work on getting better, even if it’s the smallest steps. At the end of the day, we can only save ourselves.

    Hey, I'm not a professional or anywhere near that but I'll tell you what worked to help straighten out my diet. I made a mental timetable of sorts. So no restricting or binging but you can still have everything. If you stick to a schedule and make sure that the menu in your schedule include things that are healthy and things which you crave then it should help. Sometimes you may crave ten different things, but what you can do is just divide those ten things for 5 meals. Like if you are craving a cake and cookies, tell yourself that you can eat the cake now and the cookies tomorrow and follow that no matter what.
    I'm not sure if you understood what I was trying to say😅 I'm not amazing at explaining.
    I used to keep focusing on what I was eating and would be eating too much and it made me crave foods alot. So now instead of thinking of what to eat and end up eating too much or too less I follow the schedule. And the cravings are also in the menu but all spaced out.

    This doesn’t apply to everyone but something that helped me was trying to stick to eating at certain times of the day with no snacking-i find i tend to binge more on snacks then on meals as snack food is sooo yummy!! I also recommend trying to home cook meals purely because then it is less convenient to just mindlessly buy lots of things but when you prepare an actual meal it feels like a meal not a binge even if you overeat. Also drinking lots of sparkling water mixed with fruit juice or squash can help fill you up. It may help to not keep tasty snacks within easy access or better still try not to buy them or try healthier substitutes, fruits really helped me as they are sweet or lots of veggies-they don’t have to be boring-you could roast them or have them raw dunked in a hummus or guacamole dip. But that’s only my ideas! Don’t worry you will get through this and you are a strong, amazing person and trust me what you are going through won’t last forever you as long as you keep up the determination to recover. Do not rush recovery, do it at your own pace! Good luck! ❤️❤️❤️Omg that was soooo long 😂😂

    Hey here are a few tips to help you out,these sort of helped me before.Firstly keep only “healthy” foods in the house and keep out all “junk” foods,aka triggering foods so that if you do binge it’s at least on vegetables and minerals aka the pinochle of health,because everyone loves a functioning heart 20 years down the road.Secondly,try your best,because I know this is very hard,to not label foods as bad or good,although contrary to the first point,it’s because if you keep fixating on the fact that there is good and bad foods and try to avoid said bad foods,your mind and body will immediately want those bad foods and there’s just so Long a human can withstand the power of our minds.Thirdly it is known that after a binge,everyone will try to offset the damage by eating close to nothing for the next few days,that will inevitably lead to another binge,so the day after the binge,(trigger warning for anyone who doesn’t like numbers I’m sorry),increase the calories you have planned for the next day by maybe 500.I know it may seem a lot but really,trust me,if you do this the next binge will be significantly lesser in calories,do this for a period of time and finally you will find your binges get lesser in frequency.Also,instead of focusing on controlling food to have control in your life,try something out,learn a new skill or try to better anything that you have previously done,this could be running faster or longer than before or anything you like.Hope this helps

    The only way to stop binging is to stop restricting.... Try to eat 1700-2000 kcals per day. Dont try to diet, just try to eat until you are satisfied. When you keep this for a while you can try to diet slowly. What really helped me is fasting Keto and eating one or two meals pre day. But firstly i fixed my eating habits a bit. Still i overeat sometimes but no to the extent i used to... Also i never buy junk food. I keep fruit and dark chocolate for sweets and i rarely eat whole bread which i love. Its a matter of habit actually. When you eat a ton of sweets a fruit seems so boring. But if you eat healthy then you crave the simple and healthy foods.

      @todorecovery  4 роки тому +8

      Thank you for the comment! I will continue working on my recovery!
      And for the recipe,
      You start by getting a good quality chicken thigh(with skin)!
      1. Stab your chicken with a fork. Put the chicken in a plastic bag and add japanese soy sauce, mirin (if you can’t find it, tea spoon of sugar, or a table spoon of honey would work too), minced garlic, cooking sake(or white wine). I pretty much eyeball this. Don’t put in too much, just enough so that the chicken is kinda covered in the marine.
      2. Let it sit in the fridge overnight or at least 2 hours.
      3. Using a non sticking pan, cook the meat on both sides, on low heat. To prevent it from burning, I add small amounts of water time to time and put the lid on. When you’ve made sure its fully cooked, add sesame oil(this is key) and cook the outer layer on high heat.
      Good luck!

      Katharina H I watch ed videos too when i’m trying to lose weight. Probably the hunger is making me even more obsessed with food, and can’t stop thinking about it. If this is tempting you to binge, don’t torture yourself with these videos😭
      Maybe, it’s better to watch people who are healthy but also so carefree about their diet. I recommend emily ewing, emma laird, and lindseyrem’s food vlogs if you haven’t checked them out already.
      They eat intuitively and it’s refreshing to see. I wish I could be like them😖Thinking about food 24/7.
      Anyways, hope you’re doing okay🙌💓positive thoughts x

      todo I obsess over food too, it’s always on my mind... Right now i’m trying to incorporate something i consider to be “unhealthy” into my daily food, so that i’ll hopefully avoid a binge by eating something small i crave. It can get difficult, but I’m less likely to binge in the morning than in the evening.. one day at a time, small steps! I’m sending you all the strength, please don’t be so hard on yourself! If a person you love would treat themselves this way, you wouldn’t let them, right? be nice to yourself, i know it can be hard :( but small steps don’t exhaust you as much :) xx take care, we can do this!!❤️

    You are so loved just the way you are, but I'm guessing you don't know that. From my experience, there is only one reason for bingeing.... and that is restriction. But there are a million reasons why women restrict. I restricted because I thought I would be more lovable thin. But that simply wasn't true. It took years to unfold this deception. But in the process I learned to love myself and others. It was a tough and wonderful journey. And it was so worth it. Everyone has their own personal path to love. Yoy can find yours. The ed is your catalyst for your real journey home. I recommend you check out Christy Harrison. She interviews lots of different people about their struggles and successes with eating disorders. My heart to yours!

    • @todorecovery
      @todorecovery  4 роки тому +1

      cloudi_myst Oh god, I am so sorry😓 I can’t begin to imagine the stress you are going through right now. People who don’t understand eating disorders would make you eat, and tell you that moderately eating is the cure. But they don’t realise that the added pressure and anxiety of not being able to control what you eat (and the weight gain) would offset any merit of moderate eating. I hope you can somehow overcome this difficult situation. There isn’t any advice I could give you, bc I don’t fully know your circumstances. However, if it was me, I would either speak openly about my internal dilemma and give your mum a better understanding of your struggles(long term solution), or fake a recovery and just go with the moderate eating so she would assume you got better and hopefully stop monitoring you 24/7 (short term solution). Either way, please don’t be hard on yourself, I know how hard it is to be forced to eat. If you manage to finish your meal, try to calm yourself and DON’T FEEL GUILTY. That guilt is going to make your situation only worse😭 Put in every effort to try and pat yourself on the shoulder for being able to eat. Your body would 100% appreciate it, and gradually your mind will follow too.
      Sending positive thoughts🙌 Take it day by day.

    I struggle with anorexia but I have a question for those who binge.. (please don’t take offense I would like to understand and empathize with you guys and am genuinely curious.) During a binge do you feel fullness or feel sick to your stomach from the food? and your brain just doesn’t care? or your brain doesn’t recognize it? I’m just wondering how you can physically eat the large amounts of food if that makes sense

    • @benniann-enaols5941
      @benniann-enaols5941 3 роки тому

      From my experience food rarely makes me feel full because binge eating that much food stretches out your stomach. What makes me feel full is drinking water or other liquids but I'm not sure why. If I binge enough to start to feel full my brain begs me to keep eating and I purge or wait 30 or so minutes until I feel like I can continue.

    • @breakfastattiffanys741

      I'm anorexic with planned binges. Your stomach gets super stretchy overtime (competitive eaters), it takes A LOT for me to feel full but even if I do or feel sick, I continue to eat because I allow myself a set time like 48 hours binge. Messed up yo.

    Hi, I'm new on your channel. I'm trying to educate myself on eating disorders and I have a question for you: do you buy the food that you eat or let that another person buys it for you? I don't know much about binge but I was thinking, if you don't buy all this food you won't eat it. Sorry if I seem rude or stupid but I just want to educate myself.
    Hope you're doing well

      Filomena D'Aniello Thank you for asking! Yes, I buy my own food. If I don’t stock up on unnecessary foods, I could prevent myself from having random binges. But when I get triggered to binge by other reasons like insecurity or stress, I would be too committed to binge, whether or not there’s any food in the house. I can just go buy food at the convenience stores which are open 24/7 or get uber.
      But trying to buy less food is definitely one way to tackle binge eating disorders. The binges would definitely be less frequent because you wouldn’t be tempted when you see it laying around the house.
