Finally, a true expert in skincare who is not just talking about the latest product releases! It's refreshing to find someone who gives honest expert advice, especially in a UA-cam world where millions of followers suddenly make that UA-camr an "expert." Can you create a video on what ingredients we should definitely avoid in any skincare product? How should we read product ingredients at the back of a bottle so that we know if what that product is claiming is actually going to happen. Some products claim they are rich in vitamin xyz, but that ingredient is actually last in their ingredients list. Yet some ingredients shouldn't be at the top of the list because they're too harsh. So it would be good to know how to read/interpret the ingredients list properly so we can be smarter consumers. Usually don't read the product descriptions anymore, I just go straight to the ingredients. =)
Dr. Sam, I too, love your videos and the fact that you are prone to shine but you don't worry about it. I am prone to shine as well and powder just a little bit in the morning and that is it for me for the day. I don't blot at all. I used to concern myself with the matter all the time. I am in my forties with no fine lines, wrinkles or spots so I will shine on and not care as well.
No powder and than you top up with a creamy foundation/concealer? That results in more shine! I find the reason that powder results in outbreak or acne nonsense! As if foundation can't do that too? If you set your foundation with mineral powder non of that will happen! I have done that all my life and have no breakouts nor acne. Taking care of your skin, cleansing etc works. Breakouts and acne come from within, so either food, illness, pollution, hormonal causes or not cleaning and taking care of your skin. I know you're a doctor, but I also know my stuff! 😊
Hello, new subscriber here. Enjoyed seeing your wise selections for your makeup bag. Very impressed with how it is not overstuffed. I seem to need multiple lip products in different colors, along with some thing(s) to fix my eye makeup since I have teary eyes, some concealer and, yes, powder, along with blotting paper. I also carry various types of SPF for my hands with me. Looking forward to binge-watching your videos, Julie
Thanks Dr Sam. Another great video. Like you, blotting paper is with me wherever I go. I've given up thinking that I'll find a primer or foundation that will truly keep my oil at bay, so blotting paper is my saviour.
Hi Dr Sam! Love your channel. Thanks for all the great info. Have you tried Bobbi Brown pot rouge? I highly recommend it, you can use it as a cream blush, a stain for the lips with lip balm on top and as a creamy and light eyeshadow. It’s so simple and looks incredible. Lisa Eldridge recommended it and I have been loving it ever since.
Dr Sam, I love the simplicity of your makeup bag. I, myself, have too much in my makeup bag. I carry about 6 or more different lip products, and many more multiple products for the rest of the face. I tend to like a more natural look myself and after seeing your makeup bag, I think I need to figure out my signature lip, etc. so I don't need a second purse to carry all my "essentials". :)
I could sit and watch you all day and I love these kind of videos but this one tops them all!!! I have recently discovered I have a few allergies and been advised to stay clear of Iron Oxide which is in pretty much every cosmetic and my entire make up collection!! Gutted is not the word!! 😔 really enjoyed this video though 😉 x
Maybe, Dr. Sam, you could do a video on a foundation/ base makeup routine to demonstrate it. Also, for oily people living in tropical humid climates please XX
I enjoy using both the Stila Convertible Color & Burberry English Rose--bought those both (along with Essie Wicked) thanks to another one of your videos :) I recently fell in love with YSL Touche Eclat... late to the party, I know. So that's thrown into my makeup bag. I'm a huge perfume junkie so I always have a decant or two in my bag to change things up. Love the video, excited to see what else you have in store for us!
Dr. Sam, maybe you could do another video about wearing no powder as this is quite controversial. Could you pls share how you do your foundation/base makeup with us? Also, for oily girls from tropical humid climates? I heard that wearing powder foundation is better than creme or liquid ones as it allows the skin to breathe during the day and it's easier to remove (no need of makeup removers) at night. Could you pls enlighten us about that? XX
만세 Huuuray!! I'm 58 and still oily. I've always used powder in some form. I don't understand her reasoning against powder. There are some very beneficial powders on the market. Like minerals?
Hi Dr Sam, I highly recommend the By Terry Touche Veloutee in No. 2. Very easy on the go and I wash the brush with fairy liquid (to make sure it's clean). Also, I love By Terry highlighter pen No. 4 (advising colours that I use as we have very similar colouring). I love the Clarins Instant Light lip perfector in 07 which is my favourite colour in that range. I also have the Stila convertible in peony and Kevin Aucoin brow pencil. Another find is Benefit Ready, Set, Brow. Brushing my brows is a must for me or I look dishevelled! Thanks very much for sharing. I love to see what products Dermatologists use. Shelley x
Hi, is the Kevin Aucoin eyebrow pencil brilliant? I use the Suuqu one which is great but v pricey. Also, do you find the Stila cream blush breaks you out at all?
Hi, I like the eyebrow pencil. Do Suqqu have a pencil? I have used the Suqqu pen but when I bought it they only had a pen or powder. Stila doesn't break me out no.
Hi Shelley, yes you're right Suquu is either pen or powder, no pencil available - I use the pen and its brilliant. I will check out the Stila & try out the Kevin Aucoin product on my next visit to Space NK
+Chicpea101 hhmm I think I now need to have the Suqqu pen in reserve as I love brilliant products too :-) Try the Aucoin pencil but don't be too quick to give up the Suqqu! I have the Suqqu eyeshadow palette in Himesango No 11 and the quality is excellent. Check out Stila. I bought the Bobbi Brown one but always go back to the Stila. Shelley x
+Chicpea101 Hi, just bought the new Precisely, my brow pencil by Benefit and it has actually a better colour selection. So natural, looks like real brow hair and easy to get.
The MUJI blotting papers are so great! Would be interested to hear why you don't recommend powders for acne prone skin. I have combination skin and need to use powder on my t-zone to make sure my base lasts more than a couple of hours...
I carry all of my makeup and brushes with me every day, as I have a small makeup collection, and I generally slap on my face at work. My bag includes: bareMinerals Mineral Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Prep Lotion, Josie Maran Argan Black Oil Mascara, RMS UnCoverup, W3LL PEOPLE Narcissist Foundation Stick, bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Shadow in Soft Linen, bareMinerals READY 2.0 in The Enlightenment, Sephora Collection Lip Liner to Go in Classic Red, Winky Lux Matte Velour Lipstick in Crush, and plain lip balm for when I'm not rocking the red lip. I am looking to add a black liquid eye liner (W3LL PEOPLE's when they release it) and a plum eyeshadow (Lily Lolo's Truffle Shuffle).
Love the video, as always! I can get most of these product in the States, so it's a huge plus. I was wondering what you do to touch up sunscreen in the afternoon. I have very fair skin as well and I am diligent about putting matte SPF product in the morning, then i usually use foundation with SPF and I thought it was a great routine. I recently heard dr. Marco Lens say that this routine would not keep me protected all day, because you need to reapply sunscreen throughout the day. It got me worried, because i leave the office around 3 pm and in the summer it is still pretty sunny out at that time. I would love to hear your thoughts. Greetings!!
Dr Sam, I'm new to you channel! Love what I'm seeing so far... Is it possible for you to go more in depth on your " anti powder" ideas? I'm 42, and don't suffer from Acne, however I, a shiny t zone girl, and have had blackheads on my nose since puberty. Could powder be the culprit? I'd love to hear your thoughts...best!
Hi Sam, love your videos. Just wondering what your personal opinion is of organic makeup? and would you recommend to people with acne prone skin? Thanks x
Hey Dr Sam! I like to keep a baby's toothbrush (£1 from tesco) in my make-up bag to buff my lips. I can't live without Avon glimmersticks for eyes and lips - they don't need sharpening and are soft so they don't drag on the skin. I use their lipliner (in a rose shade, actually) all over my lip as it lasts longer than lipstick. It would be great if you could do a piece on primers. Thanks!!
Hi Dr Sam, thanks for your videos, I'm addicted. The Burberry lipstick looks great, I just may treat myself next payday. Do you use the Armarni foundation just for touch ups? If so what do you use as a general foundation? My makeup bag includes Chantecaille tinted moisturiser, bare minerals powder ( what are views on that one?) Chantecaille lip chic ( best lipstick on planet earth ) Armarni eyeliner, Bobbi Brown eye shadows, Clarins instant light concelear, Revelon telescopic mascara.Id be interested to know what you think, x
Hi, thank you for your videos. I am quite tempted by the Armani compact foundation but I have a question : are you not worried about the argan oil in it (considering you have oily skin)? It is comedogenic.
Hello, Dr. Sam! Some really great tips in this video. Do you have a video about why you discourage powder products for acne-prone skin...or would you consider making one? :)
Hi Dr Sam. Love your videos! I was wondering your opinion on mirvaso for the treatment of facial redness? I was in the clinical trial for Mirvaso years ago and it gave me a lot of rebound redness. I hear the Allergan is coming out soon with a similar product for facial redness. Do you think it will be better tolerable than Mirvaso, because I know thats a huge downfall of the Mirvaso product...that it causes too much rebound redness. That would be amazing if the new Allergan product had less of a rebound effect. Anyways, thanks!
...I was surprised to see you using a compact though? I guess if it's just for touch-ups it's not as bad as all over as your primary base? I take it that it was cream rather than powder?
What is your opinion on nanoparticles in sunscreen? I read a study on nanoparticles being cytotoxic to fibroblasts, so I don't know how comfortable I feel putting it on my face.
How nice to see someone not waste product. You made me smile. I love normal, sensible people.

Thank you for posting. As a pale Celtic girl myself, I would love to know more about your recommended makeup items.
Pale beauties aren’t helped enough on health and beauty videos!

Tide pen, shisheido blotting paper, olio e osso tinted lip balm, genteal eye drips and vicks inhaler♥️

Please do a video why you don't recommend powder make up when prone to acne .. Because everyone says you can use only powder with acne. Please help!!!
Dr. Sam, I think this is a good topic quite controversial as well.

Wow, oily skin and no powder? How does that work? My foundation moves all over my face if I don't set it with powder.
Love your videos. xx

Dr Sam, I recommend the Kiko blotting papers as well !!

Is it possible to prevent the reddness that comes with celtic skin?
Hi Sam, love your videos. Just wondering what your personal opinion is of organic makeup? and would you recommend to people with acne prone skin? Thanks x
or Combo skin?
Have you tried Tatcha blotting papers? They're perfect!
You are very beautiful and you look elegant with the white top. I really like the details of your blouse.

Thanks Jess, I'll ditch the Bare Minerals & take a look at Nars
Hi, thank you for your videos. I am quite tempted by the Armani compact foundation but I have a question : are you not worried about the argan oil in it (considering you have oily skin)? It is comedogenic.
Hi Dr Sam,
What is your opinion on makeup setting sprays? Especially for an oily and acne prone skin?
Thanks for sharing.
Hello, Dr. Sam! Some really great tips in this video. Do you have a video about why you discourage powder products for acne-prone skin...or would you consider making one? :)
She mentioned in other videos that the fine powder particles enters and clogs up the pores on one's face.
Hi Dr Sam. Love your videos! I was wondering your opinion on mirvaso for the treatment of facial redness? I was in the clinical trial for Mirvaso years ago and it gave me a lot of rebound redness. Why?
How about mineral makeup?
Your skin is so beautiful
I am curious as to what eyeliner you use? My eyes are fairly sensitive,
so I just tight line, no waterline, but smudging is an issue...any tips!
Could you please tell me the music at the start of Dr. Sam Bunting's videos? xoxo
What shade of nars concealer? I also want to know for brown eye area?
What is your opinion on nanoparticles in sunscreen? I read a study on nanoparticles being cytotoxic to fibroblasts, so I don't know how comfortable I feel putting it on my face.
Simplyserene101 I imagine the possible risk of sunscreen causing cancer is hugely outweighed by the definite cancer causing effects of sun exposure.
Jenabuble That makes a lot of sense. I'd like to know whether or not it's worth pursuing nano-free formulations, or if that's just a waste of time.
Don’t use nano sunscreen if your skin is broken/ injured
Dr Sam, why is it that you don't like powder for oily skin?
Thank you! I didn't catch that myself.
Hello Dr. Sam! I am new to your channel and am blown away. I would like to know what your watch is. Thanks in advance! :)
Been inquisitive too!! It looks so classy!
your accent suddenly sounds so American.
