I honestly love the symbolism at 3:29 so much. Elphie is willing and is going to defy gravity, she’s doing what she wants to and no one can tell her otherwise. Meanwhile Glinda is happy with her life and doesn’t want to do what she thinks is impossible. I love it soooo much!!

I love how you didn’t make them both look like carbon copies. Like how you have elphie a strong jaw and long straight nose and Glinda a soft jaw and soft button nose and round face. Things like that really define characters and Idk I just noticed that right away and also your art is actually stunning!!

Oh myyy god honestly I haven't watched/listened to all of Wicked, but I know this song, and there's something to seeing the absolute magic of the final chorus in this way. Idk, I think it may be because of the little tricks she does with the broom and how she just soars with the most confidence, but I really ended up feeling this song in a way that I know she herself is feeling it: absolute freedom.

I love how ironic it is they both say "I hope you're happy" when Elfie's ending is waaaay better than Glinda's. Or maybe that's just the way I interpreted it. lol
Sometimes I think that Elphiba, is that how you spell it?, was a lesbian for Glinda but was terrified of how she would react and this was her way of explaining her feelings to her by rejecting the life she could have had with the wizard. And they both unknowingly said I love you to other when they had their little duet part about running away together.

Ok if you ever get a chance to see Wicked on Broadway, DO IT. JUST FOR THIS SONG DO IT. At the end of the song when Elphaba starts rising on her broom all of the other characters get the light taken off of them and it's all on Elphy. And when she hits that high note at the very end all of the spotlights on her. Then she cuts off and all the lights turn off. When that happened in the theater I started crying it was so beautiful.
I saw Wicked as a school field trip and when this song played I was stunned. After hearing it I looked towards my friend and whispered “that was gorgeous”

man youtube took WAY too long to recommend this to me. i've love wicked since i was tiny, i've seen it five times live and i've got a poster full of cast signatures framed in my room. when my anxiety first got bad, i couldn't sleep unless i was listening to the soundtrack.
this actually got me to tear up with how beautiful it is. like god if anyone on the planet could portray the sheer emotion, the way this one song can take you so low and then so high... idk i didn't think it was possible, but you DID it. i honestly feel like i need to get up to go to intermission after this, haha. i'm tearing up thank you so much for posting this, from the bottom of my heart. i know i'm just some rando on the internet so it might not mean a lot, but. here ya go.
