    Some more quick tips:
    - Dangerous atmos will insta 1-3k toxin damage you if you take internals off, ensure tank is full
    - Other things like the expedition console and an o2 canister are good things to keep on ship with you
    - When mining, your pka is you slowest choice, use a pickaxe or even a crusher, they are faster
    - When magneting ship fragments, there arent usually strong enemies, just lots of them
    - Learn how to kite your fish, and xenos threat level is dictated by speed and size
    -Watch crossfire, I've seen so many die to an unintended shot that crits em
    -Before leaving station, get someone to go ask medical for a medkit and ask engi for goggles
    -Finally, remember miner's code! We are brothers, strong together!
    -ROCK AND STONE!

      Insuls, don't forget insuls

      @mozarteanchaos Рік тому +4

      @@frog_man_ree seconding this, insuls are surprisingly useful for salvagers. i once got killed on a wreckage because of an electrified grille - other salv accidentally bumped me into it with a crate, it stunned me long enough for the resident carp to maul me - so if i had insuls, i would've survived and maybe even had a carp corpse to bring to chemistry.
      i mean, i would've also survived if i stayed out of the way of the other salv, they'd been more careful with where they were dragging the crate, or we'd just killed the carp before trying to leave, but the most effective way to prevent the problem is to remove the cause - why avoid the grille if you could instead be immune to the grille?

      indeed slavage/mining are always brothers in arms and fuckery. like cargo we are our own kind. Traitor salvage technician is disgustingly OP: it lets you legally have lethal ballistic weapons, a jetpack, insulated gloves, welding goggles, a full set of tools, externals access, and a hardsuit. You can murder your colleagues on a planet, or use it as a foolproof body/evidence dumping ground, or both.

    • @mozarteanchaos
      @mozarteanchaos Рік тому

      just be careful to take care of your colleagues _before_ doing traitor stuff, else they'll say "oh, yeah, Urist McHands was probably the guy who bombed the cargo shuttle and stole the controls, they're not with us on the ship at the moment" and the next time you're seen on the station you'll be shot
      (true story, i was a cargo tech that round and the only reason we knew who did it was because the salvage crew told us who was missing at the time of the crime)

      Also, you can't order bananium, the crates ordered plasma sheets come in are locked, meaning Cargo cannot distribute them easily, and the artifact fragments help Sci get a jump-start without having to spawn potentially-destructive anomalies.

    Some tips:
    - If you feel like you aren't going to make it in time to shuttle from the planet, you can fulton yourself straight to the station (provided you've set up a beacon and linked your set of fultons to it): get in a locker/chest and use fulton on it while you're inside (or fulton first, then get inside).
    - You can stuff crates and lockers with quite a lot of stuff. Use it to maximize your fulton potential.
    - A basic steel crate needs 5 steel to be built. It takes about 8 sec to construct one. No tools are needed.
    - Instead of dragging machinery (autolathes, fabs, cloning pods, SMESs, substations, and such) you can quickly disassemble it and grab just machine circuit boards (screwdriver + crowbar + crowbar). Remember that you can disassemble multiple machines at the same time if you stand close enough to them. Taking out circuit boards from computers takes a bit more effort: screwdriver + crowbar + wirecutter + screwdriver + crowbar. Also, I don't think that machines on planets can spawn with advanced components, so don't bother grabbing anything other than the circuit board unless you feel like grabbing them ofc.
    - Knowing how to disassemble regular walls is helpful (reinforced ones take ages to deconstruct): most likely it'll take less time than looking for a proper entrance or a window.
    - Consider getting yourself a Crusher Dagger: it's useless as a weapon, but it has an infinite omnidirectional flashlight with decent range and it can be stored in your pocket slot.
    - Communicate with the rest of the cargo. Help them and they'll help you: certain goods that you shouldn't have according to Sec (guns 'n' lasers) can be very helpful in expeditions. Advanced medkits are nice to have too.
    - Do grab a GPS before setting out to mine an asteroid or loot wreckage: can save your life if an asteroid or spacewreck disappears from under your feet. Less useful planetside.
    - Don't assume that North is up. Num8 if in doubt.
    - Don't ram the station: makes it harder for you to "dock" and unload your shuttle until you build proper shuttle airlocks for your flying bucket.
    - If there isn't enough space for both cargo and salvage shuttles you can modify either your shuttle or the station. Use rods to build lattice. Even a single full stack is enough to make a decent landing zone for your shuttle.

    About evacing planets, while I didn't play salv for a while now as QM I had salvagers return crying about how they left someone behind.
    Now they could've meant they died too far away to have their body be carried back in time, but they made it sound like they did just click the button and left the guy stranded. Might test this when I have the time

    You can use random mask (such as clown, mime or even bear one), and with that mask you can breath and eat at the same time!

    Ramming the station results in the station moving or it beginning to rotate which could be a hassle for salvagers to deal with when they have no proper ship dock to latch onto.
    (You can use the spacebar as a brake when piloting to slow your momentum as to not move the station or send it into a spin when docking)

    Dont brush off derelicts, those little blue scrap heaps may look innocuous, but they are decent sources of material stacks, soulless bodies for gibbing, medical supplies, random crates, and "interesting" rare loot pools, (and im not talking about the pair of instant valids, as funny as they are), at the very least, while waiting on two different cooldowns, they are a great tuck and roll
    Also, i find fultons are amazing at not only looting, but extracting, you can very easily get yourself out of an exped by climbing into a container marked for pickup

    You say GPS is the least useful, but one time Me and my salv buddy got abandon on an astroid by the 3rd salv who was a traitor. Once we got the station's coords, we used our GPS and PKA/crusher to propel ourself back to station. We nearly got hit by a bunch of meteors too lol.

    @Oliver_The_Otter Рік тому +3

    The GPS is actually one of the most useful tools in case of an emergency. When I’m QM I scold my salv team for not having it if they don’t due to the fact that it is very easy to get stranded in space with no way back to the station. Makes it easier to find then

    A little correction right from the beginning.
    Pulling asteroids and wreckages is what salvage team should do 95% of time if their goal is to assist the station. the reason is simple there is absolutely nothing of value to the station on the planetary expeditions and the only stuff that is valuable (like ore for example) is useless to mine on them since there is more of it on wreckage and asteroids. the ONLY reason to go expos is cloning on maps where medical don't have it from the beginning. not only wreckages and meteors OBJECTIVELY yield more useful loot they also less dangerous. considering that people still somehow die on more than easy new expeditions. you can go expos but know that you are doing so not cus there is ANYTHING of value but just cus you want PVE. artefacts?
    2 asteroids might yield enough shards to make 8 of them. (and you can easily find them on the wreckage as well) bluespace parts? ALso exist on wreckages AND if you are doing meteors you will have so much recourses r&d workers will start blaming you cus they can't keep up with how much youy bring while engies literally finishing building a copy of deathsquad ship just for the lols and given enough time will make another one. And again i said 95% of the time. once you bring all that is NECECERRY to the station through magnet salvaging you can go expo to get some lowquality specific funny loot that might do something once every 10 rounds. borgs will be glad to recieve a gold baterry extra genarators cus r&d never makes any even if they research them some other funny stuff.
    p.s. making a proper airlock to dock and floor fans to actually have some atmosphere shouldn't be costly at all if you do not waste time on expos.

    • @ImpuscaVana
      @ImpuscaVana Рік тому +2

      You do debries and asteroids for THE Station as a whole. Right now, expeds is mostly for YOU (Yes! You! The Salvagers.) to get chemical dispenser, ammo techfabs, and some other non-important items.
      It'll probably be way more balanced and a actually worthwhile investment once they finish whatever they are planning to do with the expedition reworks.
