😂 front tires wear that way... Think about the applied force on the disc by your caliper.. stressing your spokes, then the rim, then the carcass of the tire, skidding.. to find grip while wearing that wedge pattern😊 looks normal... Or mine are all screwed up too😅

Both rear tires are awesome both fronts leave a LOT to be desired. TR8, MX216, MT21 are all far better front tires. All front tires will scallop like that unless you barely use the front brake the only front I had that didn't scallop was a Bridgestone AX41

I think all tires with more spacing between the knobs/tread will do that in the front, because the force on the road from the front tire is always going towards the rear, so it flexes the knob ever so slightly and gives it that angled wear. You see it even with truck tires, if someone hasn't rotated their mud terrains consistently you can really see that type of pattern, but even all terrains out at the edges where the knobs have less support.

These days I'm riding ATVs for off road and baggers for highway but if seems to me that if i was going to get back into dual sport and just had to have a dirt bike for the street, I'd buy 2 of them. One a supermoto and one for dirt exclusively. Have one trail oriented with full blown knobbies and trail gearing and setup just for the bare minimum of looking street legal for hitting the least amount of pavement that was absolutely necessary for getting between trails.
    That's just my personal philosophy.
I get the appeal of riding a 300lb or less dirt bike on the roads. They're an absolute blast on a twisty mountain road but the tires and gearing always feel like a compromise unless the machine is set up heavily in favor of one purpose or the other.

Rear tires will put the wear on both acceleration and braking... Front tires wear a wedge from the rubber because they do it only under breaking 😔 unless you're pushing a lot of lateral loads through turning G-Force😂

My dsport is starting to wear like that an I've got about 2800 miles on them with a mix of asphalt gravel and dirt.

I run the D-sport on my 690 and have identical wear as the 606. Tire pressure, road conditions, don't seem to matter. I also had identical wear on the Pirelli mt-21.
Just FYI, I did run mitas E07 Dakar and they were shot at 1800 miles, ($300ish for the pair). The mt-21 2500 miles, D-sport 3500 miles.
Obviously the D-sport is way cheaper than the others and is my goto tire from now on.

They look the same with just enough difference to avoid legal action

I thought all front knobbies wear that way if you ride on the pavement very much at all? Every front tire I’ve had has done this. Including the d606. And I’m very light on the front brake. Probably too much so.
Have you tried the irc tr8? I’m about to put one of the front of my drz400. The d606 seemed fine to me except for wanting to wash out in the fine/slick stuff at times. But maybe any dual sport tire would have done that. My pressures are usually a little high anyways…
I had read good things about the tr8 but now that I have it here in person it doesn’t seem aggressive enough. We’ll see

I've heard nothing good about the 606 front tire. The IRC will surely be a much better option on the front. Definitely have to drop from street pressures if you're gonna be riding technical off-road. 14lbs front 12lbs rear is pretty common for tube tires and make the difference in performance keep a small bike pump with you to get back up to road pressures so the tires don't roll out.

I have a set of TR8's setting in garage, they will be going on my DRZ 4s when it arrives in April . This will be my first try with TR8;s

@@UpNortBassin I’m switching back and forth between pavement and dirt too much to be able to do that, which is why my pressures are a little on the higher side for off road riding. But if I’m just going to do extended trail riding then I will air down ofcourse, but that isn’t very often, and if that was the case I’d be on a dirt bike with true dirt tires aswell.

BTW, did you ever report on the wear of those Dunlop EN91’s. Were they worth the higher price.

I put about 900 mi. On a rear, it is about half tread, it’s good on road, but IMO not great off road . The AMS bite MX & Trakmaster are better.

Those are 90 / 10 tires. 90 percent off road 10 street. They are basically designed for crossing roads. Not extended street use.
