    I bought one of those gas can adaptors and the compact gas burner and compact cooking set from Biker Bits a few years ago. I travelled throughout NZ and cooked every day and night with them. It saved me many hundreds or even thousands of dollars, compared to eating out two or three times per day over many weeks. In Australia, it all has a permanent place in my 4WD and is ready for any bike ride occasion. Very pleased with my purchase.

    You are greatly entertaining. I'm sure you got this comment several times, but I was afraid you were going to blow yourself up... Exciting, but frightening.
    The first time I lit my father-in-law's Coleman stove, I thought I was going to blow myself up. I did something out of order and the flame jumped out of the stove and went down the hill where we were camping. It was exciting, I am glad nobody was watching me. That's what I get for trying to get a head start on breakfast. I was glad the motorcycles were up the hill.
    I just watched earlier this week you're thrilling exercise of a wheelie going bad. That was also entertaining. I think we have all done that. I am sure glad you are okay after your wheelie experience. Then you try to blow yourself up with a stove. We live a world apart, but we have both done the same dumb stuff. Human males, we can't help it. Thank you Mark for the entertainment.

    Hi Mark, i have the 2nd stove you showed and use the aerosal cans with an adapter as they are much cheaper here in the UK than the round canisters you showed.I didnt know about the arrows on the cans so will have to check if we have that on our cans here. I use a stubby holder to stop the can rolling when in use. Also you are so right about having part filled cans as i always take a fresh can if I go on a trip. Keep up the great videos and stay away from fire lol

    Difference in price is because the other cartridges have a mixture of different fuels so they can be better utilised for differing conditions. Companion canisters have a mixture of 45% butane, 28% isobutane and 26% propane,

      Came to say the same thing. The n-butane cheapy is fine in mild weather at sea level, but as you rise/cool you'll experience lower vapour pressure and poorer performance.

    I have the second stove on the video, but I pulled the legs off and made a plate to fit my trangia it was a cheaper way of adapting it to gas and its wind proof even works in a gale but you must pack thin paper between the pots to stop the pots rubbing together so the aluminium doesn't rub into a fine powder when adventure riding on rough roads like the Birdsville track, its a much better system, boils water fast and everything is contained in the kit.

    Kmart here in Rocky has the 227g Campmaster 74%Butane/26%Propane mix cans for $4.50 each. That's 3 times the price of a 220g butane can(Kmart$4.50 - 3pk) but that's still far cheaper than the camping stores.

    Mark, with the second stove, I assume it is designed for the canister to be upright with the stove sitting up on a box or something beside it???? That to me makes your stove and adapter far better suited to use on a bike trip where you’ll be cooking on the ground.

  • @jimmybutler6451

    So funny I had to show the wife and she thought that errant flame was hilarious. Don’t try this at home 😂

  • @stephenmundane
    @stephenmundane 2 роки тому +1

    The arrows on the canister are telling you to put the canister on its base and use it upright, not which side to lay it on. The gas in the canister is actually a liquid as it is under high pressure and the flare ups are excess quantities of the liquid propane/butane flooding the stove. Only petrol and kero stoves and a special "inverted canister" gas stove have fuel canisters that are typically used lying on their sides.

    • @ebikecnx7239
      @ebikecnx7239 Рік тому +1

      Sorry, but you are wrong. He is right. These are for what in Asia we call picnic stoves, or butane barbecue stoves. In all these applications the canister lies flat, but cutout tab up as that prevents flare ups.
