It didn't really happen that way. Different developers started from completely different levels of graphic design regardless of release date during the life of the N64. Yes, they each progressed, but if you were to watch them in order of release date, the difference in sophistication would vary drastically still, and not look like an uphill progression.
like the mortal kombat games became more 3D after MK3 so did a couple other fighting and sports game, the WWF No Mercy was my favorite 🔥 also NFL Blitz 🏈 and NBA Hangtime 🏀 made me feel like i had the latest gaming technology 😂
Anyone else just throw this on in the background while getting work done? Something about the familiar sounds, that bit crunched quality, and the varied sounds is both nostalgic and meditative.
Thank you very much for all your excelent effort, I just want to praise you with eternal respect wishes. The N64 had a more limited library of games than Saturn and PSX but it still had more than 150 games that deserve to check out, one console that I love and now I know a lot of people will meet the wonders of this console, Thanks to your sublime work.
@@whosaidthat84 Saturn has over 1000 games iirc but most are Japanese where it came in second to the PS1. Re the footage for this video - it's either emulated so in way too high res and not much of reflection of how the game originally looked or very blurry indeed. I would go back and capture all these games yourself Virtual Gaming Library with a proper capture device. Then this would be a valuable archive. Re. the N64: very easy for me to pass on this console entirely.
To me nearly 400 games is still a lot. I can only absorb so much lol. The biggest reason is this was essentially the replacement for a CD as on. SNES was a relatively accomplished console that converted anything 2d. N64 tied up the loose end of accomplishing 3d. Which wouldn’t require too many titles, was actually surprised it has as many titles as it did. US we got less than 300 games, a few badgers we didn’t get like Sin and Punishment
Have you ever played the Australian exclusive games called HSV Adventure Racing? It's the exact same game as beetle adventure racing but they did a sprite swap basically and you drive a sports car instead of a beetle. It's my favorite version of the game and it con only be played on an emulator unless you have a pal n64. It won't run on my ntsc n64 using everdrive 64. I play it in an Odroid xu4 running retropie. The Odroid xu4 is a beast when it comes to n64 emulation and blows the raspberry pi out of the water.
58:03 this game is known in english as "Sin and Punishment", never got released outside JP for the N64, but it had a full english dub which made many english speakers able to play. The game got a cult status, it's innovative gameplay and mature story for the N64 really stood out for it.
PRefer playing them using an emulator and my Steam controller tbh. The N64 stick was so garbage. And the Steam trackpad is by far the best for flipping the camera 180 (and any other degree) than even a second analog stick, in games like DK64 and Mario64.
The real experience of this video is at 18:53, when after almost 20 minutes of games, some of which had _notoriously_ choppy framerates, F-Zero X hits you.
@@havenkeeper6400 A handful of them were, but this video isn't too accurate in portraying that. Dark Rift runs at 60fps, for example, but the low-quality footage here is only 30fps. And while Bomberman 64 technically can hit 60fps, it's only very rarely. This video shows it running at a consistent 60fps on an emulator.
Thank you my friend! This is a really important thing you did, and I would watch an much longer video just to have more gameplay time for all of these games!
Thanks for the video, and for the work of the team ! I wondered why the quality of the capture of the N64 games were different from one another: the highest quality are emulator captured and the low quality are captured directly from the N64? Or something else, maybe? I'll watch the other videos as well. Keep up the good work 😊
Ha!... Goldeneye, Top Gear Rally, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Glover, Mario (64, Party, Kart), Super Smash Bros, Yoshi's Story, ISS, Diddy Kong Racing, Body Harvest, Zelda(s), Pilotwings, Banjo-Kazooie, Nagano, DK, 1080, Pokemon Snap and Stadium, SCARS, Shadow Man, Silicon Valley, Tetrisphere, Turok(s), Wave Race and WipeOut: What an era of video games! Nostalgia, you got me!
@@petermacias19 It will only get more expensive I think as supplies dry out of everyone's basement and garages due to the nostalgic generation now having money. I sadly admit I am one of them that has bought just about every good game and two consoles and like 8 controllers because those are getting more expensive and hard to find in good condition as well. But dude, I'm so glad I did and it was worth it.
I adored Castlevania. Even like first version over upgrade. Kanomi did a GASP too, seemed a lot like CV64. Protagonists even had same style clothes as Schneider.
I asked my mom to get the game boy for my 13th birthday and got Looney tunes bass fishing my big brother got me donkey Kong country 💩💩💩💩💩💩 my life never got over it ☹️😭😰😳🤪😵😡😠🤬
Those who have gone from N64 to PSX, like me must surely have felt a huge void for the absence of good Platform games like Mario64 or Banjo Kazooie and fantastic FPS/GDR experience like Turok or Hexen...But i have to admit that i had amazing time too on PSX with Gran turismo, Crash Tekken and Rsident evil back in the days.
Pilotwings 64, Mario Golf 64,Golden eye, Super smash Bros, Super Mario 64, Mario Party, Hércules, Tarzan, Spiderman, Toy story, mortal Kombat, Mario kart 64, Donkey Kong 64, Fifa 99, Star Fox 64, Tony hawk, Resident evil 2, BRING ME HERE! THANK YOU FOR CREATED THESE GAMES
Today I woke up dreaming of a game, on which we controlled a slim tall guy in a dark setting, and climbing a steep tower just walking, without difficulties. It happens that it was a mix of Reinhardt Schneider, from Castlevania 64, in one of Shadow Man's dark scenarios, climbing one of those red towers from the desert stage of Mario 64. Crazy! I love these 3 games and simply played them 3 a lot during their days...
@@SiMBi0ZZA I guess I answered you properly. If you're still curious, you can improve your question based on my answer. I didn't refuse to give details, I just dont think they're needed. This is a channel and a video completely unrelated to the subject of this symbol, and to the reason I'm using it currently.
Some very fun findings watching this video: ─ In Japan there was a "beta Pokémon Stadium", our Pokémon Stadium 1 is their Pokémon Stadium 2, and our Pokémon Stadium 2 is some kind of "Pokémon Stadium Crystal Version" for them. Crazy! ─ There was a Scooter version of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Razor Freestyle Scooter lol
Esse console foi da época que mais curti videogame na minha vida. Me lembro que aguardava chegar o sábado pra alugar fita e passar o final de semana jogando com amigos ou sozinho. O Nintendo 64 sempre será meu console favorito. Meus jogos favoritos: Zelda Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Shadownman, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye 007, Turok
There's one very particular game I've been trying to find for years and I'm almost positive it's an n64 game. I believe I played a little bit of when I had rented it one day but I dont remember very much of it at all. All I can remember if anything was it was some kid I believe who had a backwards hat and had like some type of zap gun in his hand. And im pretty sure one of the levels I remember was like a lava level. And I still can't till this day remember the name of the game. I think if I saw gameplay or something I'd be able to spot it out possibly.

Thank you sir. It's been years that I tried to find some flashes of memories of games I played in my childhood. Have not found some but found some I didn't remember like the bee battle one. The nostalgia is quite nice and now I'll find some gameplay to remember
Top 5 games from my childhood: 1. Mario Kart 2. 007 3. Zelda 4. Ken Griffey Jr Slugfest 5. NFL Blitz Honorable mention: Tony Hawk , Super Smash Bros, Wave Race To each their own and God Bless the nostalgia we all feel during this video. Thank you for making
One of the games I used to play isn't on here but maybe I remember so little of it that I didn't see enough to recognize the gameplay. All I remember is it was sci-fi astronaut game that let you walk around on planets of the solar system.
This is a good one buddy nice compilation of N64, after the SNES I got the PS1 due to the nature of the games on the market. My brother and I switched consoles often😁👍
You know, once upon a time, we called the N64 "Project Reality." We were so amazed at how realistic the graphics and gameplay looked and felt that we thought games couldn't get any more realistic. Boy, how times have changed. No shade to the N64 because there were a lot of great titles, but most of these games look like big masses of messy polygons stitched together by a drunken hobo.
Love these vids! The amount of effort needed must be gigantic. I'm wondering what kind of list you use when you make these videos. Do you source and compare the number of games from several sites and data sets? I'm asking because several sources give very different total game counts, that are often slightly different from the one in your video and sometimes widely different like the sega saturn video, i believe (50+ titles difference). Can you give me some background about your decisionmaking in that regard?
All the people who spin negative comments on the Nintendo 64, what are you doing here? Wouldn't that be jealousy, by any chance? That’s weird. Because if I see a video game console that does not interest me, I go look elsewhere, I have no interest in making negative comments and insulting the system. It’s just stupid.
@@coolman2805 I agree with you. While I absolutely loved the game and played it up and down, you have to admit it aged like milk. Hoping for a refurbished version on Steam like they did with the first two Turok games. Would love to revisit 007 with proper mouse aiming and decent view distance.
Din't mind me, I'm just gonna make a list for myself of games I want to play, here. - 007 The World is Not Enough - TenEighty Snowboarding - Aero Fighters Assault (meh) - AeroGauge - Army Men: Air Combat - Army Men: Sarges Heroes (+ 2) - Asteroids Hyper 64 (for 2 minutes) - Automobili Lamborghini - Bomberman 64 - Banjo-Kazooie (and Tooie)
Awesome job on making this a complete library of N64 games. 1st Edit: I just given you a like. 2nd Edit: Thank you for not including the unlicensed games.
Had DK64, Mario Kart, Rogue Squadron, and Mario 64 as a kid. Now I’m collecting the other timeless titles. Turok series, smash bro’s, Conker, banjo, diddy Kong racing, Yoshi, Wave Race, 1080, goldeneye, and more
47:53 Did anyone know, that Robopon 64 was first release In 1999 in Japan only. I was so surprised for the game existed. But It’s to bad the game never made it in the West.
Winback is actually a very addictive game with a cool mix of realistic and arcade styles. There is also a skit that will play if you leave it on the start game screen long enough, which they made easy to miss for some stupid reason.

Used to play Winback wayyyy back forgot the name of it. But remeber some scene of it. Now I can finally die in peace knowing I found my childhood game!!!!!!
Starcraft 64 wasnt cancelled on Europe, because there is an Australian version which its PAL territory, so It was launched in America and Europe (PAL territory includes Australia)
Wait, is this really all the N64 had to offer? I figured there would be a whole lot more games. Not that I can think of any I know missing. Just wow. Reality check right there.
This video highlights that n64 was shovelware, I had one and I thought it was great until I knew I had been oversold and was not delivering the games they promised. I still appreciate the good games it had, but doesn't change the fact that it's loaded with shovelware.
It rocked slightly more irreplaceable classics than PS1 though if you count them. I own basically all the good games for both systems and enjoy them equally.

What about the rest? 😅 Great going on the title help, this helps.
A great resource video for finding games to play for the N64. The time and work it takes to make a video like this is appreciated.
I would love to see a compilation like this but sorted by release date - watch as the development software became more sophisticated over time
It didn't really happen that way. Different developers started from completely different levels of graphic design regardless of release date during the life of the N64. Yes, they each progressed, but if you were to watch them in order of release date, the difference in sophistication would vary drastically still, and not look like an uphill progression.
The N64 games graphically is more of less the same
@@ayudatengopiedrasenlosrino3786not really. you can definitely see an evolution if you compare mario 64 with conker.
like the mortal kombat games became more 3D after MK3 so did a couple other fighting and sports game, the WWF No Mercy was my favorite 🔥 also NFL Blitz 🏈 and NBA Hangtime 🏀 made me feel like i had the latest gaming technology 😂
52:32 Star Fox 64❤❤❤ my first contact with games!! This game really make my childhood🥹😍
Anyone else just throw this on in the background while getting work done? Something about the familiar sounds, that bit crunched quality, and the varied sounds is both nostalgic and meditative.
I agree
The anti aliasing, z buffer, blurred textures, and 3D shading is really what makes an N64 game look like an N64, and I love it’s aesthetic
Thanks a lot for the feedback PunishedSonicSpeed! :-)
Limited compared to PSX? Yes. But compared to Saturn? I doubt that.
@. Yeah you're right. I had googled it a while back. However, I'll argue that N64's best games trump the Saturn's.
55:16 the accursed rings
5:43 Beetle Adventure Racing was a pretty damn good one
Have you ever played the Australian exclusive games called HSV Adventure Racing? It's the exact same game as beetle adventure racing but they did a sprite swap basically and you drive a sports car instead of a beetle. It's my favorite version of the game and it con only be played on an emulator unless you have a pal n64. It won't run on my ntsc n64 using everdrive 64. I play it in an Odroid xu4 running retropie. The Odroid xu4 is a beast when it comes to n64 emulation and blows the raspberry pi out of the water.
for real. i used to love that game and the hidden shortcuts. not alot of people knew about that game
58:03 this game is known in english as "Sin and Punishment", never got released outside JP for the N64, but it had a full english dub which made many english speakers able to play.
The game got a cult status, it's innovative gameplay and mature story for the N64 really stood out for it.
Sin and punishment was a masterpiece! 😅
Timepoints (from 0-Z) of the N64. I grew up with this console. But playing it nowadays on a TV, yeah it looks like shit sadly. Emulators make it look SOOOOO much better compared to the actual console. Which is why I prefer to play it on Retroarch compared to any other emulator for N64. And as always, your welcome.

This video highlights the need for an N64 classic
How they would make the controller affordable and get the Rare games on there I don’t care!
I want it!! X3
PRefer playing them using an emulator and my Steam controller tbh. The N64 stick was so garbage. And the Steam trackpad is by far the best for flipping the camera 180 (and any other degree) than even a second analog stick, in games like DK64 and Mario64.
Get an N64 and an EON super 64 adapter. Then you will be able to pick your own games out.
No need for an N64 classic. If you have the console already, just get an Everdrive 64/ED64 Plus cartridge. TOTALLY WORTH IT! 😎

Not going to lie this took a lot of work and I appreciate it. Its my new shopping list video haha. SUBBED
The real experience of this video is at 18:53, when after almost 20 minutes of games, some of which had _notoriously_ choppy framerates, F-Zero X hits you.
I had to double back and see if i just didn't realize all the older games were 60fps too, but NOPE.

Also, CUSTOM ROBO 💚
It's not a small library but is definitely far smaller than other consoles
Though the N64 library is good enough, I do wish stuff like Pac-Man World made it on there
Today I woke up dreaming of a game, on which we controlled a slim tall guy in a dark setting, and climbing a steep tower just walking, without difficulties. It happens that it was a mix of Reinhardt Schneider, from Castlevania 64, in one of Shadow Man's dark scenarios, climbing one of those red towers from the desert stage of Mario 64. Crazy! I love these 3 games and simply played them 3 a lot during their days...

lol thankfully most of the crap stayed in Japan for a reason lol
Oh if you think the N64 has many, goodness gracious the saturn and PS1 have T R U C K L O A D S of those. There are SO. MANY of them it's INSANE.
And America football, and soccer hahahaga
Just check the PS1 video, hahah. There are probably more mahjong/baseball games on it than the entire N64 library. xD
Thank you sir. It's been years that I tried to find some flashes of memories of games I played in my childhood.
Have not found some but found some I didn't remember like the bee battle one. The nostalgia is quite nice and now I'll find some gameplay to remember
My Nintendo 64 favorite games:
1- 28:25 best game all of time 😉
2- 54:24 😍😍😍😍😍
3- 04:24 banjo
4- 31:04 Mario kart
5- 23:15 ⚽️⚽️⚽️
6- 28:13 Zelda 👺
N64 has a short gaming library which makes it easy to collect for!
The problem is the price unfortunately
N64 was good, but sorely lacking in Mahjong games.
IT HAS SOME >_> BUT YEAH ITS LIKE 3 OR 4 DECENT GAMES XD
@@GatochanBolivia I guess you think the only good Nintendo 64 games are the ones made by Nintendo and Rare?
11:35 Epic
Thanks for the upload VGL :3-
Hey Kat, no problem :-)
Thank you for video!!
Hey Alex, no problem! :-)
Top 5 games from my childhood:
1. Mario Kart
2. 007
3. Zelda
4. Ken Griffey Jr Slugfest
5. NFL Blitz
Honorable mention: Tony Hawk , Super Smash Bros, Wave Race
To each their own and God Bless the nostalgia we all feel during this video.
Thank you for making
One of the games I used to play isn't on here but maybe I remember so little of it that I didn't see enough to recognize the gameplay. All I remember is it was sci-fi astronaut game that let you walk around on planets of the solar system.
54:23 the best Nintendo 64 game ever

28:25 il miglior gioco di sempre 😍😍😍
This is a good one buddy nice compilation of N64, after the SNES I got the PS1 due to the nature of the games on the market. My brother and I switched consoles often😁👍
This hands down the best system ever! The N64 man!!
Ok quiet thks
No
Best system is PS2.
LMAO, by what metric is considered the best?
Golden eye is the best shooting game ever made.
this is true if you stopped playing video games after 1997
@@coolman2805 I agree with you. While I absolutely loved the game and played it up and down, you have to admit it aged like milk. Hoping for a refurbished version on Steam like they did with the first two Turok games. Would love to revisit 007 with proper mouse aiming and decent view distance.
Nintendo 64: more baseball and mahjong games than you could ever wish for
the world is not enough was so underrated
Especially multiplayer zipline.
Din't mind me, I'm just gonna make a list for myself of games I want to play, here.
- 007 The World is Not Enough
- TenEighty Snowboarding
- Aero Fighters Assault (meh)
- AeroGauge
- Army Men: Air Combat
- Army Men: Sarges Heroes (+ 2)
- Asteroids Hyper 64 (for 2 minutes)
- Automobili Lamborghini
- Bomberman 64
- Banjo-Kazooie (and Tooie)
This inspired me to fire my old N64 up and play some
F-Zero X!
55:16 I'm happy Japan didn't get this one
Winback is soooooo underrated. That is a solid game, not a fan of N64 , but that might be my favorite.
Turok series, smash bro’s, Conker, banjo, diddy Kong racing, Yoshi, Wave Race, 1080, goldeneye, and more
8:58 Chameleon
10:35 Conker's bad fur day
19:36 Gex
35:03 Mystical ninja
53:50 Starshot
47:53 Did anyone know, that Robopon 64 was first release In 1999 in Japan only. I was so surprised for the game existed. But It’s to bad the game never made it in the West.
I have it on Game Boy Color. Great game with some odd robots, like the one that's a toilette
Idc what people say. BattleTanx will be my favorite N64 of all times
11 year old me and my friend used to stay up all night and play.
Winback is actually a very addictive game with a cool mix of realistic and arcade styles.
There is also a skit that will play if you leave it on the start game screen long enough, which they made easy to miss for some stupid reason.
28:23 and 54:23 are what you're looking for.

Ohh those big polygons with anti-aliased low-res textures 😍 Best console ever ❤
Nice Graphics
A small, but powerful library
THANKS BROTHER!!!!!
I'M FROM MEXICO SUBSCRIBED AND LIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wave race was also super fun and addictive.. anyone remember the vigilante games for n64 ? those were pretty awesome !
yes sir. I remember them because they are next to N64 console which is playing one of them at the moment.
@@shaun8062 hell yeah, good stuff man :-)
👍 so many great games on this amazing system
Used to play Winback wayyyy back forgot the name of it. But remeber some scene of it. Now I can finally die in peace knowing I found my childhood game!!!!!!
So many classics!
This systems had quality over quantity
my favorite list:
1. Zelda
2. Mario
3. Banjo
Me gusta la N64, gracias por el vídeo
I think you missed Taz Express lol No big loss though. Great watch.
This video highlights that n64 was shovelware, I had one and I thought it was great until I knew I had been oversold and was not delivering the games they promised. I still appreciate the good games it had, but doesn't change the fact that it's loaded with shovelware.
loaded with shovelware? most other consoles have hundreds games more of shovelware.
do you even know what shovelware is?
I totally agree. Back then - when I was a child - I did not realize how bad most games were.
It rocked slightly more irreplaceable classics than PS1 though if you count them. I own basically all the good games for both systems and enjoy them equally.
Wow, thanks a lot for this video!
Damn you really included all of them!
I loved blast corps ☢️ as a kid. Great game. 6:13
GREAT!! YOU'VE WORKED HARDLY...MANY THX!!!
Hardly means "a little", "barely" , get a dictionary
I can still remember going to Wal-Mart with my mom and immediately running to the arcade at the entrance. I would play Cruis'n USA while she shopped 😊
Man I miss the N64.
Same thats why i emulate it on my note 10 with a wireless controller
