Big risk assuming you’ll only crap your pants once! Great video, keep it up.

Enjoyed the video, but would like to make a couple of points which are possibly more pertinent to us Brits.. I would not recommend that holdall for flying, unless travelling business class or above. Even if you intended to take it as hand luggage/carry on, there is always an outside chance the airline will make you check it into the hold...This is not an infrequent occurrence when using the budget airlines out of the UK and there is *NO WAY|* I would want to see a fine leather holdall like that go through the checked luggage system as it would likely be trashed.
Secondly, if you are flying with just hand luggage/carry on, over here you would need to rethink your wash bag as you are only permitted to carry very small quantities of liquids/gels (100ml per portion) and they have to be bundled together in a clear plastic bag for inspection of Security prior to boarding.
Not sure if either if these are issues over in the States, and obviously don't apply if going by road or rail...
Other than that, with regards your packing list I would add a light dress gown and some lounge wear (shorts & t shirts) to wear around the room, and if space permits I would also squeeze in a pair of slippers as well...As you can tell I like to make myself comfortable as possible even if its only for the weekend!

    Hey man, great video 💯🤙🏽
Taking a 4 day trip to California and been trying to figure out a minimal but efficient way to pack business casual without using my bulky garment bag. This really gave some insight on a new way of packing. Thanks for making the video.

Hey Jon. Been watching your older videos again (that’s how useful they are). Noticed in one video you were raving about the Beckett Simonon weekender and in this video you are using the Carl F bag. Do you like one more than the other? look, quality, functionality wise? Keep up the hard work. 👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks for your great reviews! Have you come across a weekender you think would be wide enough for a 50R suit? Would you have any other carry-on recommendations for larger suit sizes, or are the larger check-in bags the best bet....?

Great advice! Since you weren't really able to cover any casual wear, I would also add to your roll method and army roll your t-shirts as well to maximise space. Definitely gonna look at that weekend too, it looks snazzy.

I wonder if the weight of the bag (genuine leather) and the lack of a shoulder pad will become problematic. I'm looking forward to your opinion after some time with the bag. Love the colors.

Nice overview but did you mention if you are carry any tech (tablet, headphones, charger, etc.) in the bag or in another tote?

Do you think you could try to get your hands on a Stuart and Lau weekender? and maybe their gym bag? Once I saw you're video on the briefcase I got really interested in the brand all together! Cool video btw keep it up dude.

Doesn’t the weight of the bag on your shoulder wear you down? Wouldn’t it be much better to just get a carry on with four wheels which you can pull around the airport with minimal effort?

    Cool video!
Quick question. If you only could get one suit would you get Navy or gray? I have a navy blazer, but need to get a suit next. My work is casual so I really only need one at this time. Thanks!

    • @pattgsm
      @pattgsm 6 років тому

      Matt Hogan - Medium Gray
in terms of formality most to least: Navy, Charcoal Gray, Medium Gray, Light Gray.
      1. Navy suits are the gold standard of businesses suit. Great for 1st impression /special occasion. Think business formal 1st round and of interview, 1st day in court etc..
      2. Charcoal is a great alternative for a black suit and can pull double duty (business, church, funeral).
      3. Medium Gray is the most subtle of all suits and can be worn everyday w/o anyone noticing. You've heard of becoming a gray man? It means to blend in and not stand out. This does not mean that you do not have style. Look at Charlie Cox in Netflix's Dare Devil season 1 & 2. It's all he wears and looks good.
      4. Light gray is more a spring/summer color where 1-3 are wheelhouse colors that are appropriate all year.
Start w/ these 4 colors 1st, before diving into any other colors or patterns. Solid suits in Navy or grays can be worn in rotation more often than other colors or patterns because they don't stand out. Hopes this helps👍

Great content. I used to always over pack for short trips. For a 3 day weekend trip I'd pack for a week. If only taking 1 suit and 1 pair of chinos, I think a pair of tailored athletic gear/lounge wear would also come in handy when you're off the clock.

Is that one of the performance shirts from bonobos? I recently tried thier jetsetter shirts and love them because they fit my skinny frame the best off the rack (Tailored fit, 15" collar, 34" sleeve length), but they wrinkle very easily. Was interested in their performance shirt but it's a hefty price, even with their usual 20% off discount.

Really enjoyed this video! Only trips I take for work are usually half a week long. Also excited for the bonobos performance shirt update! I'm curious about their new performance line overall.

Hi Jon, couple of brands you should try: Hook and Albert (for their awesome suit-carrying weekender) and YAthletics for silver-lined merino underwear. Might be worth comparing YAthletics to Icebreaker (as merino underwear options).

I think would be cool if you took a look at This Is Ground. Their stuff seems interesting with all the tech storage thought in. Though pricey aswell.
I am considering both This is Ground and Carl Friedrik for an upcoming bag overhaul. So a comparison ftom you would help make a desicision.
And thanks for another awesome video!

I use the Army method of rolling T’s and underwear - surprising how much space this saves, like you, I always pack one extra T, underwear and socks - which has saved my bacon on several occasions 😳

Does this 12 year old ever even go on "business trips"? Or is he just trying real hard to make it look like it? Sad.
