I have one which was gifted to me when I was ten by my dad. It is still sat next to me 20 years later as I write this. While not the 'best guitar in the world is has a classic sound and is a joy to play. Thanks for making this video! as this little gem seems to have gone unappreciated for too long.
That's so awesome! No worries, your page is great. There's not much info on these guitars anywhere. I did this video and knew it was really niche, but it's nice to have these marked in history somehow. Have you done anything similar for other guitars/play more generally?
@@appetiteforguitar Yes - brilliant job on the video - it's great to see these fantastic guitars getting some recognition after all these years. I completely lucked into mine. I was 17 or 18 at the time, and knew nothing about what made a good guitar. I only knew that it felt brilliant - being effortless to play. I haven't done anything else regarding other guitars - though I should mention that I also have a Hohner Arbour MX Series strat from the same period. These are also lovely guitars, but they are very strange as they are a shorter scale than a 'real' strat, and generally smaller in every dimension, thusly you can't fit standard parts such as trems, pickguards etc as the dimensions are all different. But man do they play well! I think they're supposed to cheap and nasty, like a Marlin Slammer (look it up!) but they play really great, and the shorter scale and lower string tension makes it easy to play. Regarding playing, yeah I still play. Been playing since 1984. I play most weeks in and around Aberdeen - though I'm originally from Shropshire. 😀
Ah, I must try those. I think Hohner did a few Les Paul and Strat types. If I see one I'll have to give it a go. Your Hohner sounds similar to mine. I just loved the look of it as a kid, had no idea about guitars and just wanted to join my mates in their band. It worked and we played local gigs for a while ha ha, but real life, job etc all sets in over time. Just recently back into guitars again, having played bass (shock, horror) in my last band just a few years ago. That's great you play live. I definitely need to get back into it. There are so many good guitars these days!
@@NotMarkKnopflerI totally forgot to ask, if you ever want to link to this video if you update your page, please do. I would be really honoured and grateful. It's a niche subject, but all this stuff is good fun for anyone interested.
The tilt adjustment is a really nice feature - I haven't played with it much on this one yet, but it's meant to replace the need to put a shim in the neck... I'll have to see if that turns out to be true!
Thanks! Well I recorded a quick backing tracking and improvised a bit. Just going with the flow. I need to look BJM up though cos I like this kind of stuff! Keep rockin' 🎸👍
I'll definitely check that out! I used a little bit of spring reverb, a good chunk of tremolo and a tiny bit of overdrive. The tele has a nice twang which did a lot of the work for me 👍
Very interesting! I love music and play my piano every day. I am a professional artist and I share my paintings and demos here. So much variety on UA-cam. Cheers on a Saturday!

At the end is that a Brian Jonestown Massacre song you’re riffing on? Nice vibe

What effects did you use by the way?
