    excellent video old school!!! only thing you forgot to let them know is to take the brake fluid cap off from under the hood...so once you push that piston in on the caliper you dnt push air back into the brake line... if you dnt take the cap off you will have to bleed the brakes after the change because 9x out of 10 you pushed air back in...and it will be very dangerous to drive under those conditions...but other than that this was a nice video... GOD bless and keep making blessings for others

    THAAAANK YOU SO MUCH!! I needed this video. You took your time, you didn’t rush. You reminded me of my pops, he was a mechanic. Passed when I was young so he never got to teach me how to do certain things on a car. I needed this video. 🙏🏼 tryna make my dad proud & do it myself like he would!! 👨🏽‍🔧

      Sorry to hear about your Dad. Its good to know you are willing to tackle car problems. keep on fighting and being independent. I teach my daughter the same to always try to fix things on her own and never wait for anyone.

    Thanks for sharing Oldskool. I learned a few new things using the silicone on the back of the pads and on the caliper housing. Knocking off the glaze on the rotor was also new to me, thanks for the update and improvement for this viewer. I did notice one thing different in regard to the brake pins which hold the caliper on and slide(slide pins). Eric the Car guy advocates to use silocone paste on the pins, I noticed you used antiseize lube. I think Eric advocated silicon because it does not affect the rubber, I do not know if antiseize affects rubber(swelling). Either way excellent demonstration of doing brakes.

    I have never seen anyone use anti-seize on brake clips, use a standard brake grease.Second, never, ever lay your brake pads face down on a driveway...….Use a torque wrench, not a sledge hammer.....

  • @haroldlovett4452
    @haroldlovett4452 3 роки тому

    • @Eyes0penNoFear

      Rotors generally only need to be changed if there's grooves worn into them, or they're warped and make your car vibrate when applying brakes.

    Those new pads don’t look a whole lot better than the old pads. Don’t see a lot of material there. Otherwise really good video with emphasis on safety. Also good tips on adding lube / antisieze to the clips as these are sometimes hard to get out when they have corroded to the bracket.

    should I open a bleed valve before I push the piston back

    • @oldgamerconsolepcplayerdud4389
      @oldgamerconsolepcplayerdud4389 8 років тому +2

      No, but make sure your brake fluid filler cap is off, the master cylender. This will allow no backpressure on your caliper as you push the piston back in. If you open the bleeder valve, you will take a chance of letting air into your brake lines, and then you will have to do a complete brake line bleeding procedure.
