That S&S snake works great for smoking briskets for 10 or more hours. When you wrap, push all the remaining coals to one side and fill the basket back up. Then the snake will burn back the other way to finish the cook!
@@BbqMikeG C'mon Mike. I know there's at least one more thing you can think of to do with a broken charcoal chimney. Don't give up on us so soon! The WWBBQMGMWABCC Club is counting on you for season 2!
Hey man! Great content learned alot! Just got my self a 14 unch weber and it has no water pan. Do you have any suggestions with out buying one. Say use a foil pan? Or any metal pot?
Perhaps a 5-quart stainless-steel mixing bowl with a top diameter of 11 3/4 inches could fit in there. You can drill 3 holes at the top of the bowl use hooks to attach the bowl to the lower cooking grate. That way you don't void your warranty by drilling holes in the smoker. Make sure not to use galvanized hooks. Webstaurant.com sells them for $19.15, but you may find a cheaper 12" bowl at Smart & Final or elsewhere. This would be good for heat deflection, but if all you want is moisture you could just spray the meat with water instead. Have fun with it!
@@BbqMikeG I ended up just using a cake pan with foil for easy cleaning! Sadly took up my second rack luckily I only needed one for the smoked turkey with apple wood! Turned out amazing! Will look into your idea thank you very much for the response!
Yep. Totally unnecessary for the mini chimney, but the snake rig for the S&S is something I use every week and I’d make another one if I lost it. I’m a fan of using the burn rate of charcoal to control temperature. The dampers work too but that wide part of the S&S basket creates a spike in temp that the dampers must deal with.
Great idea on the snake insert! Keeps the volume of burning charcoal constant. Less temperature management. Man, I’m gonna do that.
I use that S&S snake weekly. It’s my favorite contraption I’ve made so far!
great move Mike G. never thought this was possible.
Well, sometimes you’re looking around the backyard while your cooking and you get some ideas! Thanks for watching it!

@@donnytaylor7039 Well, there is one more thing to make. A lighter cube cage to start a minion method cook with. It just might work. 🤔
This is genius.
