@@enricopaolocoronado2511 I mean this is Fromsoftware, they really like Giant Boss Fights
Have you SEEN how massive Motherwill was? They are like 200x larger than a Armored Core, the most common size AC are like around 7 Meter(Mostly in 5th Gen), 10 Meter(3rd, some NEXT, and 6th Gen), and the Tallest are 15 Meter Tall NEXT's
In comparison to Suits from Gundam, the average AC's are smaller than Ball
HOWEVER, the average speed of AC's hilariously enough are over 400+km/hour while most Gundams top at like 300 km/hour
And NEXT gets more ridicilous with going beyond 1000 km/hour

@@RenoKyrie True. Although, I did see the model kit that comes with the ACVI preorder which comes in at 19cm. Assuming it's still at the 1/72 scale, it's around 13.68 meters tall, on the taller side of Armored Cores.
But yeah, that feeling of fighting a massive fortress with just a (relatively) tiny Mech makes it all the more badass. And considering some of the gameplay trailers for VI, I wouldn't be surprised if we fought some of those massive machines shown in those trailers, especially that worm like machine.

None of those had butchered customization and 4 (FOUR) stats max in garage. None of those had that "infamous" turning animation, probably making picking your legs meaningless, and in terms of hardlock, sure it was in 4, but as soon as you got behind and enemy, it was disabled. You had to turn manually. It's absurdly loaded with quality of life things, that much its balancing on game is actually casualized, not filled with quality of life things. Armored Core was always somehow a struggle to control, that you have to master controls to be a good pilot, not hard lock, dash forward and kill with two melee slices.
      You've never played this series.

    • @Mobius-ow7id
      @Mobius-ow7id Рік тому +4

I couldn’t have agreed more. I myself am long time fan of the series and what you said is exactly what makes AC what it is. All of these new features where taken from the older games and mixed together with FromSoft’s universal mechanics to give you sample of what’s to come. I hope we can get a demo soon so old fans and newcomers can see for themselves the difference and stop bickering.

    • @serraramayfield9230
      @serraramayfield9230 Рік тому +10

      @@ubi5555
Okay, well you clearly didn't pay attention to the latest trailer.
The lack of stats is a simplified view which still retains the hidden (extensive) stats page, as seen with the button prompts on the bottom edge of the screen. This has been a thing since literally AC1.
Turning speeds still have meaningful differences, and hardlock itself is an OPTIONAL mechanic.
Multiple types of FCS have already been confirmed to exist.
QoL features do not themselves make a game "casualized", it is what the rest of the game does in response to those features.
The older games did have legitimately bad game design decisions which simply wouldn't fly in the modern day.
"You're never played this series". I have, and as a child I watched plenty of people play them.
If FromSoftware - the company which created BOTH of these franchises - does not define AC6 as a Soulslike, then *it's not a fucking Soulslike*.
Can't wait for this game to reach and surpass Last Raven in terms of cruelty, just to show that all of these features are a perfect excuse to massively raise the skill ceiling far above the rest of the series.

I'm worried because when you show something, in terms of marketing for a game, usually you show what you did the very best, the cream of your product and how its shining. Now we have been witnessed with a fucking Armored Core without a HUD, 4 stats, hard lock on with quick turning, "estus flasks", staggers mechanic and NO MUSIC FROM FREQUENCY whatsoever. It's pretty normal to be worried, for a fan of the series. I hope we all be drowning in a fun mecha game as Ravens when it will come out.

From what I see it's mostly about how some feel that the hard lock and repair kits will make the combat too easy, and the the checkpoint thing will make design strategy pointless.
Tbh though, I think the context of the game itself matters a lot. If you added these features to say... armored core 3? Or 5? yeah, it would probably ruin the balance. But this game isn't those games, and we have very little context on how long missions will be or what sorts of objectives we'll have.
I think a lot of them were just hoping for, and are expecting a shiny, nice looking version of the older games instead of something that takes that foundation and builds on it, evolving. Fromsoft has done a lot to earn trust from it's fanbase, and while it's been a bit devisive at times, I have faith they'll produce a satisfying experience.
Let them finish the soup before you decide if you like it.

      @VaulickTheCrow  Рік тому +5

So I was right. Everything that comes from Fromsoft will now be called a "Souls" game.
So is everything from Nintendo a "Mario" game? They share quite a few directors and engines. Miyamoto certainly had a hand in directing just about every main series from the company.
The Havok engine is also shared by a vast quantity of games, that's not exactly proof. Engines are highly customizable, they are only the bedrock the game runs on so to speak. It's not some plug and play you immediately pick up and all games that come from it are immediately the same.
I get your overall point, but I don't see it as compelling evidence.

1:13 All of these would actually be so cool to have tbh, acfa basically had leveling with the tuning, which was awesome, bloodstains to get your money back for the repairs after you died would be cool af too, they could have your previous ac all rusted, and when you get to it you get that money back, and reinforced weapons with updade materials would just add more depth to the game, imagine if the reason there are only two stats for weapons is because you have to alter your weapons damage type with some kind of material, like how there's lightning, magic, and fire damage in souls, they have like radiation which could he like poison adding a status effect, or heat could be added this way, heat dealing more stagger damage but less actual damage to ap, I guess i-frames would be the only thing out of place, but the other three would actually be pretty awesome. The only extra thing I could want is the destructible environment from ac4 and acfa.

My only issue going forward is whenever or not the gameplay feels like I'm piloting a mech or playing as the mech.
It doesn't sound like much but in practice it's very fulfilling to experience when it's the former. The issue I feel is the game might take the reins on a bunch of things automatically which allows your mech to respond intuitively on its own as you were probably going to anyway, all the way up to advanced stuff like boost turning, which leans closer to the latter.
Like it's the difference of *doing* it and just doing it on autopilot. I don't know how to articulate it better, so I hope that makes sense.

So first off - I said this in another video: The Hard Lock-On is something I don't like. Sure, I could do without repair kits and some more Co-Op action, but so far? Nothing seems 'Souls' like in this game. Armored Core has always been the grueling lone Mecha vs an Army Sized array of enemies being thrown your way for the sake of stopping your mission. That said, I'm hating how these people are complaining about it being a 'Souls-like' now. Stamina Gauge? Boosting has always been the means to get you from areas with precise platforming rather than 'running or dodging'. Dodge Mechanic? Bro, Quick Boosting was in AC4. Back in the old days, you had to MANUALLY dodge with boosting. 'Missiles are MAGIC'. ...S'cuse you? I'd like to see any spell carry the same weight as a 440m Grenade Launcher being shoved up your arse. Even then, this game is refined in combat, it has AC4's speed, AC3's fine tuning of weapons, and AC2's snapping of controls. AC5's Kicking Mechanic also is here, so everyone gets what they like. Hard lock and repair kits aside? I'm fine with the new Laser Blade Combo System and such. We also don't know if we can't Dual Blade yet - we'll find out soon enough. Don't lose hope my fellow Blade User. The days will return when we can bum rush our foes and cut them to ribbons once again!

The one funny thing I've seen "fans" complain about is how the apparent movement of 6th Gen ACs being too "human-like."
Because apparently none of these bozos bothered reading up the lore of stuff like Human-PLUS, OP-INTENSIFY, and the Allegorical Manipulation System from 1st-2nd, 3rd, and 4th Gen, respectively. That, and I'm fairly certain that a *bipedal, humanoid* war machine from an advanced spacefaring civilization run by megacorporations can have a near 1:1 ratio of pilot to AC movement.
Same with the supposed aiming and how it "takes away the need to get good in your skills." Because apparently an advanced war machine hailing from the far flung grimdark future must still use WW1-era aiming systems. Didn't realize the Warhammer 40K chuds are trying to insert their "superior" Imperial War Titan Legions knowledge here, now that I think about it.
For legal reasons, this is a joke. Don't pull an Australia Human Rights Commission and take me to court.

Looking down And setting stuff up on the screens feels as natural as giving a quick glance to your phone notifications, not to mention that fighter jets don't really require much of that when in action. Really, they control way closer to a videogame jet than the stereotypical pilot flipping a bunch of switches trope, or even an IRL car.
In short, to me it sounds more like people really liked their clunky controls and are being boomers about it.

the reason why the hard camera lock-on is so massive and cannot be understated is because in every single AC entry besides, like, formula front where you don't have to play, you were required to aquire targets by aiming at them and locking them up, if you couldnt keep up with them, you could lose visual and they could end up behind you in an advantageous position. It is much more souls than armored core they removed:
    - Extensions
    - Optional Parts
    - Internal parts
    - Weapon arms
    - Various stats (RIP the head's use)
    - Turn speed (It was necessary to balance tank legs)
    - aiming boxes (necessary to allow stuff like flanking & dodging attacks, auto lock on ruins the game)
    - Most mission expenses
    - Fail-able missions (ie they aren't supposed to come back)
& they added souls inspired junk or ruined things:
    - Homogenized parts (No reason to not just use tank legs)
    - sekiro stagger bar (no reason to change build all that much since stagger is such a big factor)
    - Patterned bossed (with healthpools so large that if you aren't using stagger builds you can't even play the game; rip creative freedom)
    - Added heals
    - Added lockon button akin to DS lockon
    - Added punch without weapons
    - Added checkpoints / garage before bosses / retrying
    - Dodge button
While I would've been fine with the additions if they didn't corrupt the AC gameplay the sad fact is the game is more MechaSouls than it is Armored Core, there is none of the core gameplay elements you could find in something like AC3, AC3 Silent Line, & AC3 Last Raven, & immersion & gameplay is ruined.
It can still be called a fun game but I'd hesitate to call AC6 a proper Armored Core as it fits mecha souls better.
It is by no means the genre tag "souls-like" but it is the most souls like AC game to date, it hardly resembles Armored Core.

    • @VaulickTheCrow
      @VaulickTheCrow  Рік тому +2

Having S ranked every mission in the game, I gotta disagree with a few of your points.
Viable build diversity is still pretty damn high, I've crafted a myriad of mechs without even having touched tank legs yet. Personal favorite being the reverse joints. Leg choice feels more impactful than it ever did.
Fail-able missions look great on paper, until you realize it's just a reload and retry-fest. Unfortunately the same for mission expenses. I think they should have been re-worked (essentially just use the constant auto-save present in the Souls games to prevent any cheese), but hey what are you doing to do.
I do dislike some of the overall streamlining of stats and I do miss weapon arms. Hopefully they'll eventually make a comeback.
Stagger was always present in all AC games, though not to this level of course. We just have the bar now. This feels a lot more manageable compared to older titles where you could get effectively stun-locked by constant weapon fire.
"Dodge button" has been with us since quick boosts became a thing, it's not new to AC by a longshot.
Turn speed went out the window in relevance when boosting became much more omni-present. From 4 on you pretty much had to quick turn everything.
No reason the AC can't punch when you don't have a weapon. Should have been able to do that earlier honestly.
I'm on the fence for hard lock. I basically never used it the entire game. I've also found it pretty easy to mess with other people using it. I think the game is actually easier if you learn to not use it, which I believe was the intent. If that was the intent though, they probably should have just ditched it to begin with.
The heals really don't matter when you match up actual AP values from prior games. You end up with essentially the same AP values, the difference being now that if you aren't careful you can get own-zoned before you can use a repair kit. If anything this change made the game more difficult.
I really enjoyed the bosses, it was nice to see that ACs were not the end all be all of combat devices in the universe. You could also circumvent their "patterned" nature by weaving in and out of attacks and outmaneuvering. So while they did have some patterned attacks, it felt much better than just battling a shitload of ACs for every single hard mission.
In all the prior games as well, you could just strap on some massive grenade launchers and effectively cheese the entire game like you can in AC 6 with tank treads. That's basically always been true. Branch out if you want to have a bit more fun.
I don't care about retrying before a boss or at a midpoint, it really just takes out the tedium. You also can't use it if you're going for S-ranks.
Now I do miss the radar gameplay versus the scans, I miss double blading, I miss having flares to get rid of missiles, I miss needing to quick turn... etc, etc.
But all in all, it still feels very Armored Core to me, just a natural evolution. I say that having played just about all of them. It's just a lot cleaner and a lot of the "clunk" is gone.
This a great template that they can use to rebuild the series, and eventually add some of the complexity back in now that they know the series will sell.
We're also comparing apples to oranges here. Comparing this to AC3 is a fool's errand. A lot of choices they made with early Armored Core titles was just straight up due to the weaker technology and lack of advancements in gaming conventions they had to deal with. I think even if you had that same team, with today's technology and conventions, you'd have a very, very different game.
So, I gotta say I heartily disagree. It's not just Mechasouls to me. It's a proper Armored Core, where I both feel like the pilot AND the mech this time around. Like any suitably advanced technology would eventually warrant. I mean, you aren't piloting some clunky tank thing.

@@VaulickTheCrow While some good points I got to say I missed things.
While yes enemies could be cheesed in the old games they were by no mean the only option or practically require to beat an enemy, I would challenge you to run through the game without any stagger-oriented equipment so you can realize just how reliant the game is on it for stuff like bosses & their absurd health pools that might as well make each boss fight feel like Slave Knight Gale with guns.
They also made it that you can replay missions (or so I am told) which used to be an end game feature again ruining the scarcity of credits & ruining the incentive to run energy based or low cost equipment to rake in more money.
Music is by far the worst in the series with even the generations I didn't like having better tracks (IE AC6 only has like 3 good tracks and the rest might as well be whitenoise / background noise).
Missions also from what I have seen thus far seem far more of a run past the minions to get to the boss kind of mission setup than actually having any interesting non-boss enemies, or objectives at least from what I have seen thus far.
"We're also comparing apples to oranges here. Comparing this to AC3 is a fool's errand." And exactly why quite a few fans are unsatisfied with the latest "Armored Core" which I feel ought to just call itself something else at this point, because it forsakes so much of the style & gameplay of everything that led up to it in favor of its "more profitable" siblings in soulsbornekiroring.
All I am saying is that there is a significant enough difference in gameplay between AC gens 1-3 & AC Gen ~4-6 that it might as well be a different franchise at this point. If this is really where they want to move Armored Core I get the message & I am moving on to other pastures, but if they are trying at all to accommodate old fans the lack of depth in customization & the bastardization of the series in purposefully dragging in Soulsbornekiroring mechanics for the purpose of pleasing the other fanbase does not paint the game in a desirable light imo.
I could have forgiven it had it been a spin-off but for them to advertise the game as being a return to form & for the old fans it disappoints.
I wouldn't mind innovation but AC1-3 might as well be a different series from AC 4-6 with how things are handled.
I just wish & hope they'd be willing to remaster the old games if they aren't willing to give us a new entry that honors the old games styles.

MechWarrior is a nice opposite in terms of flow when you compare it to armored core... I miss Lost planet 2 Co-op with friends supporting each other

I'm firmly against calling it a soulslike as people have used the term to describe elements that has pre-existed in the Armored Core series and gaming as a whole before boxing them into a souls sphere if it is used in future games. I have to wonder if people would be calling the VD boss in a random desert inspired by radahn or something if release times had placed VD at peak souls series popularity.
I remember the original IGN interview where they said they wouldn't be moving toward souls series gameplay, but under people's current understanding of what soulslike means and claims in videos, wouldn't that mean they already contradicted themselves in the very same interview by talking about stagger and repair kits? The obvious answer is that the interviewees didn't see this as a souls derived element.
Note that does even containing these elements mean that using these "souls elements" = like souls = soulslike? Or does one use a more purist interpretation where "soulslike" designates a difficult slow methodical ARPG with a stamina system where you find a variety of items over a large map and use a bonfire checkpoint system? How does the public interpret this if they see a headline claiming this is a soulslike? What expectation does the average player who has never heard of Armored Core carry when they hear this?
I lean toward them imagining it's more of the latter instead of having a more componently influenced based form considering the amount of people I've seen expecting you to be piloting a scavenger based robot to actually be Elden Core when the original trailer hit.

There was quite a few complaints from the older generation of Zelda players that BoTW and ToTK stray too far from the original though. People have made comparisons between Souls and Zelda.
I'm also a part of that old generation for Zelda players, and while I miss some aspects of the old design, the new design scratches a completely new itch. It's also less a departure from the very original Legend of Zelda for the NES, but not many people have played that.
These videos pop up as disputation to an ongoing conversation that's already happening.
Implying that these videos are "proof" that something is wrong, given their reaction based nature, is saying that the fact that anyone is complaining at all is proof and the proof is that people are complaining. That circular logic, dawg.

Can anyone say "strawman?"....no one said they 'look' the same. Let me simplify it. It would be like taking an FPS game and making it into a third person shooter. How royally pissed would they have a right to be if that happened. By changing the turning speeds, camera being free, and the lock on, it changes the meta to a totally different engine experience 'likening it' to Souls (as that is FROM's closest titles to this). But, you could liken it to any other engine in that family/species. The strawmen being presented are getting annoying.

@@VaulickTheCrow After your "jackassing around" at the point where you got 'serious' as it were, you went into the discussion about how these videos look different (and that the proposition that they look similar is ridiculous). No getting around it, you entertained the argument as if it were an actual serious argument on the table. Maybe, who knows, some dumb ass somewhere, might have actually tried to say that AC6 would "look similar." But in the list of arguments we should take seriously, the fact that you picked that one, IS you attacking a strawman.
Even if we apply charity to what you are saying, and say "well, what does a Soulslike game" mean?, and attack the endless ambiguity of that question (as you've done rather well), it 'obviously' (in light of the facts) ignores the real argument being made. Maybe before the game was released, where it was speculative in what ways there might be overlap, the concerns would run wild. But it is confirmed that it departs from AC in a way that is radically different engine-wise, which strikes to the very core of Armored Core players values e.g. a big reason they even play the game, the culture that surrounds that, the values....funny, you didn't address that....I wonder why?

    • @VaulickTheCrow
      @VaulickTheCrow  Рік тому +2

@@ex0gen I didn't address it for the simple reason that while I have played and enjoyed the older titles, somewhat extensively. I was never really a part of the AC "community". So I can't speak to their values or concerns. Especially as that community has become insanely niche and borderline insular over the lack of consistent releases. People like things they are familiar with, and the AC elitists are VERY familiar with the older titles now. Without a regular injection of new blood every once in a while, any change that wasn't literally Verdict Day Part 2 would have resulted in an uproar just due to stagnation.
The entire point of this video, is to make light of a debate that is being taken too seriously. It's a video game, and at the end of the day, Fromsoft has the final say on what is and what isn't Armored Core. Furthermore, I trust them with that decision. We may play it, but they fucking MADE it.
Most AC games are vastly different from one another, this one will be no different. I think the immutable essence of AC will remain intact, despite the pain of raising a series from the grave. Or would you had rather it stay dead instead of taking the risk of some innovations?
There are also only straw men to attack. People are being ridiculous. We're living completely in the land of speculation, nothing is "confirmed". Until we get the game in our hands, none of us knows how it will turn out. You can speculate negatively or positively, but there is no reason for a group of adults to be THIS upset over all this speculation. Misgivings? Sure, but the gameplay reveal has generated some real vitriol.
You want to be upset when the game releases? Sure. Or hell, don't support it. Just don't buy the game. A heavily stripped down gameplay trailer does not equal a release. The game is already made though, these last 2 months will just be them cleaning up what's already there.
Also, I wasn't just pointing to aesthetics in regards to them "looking similar". But even the moment to moment gameplay. The undercurrent of the argument has been that Armored Core is getting ripped apart and replaced with basically all Souls mechanics. That literally IS the argument coming from most who oppose.
Regardless, while it is nice debating with someone who is actually trying to stick to the points (I read and respond through a lot of comments, it's rarer than you would really think), I do genuinely have other stuff to do.
Nice talking to you, hopefully we both end up getting what we want out of this game.

    • @ex0gen
      @ex0gen Рік тому +2

@@VaulickTheCrow I will try to be concise.
      1. The "community" isn't entirely the point here, even though it was mentioned, in regards to the issue of 'values.' Without going into too much detail on that, just to retort, one might be an isolated AC player, but still share in those "values", given that they are linked to how the game has been designed since the beginning, an din every iteration since. Framing it as "elite" or "purist" is a deflectionary, by attempting to deflate the importance of the issue. The importance of the issue is 'as understandable' as an FPS being switched to a third person shooter - there is no way to counter that argument. It's a radical engine shift, so fans of the series not wanting it isn't somehow a case of obstinance or elitism or w/e. The size of the market is irrelevant to that, and both kinds of game engines have been around for decades (invalidating the argument that this is about progress of improvements in technology).
      2. The argument from speculation is a red herring. We are not talking about what we don't know. We are talking about what we do know. The fact that there is a strong auto-aim has been confirmed (have you seen the actual press release that just came out in follow up?). And the turning speeds were evidenced from the gameplay, as was the independent camera movement. That's definitive, we don't need to speculate on what has been falsified already.
I understand you have other stuff to do. But your points are fallacious.
      3. Bottom line: Everyone is entitled to their preferences. No one ever disagreed about that. The side that calls us "babies, elites, purists, unwilling to change" etc, IS build on fallacious and misrepresents what is being said. Misrepresentation and a lack of charity is ALWAYS a sign of malicious intent. For contrast, this would have been squashed if the response was "we get it, its like if the Call of Duty game engine became Monster Hunter game engine" of course you would be displeased. No one has to buy it. Right! But, the idea that people ought to shut up and not voice thier displeasure when they've waited so long for a title and supported the series literally since FROM was a dipshit company, is frankly insulting. If you can't see that, you ARE the one causing the strife here. Period.

There's not only Action game DNA in that AC6 gameplay, but also some Japanese Arcadeness in the movements, if you ever played any Action Arcade game before then you probably noticed it in the melee attacks! and still, STILL there's WEIGHT in everything which is what was missing from DxM way back and made that hella boring to play for me.
