HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR HUSBAND NIKKI 🎂🥳🎉 ⚡️METALLICA⚡️TOTALLY AWESOME!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE METALLICA'S BLACK ALBUM, MY FAVORITE!! I USED TO LIVE IN A NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE METALLICA USED TO PRACTICE IN A GARAGE. AWESOME PERFORMANCE AWESOME REACTION NIKKI!! I WONDERED IF ANY OF SEATTLE BANDS WERE THERE. THANK YOU FOR SHARING AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR HUSBAND!! 🎉
Looking back, it's amazing how any of them could function to even play. James was starting to completely withdraw from his family and drink heavily again. He started to bloat from it. He'd go on to infamously miss a show because of a back injury sometime after this as a fan bear-hugged him at a meet and greet and hurt his back AND miss his son's first birthday so he could go bear hunting in Russia and drink the whole trip. He would have a sort of similar thing happen later down the line when a woman was stalking him and coming to meet and greets claiming he'd slept with her and she was really his wife. It caused him to stop doing them altogether. Jason was already deciding his fate and on his way out. He had a severe painkiller addiction due to shoulder and neck problems he never took time to get fixed, so he was living on them to be able to play shows. Was also almost done with his side project Echobrain's demos and started handing them out in secret to Lars and management and other friends by this point and management for Metallica had offered them a contract and all. He'd end up informing the band he was leaving on "Cliff's Day" when they shot the "Classic Albums: the Black ALbum" DVD when Hetfield told him if he went ahead with the Echobrain side project, "other arrangements could be made." Meaning he'd be kicked out and replaced. their mtv video music awards performance of Fade to Black would be his last ever with Metallica until the 30th Anniversary shows. Lars was running on cocaine fumes every night and had been since the mid 80's. Within a few years, he'd learn his wife at the time, who was an actress, had done a small part in Good WIll Hunting and cheated on him with Matt Damon while Metallica was out on tour that same year. Kirk was just trying to keep the band together after beating a severe video game addiction and having to re-learn how to play guitar and all the Metallica songs, so was was on fire on this "tour" which was effectively festival dates and the 2 other S&M shows in NYC and Berlin Germany.
Happy Birthday to your husband Nikki. Boogers just wanted to give his birthday wishes on camera. 😼🎂 First listened to them in the 80's ,first saw them in '92 on the Black album. Battery is great live and in person. Yeah, they got a workout, they would play 3+ hour show back the. And speaking of birthday's , Pau from The Warning turns 23 on Wed, Dany just turned 25 this past Thurs.
If u listen to the Metallica demo from 1982, 'No life til leather'... James Hetfield was not the strongest vocalist and it was bassist Cliff Burton who helped him w/ learn about melody while singing, which is why his performance on "Kill 'em all" in 1983 was better... He would belt out his vocals and I think they would double his vocal tracks on Metallica's studio albums in the 80's. The turning point was definitely the 'black' album in 1991... James had to take lessons to maintain his voice, given that he drank heavily and smoked (NOT a healthy regimen for vocal chords) and he did say that during that tour, his voice blew out at the beginning of a Metallica concert and bassist Jason Newsted had to help out vocally that night... It also didn't help that Metallica spent 1991 to 1994 on tour without any breaks... The drinking and touring likely took a toll on his vocals. Listening to the 'Load' and 'Reload' albums, there wasn't much 'doubling' his vocals, so u got a raw performance of James Hetfield's vocals... Metallica also toned down their metal sound and if u watch the 'Cunning Stunts' concert video (filmed in 1997)... Hetfield sang in a different manner in contrast to the previous live concerts filmed in 1989 and 1992 for the 'Live s+++: Binge & Purge" boxed set. U can also watch the 'S&M' concert from 1999 and Hetfield is howling, rather than belting his vocals live. When they recorded 'St. Anger' (released in 2003), Hetfield's vocal performance was awful on that record... They wanted to go for a raw, punk delivery but it didn't work at all... They did better on the 'Death Magnetic' album in 2008 but Hetfield was getting older and his voice was not holding up given Metallica's hectic touring schedule. It happens... Geoff Tate of Queensryche also seemed to struggle singing early songs by the band between 2003 and 2012 before he was fired... Tom Araya (vocals & bass) of Slayer seemed to get better vocally w/ age, which was mind-boggling. The 'S&M 2' album and the new record '72 Seasons'... Hetfield just does not have the power that he once had vocally... Sad, but that's how it sometimes goes... I often say that John Bush (vocalist of Armored Saint... also formerly of Anthrax, who was once asked to join Metallica) would be a good choice to bring into Metallica's live performances now and they should have James Hetfield playing guitar and backing vocals only.
Not my favourite Metallica song, first track off Master of Puppets if I’m not mistaken. It’s a bit too intense for me, I’m probably on my own about that but hey, we’re not all the same are we? They were on the verge of getting tired at this stage, the bassist left shortly after this. Happy birthday to him indoors what a nice treat to get this played for him! 😊
Saw Metallica live at the monsters of rock festival, castle Donington, England in 1987.. the sound was not great as the PA system was prone to interference from airplanes landing and taking off from the nearby airport
I was wondering why his vocals sounded strange in this, the grit in his voice was missing, it was more spoken word...I'm sure James "3 balls" Hetfield could hit those highs needed for Seek And Destroy if he performed it riding a unicycle 😅
This was the last tour w/ bassist Jason Newsted, who left Metallica in early 2001... unhappy w/ the state of the band and his role in Metallica... James Hetfield's vocals were getting weaker by this point, in all honesty.... 'Battery' was the opening track to their 1986 album "Master of Puppets'... they still play it live quite often.

Was grand opening of the Experience Music Project if I remember correctly.

Ethel Cain -“Preacher’s Daughter” full album reaction please 🙂
Wait a line jumper? Not fair! (Extreme sarcasm) It wouldn't be fair if you didn't put his first.
Plus your husband has great taste in music.
