  • In this video, I examine the themes explored in the 2019 French animated film “I lost my body”. The movie explores the archetype of the orphan in our modern day context in a meaningful and impactful way. I discuss the symbolism of the fly, the hand, and Naoufel’s recording device. I also discuss the importance of his relationship with Gabrielle and how taking on the apprenticeship helps him take the first steps in his own healing journey. The movie can teach us how to reconnect with our own orphaned parts in order to heal from our past traumas.
    Time codes:
    0:00 - Introduction
3:06 - The Archetype of the Orphan
    6:21 - Naoufel: A modern Orphan Archetype
11:22 - The fly: Destiny, fate and the human condition
20:39 - The hand: A quest for wholeness
24:50 - Gabrielle and the Apprenticeship
    32:15 - The recording device
38:48 - Concluding remarks: Undertaking my own journey

Very glad I found your channel as I just recently pondered this same topic. Although I haven't checked out your other videos yet, I'd still like to add voice to a piece of my mind, which hopefully you take as points of improvement. First off, there aren't any absolute ups and downs in this video. Your tonality by itself is not an issue but the lack of some basic theatrics definitely points out an unpleasant sense of boredom which usually accompanies these mental topics. If you didn't segment the narrative into several acts pre-production, you definitely should. And please for the love of god utilize pauses. I can see some attempts at this and props to you for it, do way more of them and form your narrative in a way that these can be impactful. Lots of potential, keep it up!
