  • Braid loc Update! It's been 2 years since I have started my locs with braids! I thought I would share 10 things that I have experienced since starting my journey. If you are thinking about starting locs, you should follow my journey by subscribing!
    Also, if you notice that I am blinking a lot it's because I was wearing contacts and my eyes were kind of dry. I didn't want to freak anyone out with that. And... for clarification, at the end when I talk about my "natural hair" I am talking about my hair being "loose natural". lol.
    Thank you for watching!

    This makes me feel better I’m ready to cut mines off because of thinning locs but this gave me hope... your locs look beautiful by the way

    • @christyeverblooming
      @christyeverblooming  3 роки тому

      I completely understand. Yeah, give them a little more time and be careful not to put your hair in styles that can cause extra tension like pony tails. :). I am finding that my ponytails have also contributed to some thinning.

I was concerned with a loc or two thinning recently, but good to know it just happens that way sometimes. I’m only two months in but I really really love them 😂 ❤️

      Hey!!!! I am sooo glad you started!!! and I am glad that you are loving them :) Yeah, give them some time to do their thang for a bit, and also try not to style your hair in pony tails. I believe the elastic band tension also leads to thinning.

    Hey, my locs don't like oil and water like that too. Try making your own flaxseed gel; It's a great moisturizer for me. When I make it, I add a little hemp seed oil or avocado oil. These are the only 2 oil my hair will somewhat accept, and it works well with the flaxseeds. I just boil flaxseeds in distilled water (the longer you boil, the thicker and better hold you will get it used if you use it styling too) and then add a squirt of hemp or avocado oil. Then I freeze it (stay fresh without adding anything to it). I pop a cube or 2 out, stick it in a snack size baggy, and then stick it in a warm or hot cup of water; it thaws out in a matter of minutes. I rub on my wet or just spritzed scalp and new growth and Wala! My hair and scalp are both soft and moist. I like flaxseed gel because it doesn't build up like condish and when I shampoo, it comes out. I love your braid locs! I have traditional locs and I am in the process of combing them out and getting braid locs installed! Thank you for the videos!

    Your hair is beautiful and matches your personality. I’m very new to this braidloc journey and trying to figure things out. I wanted to see if you use real aloe (substance from the plant itself) or you use aloe water/juice and mix it with the water? Thanks in advance.

    I’m thinking of starting my loc journey again but with braids this time. I tried twists before but they would bunch up as they formed and I would loose a lot of length. I’m hoping with braids that won’t happen.

    • @christyeverblooming
      @christyeverblooming  3 роки тому

      Same! You should try using aloe vera if you haven't already. I feel like it helps it to feel a little softer for a few hours. lol >_< I also feel like my hair is always dry as well, but maybe it's just my texture. Dry and crunchy lol. It's been like this my whole life, so I think that it may just be my texture.lol haha

      If you are using oils, It’s probably irritating your scalp. There is too many of us with the same problem complaining about this problem. It couldn’t be just a coincidence 🤷🏾‍♀️

    I just started my journey 2 months now, my only issue is my hair is short and I feel like it doesn't look good 😒
    So I decreased in size on the front, however I got a bit of length!! I'm still loving it though!
    I use aloe vera water and Indian hemp oil.
    Less is more sis! Lol

    • @christyeverblooming

      oh no! When I wasn't completely feeling my hair I would throw on a wig to change it up. The loc journey can be a little tough at times, but it forces you to focus on loving yourself totally and remind yourself that the negative thoughts are lies. The fact that you have hair that grows is beautiful, and so are you! :)

    Your locs is so beautiful and congratulations on two years. I was thinking and still research about braidlocs or interlocking. Since I had starter with comb coil twist last week seen not work for me. Because some of them are too loose and soft already and dry fast. I did retwist to two strand still same and some oil to keep moisture. I think I should start over with braidlock or interlocking?

    • @christyeverblooming
      @christyeverblooming  3 роки тому

      Thank you so much!I think you may have to give it more time. You may come across the same things with braids or interlocks because it may just be your hair texture doing its 'thang'. I can't say what would be best for you, but I do believe you need to at least give yourself a few months to see any changes and to try different moisturizing methods to find out what works best for your hair. It will take a little trial and error, but with time you'll begin to learn what doesn't work and that makes you a step closer to figuring out what will work. :) Also, at the end of the day, do what you feel will be best for you. If you think you'll be satisfied with starting your locs a different way, go for it! :) and if you don't like that, then try another way that makes you happiest :)

      I actually did not because of the way my texture is set up, I did not really need to. lol. I wasn't concerned about my braids unraveling because I have coarse hair. I did have a few smaller braids unravel in the front of my head (around the hairline/baby hairs), but I wasn't concerned because I could easily rebraid them. :)
