@@GODsGirl1468 I mix the butter and sugar together first then add the other as she does but I don't use the apple cider vinegar in the recipe . ❤

I just want to say that you are a special woman. The way you are caring for those kittens. They are beautiful and have such interesting markings.

Looks great! When I was younger and learning how to make pound cakes, I made a very similar recipe. It also stuck badly and fell apart, lol. Luckily, I had some cooked pudding mix. I made an emergency trip to the store for some fresh strawberries and some whipped cream. I had a very pretty glass truffle bowl, so I spread a little strawberry jam on the sides, broke up my attempted pound cake and pressed it up the sides and into the bottom. Then I cut up and lightly sweetened the fresh strawberries and added them. I made up the pudding and poured it over the top and I topped it with whipped cream and invited a few people over. They thought that I had made it up that way on purpose. I figured what they don't know, lol! Your cake looks SO yummy! I may just have to try it. :)

For mother's fabulous pound cakes, we were taught to use Swans Down cake flour and a full pound/4sticks of butter.
To kill the nasty egg taste, only one egg at a time was thoroughly beaten into the batter and one full Tablespoon of vanilla extract was used. The finished batter was nearly white. No vinegar to kill the sweetness.
Some of us poured thick, dark, homemade hot fudge sauce over our cake slices. That was an expensive specialty served by only one upscale tea room in our huge city.

Fabulous! I made this cake following your instructions using 6 large eggs (instead of 5 x-large eggs) in my Kitchenaid mixer. I also used lemon juice instead of the vinegar - it turned out PERFECT. BTW - I used Pillsbury spray flour in my tube pan - came out flawless - no stick! I must admit I was a little apprehensive trying your recipe because you dumped everything in the mixing bowl all at once. I was always taught to GRADUALLY add the sugar and ADD the eggs one at a time, but you proved that theory wrong. I'm an advocate for White Lily Flour (WLF), as I use the 'self rising' WLF when I make my biscuits, but I have never used WLF 'all purpose' flour for cakes (I was always afraid to use it because White Lily Flour is so light/fine/soft and I was afraid the measurements would be too light, resulting in a fallen cake). Thank you for sharing your gift for baking . I just love your warm and friendly personality!

Mrs Phyllis is Dearly Missed. I'm enjoying rewatching her videos. I used to make a buttermilk pound cake every 2 weeks but I'd eat cake instead of food and gained weight😊 but once a month is ok. I have a family to help and everything in moderation. I doi miss watching Phyllis and Mr Bucky. I know they are together in a very beautiful place. She was like a friend or a aunt to me. Thank you to her son who had kept showing her videos. It's like she's still with me in Spirit. God Bless. Love, respect and positivity always. Vee and family

Oh I'll bet the house just smelled so good when this was baking! Vanilla pound cake is actually one of my favorites. I love a heavy, moist cake for snacking. It doesn't need any icing or glaze to me! I thought a pound cake might be too hard to do, but thanks to you I'm going to try! I love baking different flavors of pound cakes.
Grilled pound cake is so delicious with a drizzle of breakfast syrup or jam.
I also cube a few pieces of pound cake and toast in the oven and use as croutons or cut just a bit longer and use to dunk in coffee or tea. But my favorite is served with homemade lemon curd and whipped cream.
    Great recipe. Thank you!

Rose Hagood hi Rose it took about an hour and ten minutes in glass loaf pans. I also made a tunnel with a tablespoon about a half inch deep. I used the lower 3rd of oven, but next time I'll use the middle because it came out dark on the bottom I though it would take less time so I started to check at 50 min. I would still do that. You will love it! The top and sides were beautiful golden

Well, Ms Phyllis, you've done it once again! I've made pound cakes using different recipes but never used ACV before. That really intrigued me so made your Butter Pound Cake this afternoon. The hardest part was waiting for it to cool and remove it from the cake pan. My family wanted no supper...only cake... as soon as I announced we were trying one of Ms Phyllis' dessert recipes! We all really enjoyed the cake, Ms Phyllis. By the way, I baked the cake in my bundt cake pan. I sprayed the pan liberally with a product called Baker's Joy. The cake did not stick in the pan. If you're not familiar with it, it's in the baking section with the shortening and cooking oils at Wal-Mart. I highly recommend it!! Thanks again for sharing another of your delicious recipes and for another of your videos. I always look forward to them. Best wishes to you & Mr Bucky!

We love buttery cake! My aunt lived "out in the country" and I loved to visit her. I got to spend time there in the summer. One of those times, her next door neighbor came over for pound cake and a visit one time while I was there. She said the reason it was called pound cake was because originally it had a pound of butter in it! (My cousin rolled her eyes behind the neighbor and later told me, "She always says that! Every time!" It was her punch line, I guess, and my cousin was just tired of hearing it!
This is just a funny story I wanted to share. I'm sure if you added a pound of butter to your cake, you are going to have to adjust the rest of the ingredients accordingly! I can't wait to try your recipe and plan to freeze most of it by your instructions on another video! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Ms Phyllis your cake looks wonderful. I can tell by the texture it was very moist. The top had that beautiful pound cake crust so I know it tasted great. Whether you used apple cider vinegar or lemon juice you are correct, no one will be able to tell the difference. I made my pound cake using Lebanese yoghurt (which was as thick if not thicker than sour cream) and it came out fabulously. I am a firm believer of taking a recipe and making it your own and your pound cake is an excellent base. Thank you so much for sharing. God Bless!

I have used waxed paper to line tube pans for over 50 years and I have NEVER had a fire!! Unbelievable that someone posted that! There must have been a problem with their oven???? 😳

I have the fluted cake pan with the ridges in it and a angel food cake pan. I have never used the one with ridges yet. I think parchment paper also works well as a liner. That cake looked so moist and delicious. I will be making that sometime soon. I made ham and pea soup the other day as its been very cold here in Minnesota.

Sooo Yummy !!!! I remember my mom making this and the aroma is just wonderful with all that butter. My dad would request a BIG piece to take to work with him. Great packable treat in the lunch box. I'm going to try this for sunday supper with strawberries and whipped cream. Thank you and love to you and Mr. Bucky and the fur babies !!!

I love your recipe better than other ones I've seen. I followed other recipes exactly and it didn't come out good. The middle wasn't cooked properly. As soon as you said no Baking Powder or Baking Soda, I felt relief. Thank you for the recipe.

I love homemade pound cake and this one looked delicious. You're right about wax paper not catching fire. As a kid in the 50's and 60's my mom would have never even thought about making a cake of any kind without lining the pan/pans with wax paper. Back in those days if you didn't line them with wax paper they were almost guaranteed to stick. =)

I never used apple cider vinegar in making a pound cake. I'm going to try and use that apple cider vinegar in the pound cake. Cake looks delicious 😋😋😋

Phyllis, the following is a formula for the Best Cake Release. You can use on cake pans and cupcake tins/pans. Try it out. It works for me.
    The formula is simple.
    Mix:
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 cup Crisco
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    Mix thoroughly with a mixer.
Store in a jar with a screw on lid.
Lasts for 6 months in your cabinet.
Brush your pans with the mix using a pastry brush.

It works great! I’ve used it for years. You can do one chocolate, too, by substituting 2 Tbsp. of cocoa for 2 Tbsp. of the flour.

    Hi Phyllis,
This is my husband's favourite cake so I will be trying this for his birthday! Very helpful tips regarding greasing wax paper on both sides and using lemon juice as an alternative to apple cider vinegar. Thanks!

I have a stand mixer, and I add everything one at a time. I normally mix my flavoring (almond, butter, lemon, etc.) with my milk, before adding it. But this cake looks fabulous!
