So I made this for my family and when I tell you it was so good! The only difference was I added some butter flavoring to the sauce and it was a hit!!! My mom even asked for the recipe. This cake is the truth 😁

YUM. In the early 70s, there was a trend to make rum soaked bundt cakes similar to this. Bacardi would have ads in all the "ladies" magazines w the recipe. My sister went thru a phase of making the Bacardi rum cakes for gatherings and her friends. So at abt 9 or 10 yrs old, I grew quite fond of them lol 😄. I think I'll turn the tables and make this for her! Thanx for this recipe!! Great channel! 😋

As an avid baker I have tried this recipe and it is TO DIE FOR!! thank you for sharing this amazing recipe with the rest of us! EDIT: I halved the sugar in this recipe and it was still very sweet…. In total this recipe aLmost contain 4 cups sugar 😨😨😨
@Dee038 I would ease into that cake slowly over multiple days after a sugar fast 🤕 Are you in ketosis now? Or did you keep your carbs in your diet and just cut out sugars as in sweets? Either way, great job sticking to your guns and following through with a promise to yourself!

My favorite cake. My mother made it for my birthdays or peanut cake or bread pudding with buttery lemon sauce. All different all wonderful and all my favorites. I slice pieces very thin. Cake freezes well. One cake will last me from one birthday to the next. It’s rich. You can use all vanilla if you don’t have rum flavoring, but true KBC has rum extract. Thanks for making this.

I had to make this cake after I watches your video and I will just like to let you and everyone know when you decide to make this cake make sure you are making it for an occasion. Why I say that is because you will find yourself eating half the cake. This by far is the MOST DELICIOUS CAKE I HAVE EVER MADE!!!! I ate one slice after I put the syrup on the cake. 😲 I immediately knew I had to get that cake out of my house. I distributed slices to everyone and got nothing but great raves about it. I just made this cake today. It taste like Nigerian birthday cakes, which means it taste great. Normally in Nigerian birthday cakes you use butterscotch extract but this rum extract works well the way it is. It has only been 2-3 hours since I baked it. Instead of using actual butter for both the cake and the syrup I used Country Crock(vegan butter). So next time I will use half of the amount of butter as country crock butter does not foam.
My mom's friend use to make this all of the time. She just straight up called it Rum Cake. Although, she also used straight rum and not extract. So, so, so good. I can't have it any more. In recovery. :(...

I would like to say something about your grandmother. Don't you love looking at your grandmother's hands. To me they're telling me a story. Brought back memories of me being young,, barely reaching the top of the counter and watching my Mamaw,, ( who raised me for my first 6 months of living) Anyway thinking her hands with the wrinkles were absolutely beautiful like your grandma's hands. I had to make this cake after I watches your video and I will just like to let you and everyone know when you decide to make this cake make sure you are making it for an occasion. Why I say that is because you will find yourself eating half the cake. This by far is the MOST DELICIOUS CAKE I HAVE EVER MADE!!!! I ate one slice after I put the syrup on the cake. 😲 I immediately knew I had to get that cake out of my house. I distributed slices to everyone and got nothing but great raves about it. Will be making again at my family gathering in August. THANK YOU!!!

I just made this cake today. It taste like Nigerian birthday cakes, which means it taste great. Normally in Nigerian birthday cakes you use butterscotch extract but this rum extract works well the way it is. It has only been 2-3 hours since I baked it. Instead of using actual butter for both the cake and the syrup I used Country Crock(vegan butter). So next time I will use half of the amount of butter as country crock butter does not foam.
My mom's friend use to make this all of the time. She just straight up called it Rum Cake. Although, she also used straight rum and not extract. So, so, so good. I can't have it any more. In recovery. :(...

Im sure u could do it single layer maybe use less of the glaze, would still be good as a big sheet pan cake. Mmmm all good.
you can use a dutch oven pot & it will look like a pound cake, or you can use a round casserole dish to bake it in.
This cake is beautiful, the texture look like it may be very fluffy, & delicious I'm gluten intolerant but I'm going to purchase some benadryl & eat some of it any way, I'm also going to share with my 2 sons.
