Excellent review Vincent. Any comments from your contacts at TCL about the problem of the black bars (local dimming algorithm) and the APL dependent colorimetry ? Do they plan to fix it with updates or should we not count on it ?
Don't ever rely on TCL for software updates. They have had 480p scaling issues in multiple TV models of them for like 4+ years, which they promised to fix in updates, and it still hasn't been. Only factor in updates if it is already available _before_ you buy a product.

The black crush of the QN95C at 1:46 is the reason I always used my Q90R with local dimming set to low. I did lose some peak brightness but on the plus side I also lost some blooming-strength, increased shadow detail and still kept some of the deep blacks and the lovely QLED color richness. Do you guys ever test the audio delay when using eARC with a home theater when using another input for the source, for example hooking up a PS5 to the TV, then using the eARC for audio on a receiver? My TCL 55R635 is not bad in a lot of ways but the audio delay makes me want to throw it in the garbage and buy a new TV sometimes. I don't see much coverage of this problem with TVs. When playing a vid from an internal app such as Netflix, there may or may not be a delay with audio depending on the app. Amazon Prime was always the worst while other apps are fine or not bad enough to be a problem. You can't use lip-sync settings as it only delays audio further. Also for gaming it wrecks the experience when audio is lagging behind by 1/4 second or whatever.

can you do a review for TCL C855?
please do 85inch C855 review
I have a TCL QLED 65C805 and I don't know how to set it up that it shows me Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos when we run a 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos video n HBO Max used to show me, but now it doesn't have that information.when we start the video, so I'm wondering how to activate it?
I remember your review of C835, so it looks like this model has more issues with local dimming alghorithm? You think it's something they can fix with an update? I was planning to buy this one
i bought c845 last 3week ago do you have calibration hdr sdr settings for us?
please answer me i just looked all reviews i didn't find any calibration settings also in google i can't find them what i do/:
Nobody has a “calibration” settings to share, what you are asking is “configuration” settings, a completely different thing. Calibration are insidious for each single unit of tvs, with measurement equipment.
where would i find "configuration" settings? also thanks for answering🙏
13:20 Why can't you show us the 3840x2160 144Hz input lag?
Every time I keep seeing 1920x1080 120Hz input lag times.
Agreed.. and 4k 120 aswell
@@antos1951 People need to say this more, the more we say it the faster he will go and search a device that is capable just doing that. OLED gaming monitors are on 240Hz for 1440p, LG will make a 240Hz capable 4K monitor in 2024. 1080p 120Hz results will look very sad on those monitors/TVs.
@@N0N0111 totally agreed i have a gaming pc pretty high end and to not have a 4k 120hz input lag result is very frustrating
@HDTVTest, are you aware that TCL updated the SOC for the C845 to Mediatek Pentonic 700 aka MT9618. The modelnumber found on the box label is: 65C845X2
Why do you think they (silently) upgraded the SOC? What will have improved?
Buy a better receiver and connect PS5 to that with eARC to TV
@@digitalblunt I have a Yamaha RX-A880. It's not the receiver that has the problem it's the TV. And it's not just mine. Tons of them have these same issues.
there is always a 100ms delay when sending sound via eARC. that is what I have read on-line
I still use a Panasonic ZT isf calibrated plasma ...yes thats right ! Would I be disappointed getting an 85inch c845?
Is this the comparative to the us model QM8? If not, is better or worse?
This one is a tier below than QM8
Pretty sure it's worse unfortunately.
It's a shame that they make different models for different regions. It just confuses customers and leads to disappointment.
This is a big part of the reason that I'll probably go with Hisense next time.
Their U8K looks interesting and may actually be the same tv regardless of where you buy it this time.
@@WildReefer I wonder if EU U8K is the same as USA, because aesthetically wise it's different, so I would not be surprised if performance are different too! Like qn90a 2 years ago, the EU was ADS, the USA was a spectacular VA panel.
@@joxyn I heard that both TCL and Hisense are moving towards a more simplified product line up so that people will finally get the same tv regardless of where they live.
We can but hope....
Finally C845
I have the US version, QM8 and have not noticed the black bar issues. But this TV is really really bright. Before I calibrated it, the brightness on SDR was at 80 and was so bright at night I had to turn away at certain scenes.
The QM8 is a big step up from the UK's 845, Big big shame for us :(
The QM8 has 1000 dimming zones lol US TVs are so much better than UK ones
@@mrbrookeyoung QM8 is almost identical to C935

I was planning to buy this tv 75" now IM scared from the comments talking about black bars,,,can please anyone have this tv to confirm or deny this problem with mention how many months of used …thx
What black bars? Did you buy it?
Would it make a good outdoor TV with that much brightness and if it was in a proper enclosure?
It is no TCL QM8... why aint we getting that TV in the UK? Really thought the 845 was going to be an absolute stunner...slightly disappointing the same with the Hisense 8UK
Possible to do side by side comparison with tcl c835? Reddit has mixed reactions on this. Some highlighted c845 contrast quality is worse than c835 due to the brightness
Might be too late commenting on your post, but I got my c835 swapped with a c845 and I regret it immediately. It's been 24 hours and it's apparent that c835 was the superior TV C845 is extremely washed out. I absolutely hate it.
Hello. I want to ask about the black bars issue. Does it fix it with some update ? Cause I want to buy it. Is there the same problem also in C855 ?
500 zones vs 1080 on the 65QM8. Though, the QM8 seems to exhibit the same EOTF behavior. What are the zones on the 75” C845? 75 QM8 has 1920 zones.
Finally the review i was waiting. Unfortunately the product seems not that good as marketed. Probably will save for an oled from 2022.
Save your money😂😅

Thanks might be a no brainer on black Friday. But are we going to get TCL QM8 or Hisense UX in UK or is it just America that gets the best as usual?
Qm8 = c935
@@azamat19 really I thought c935 was last year model.
America don't get any Panasonic tv, and that's one of the best tv brands on the market.
I know Panasonic make good oled TVs but don't know what their LCDs are like. I've had bad luck with oleds in past. Had 2 different and both only lasted 6 months and panels went so not keen on trying anymore.
I have ordered the c835 which is the r655 in usa, but ours has google tv instead of roku and ours has a 2.1 sound system.
Would you recommend going for c785k or c745k? both are 65 inch but £200 difference for me. I'm looking for whichever one has less DSE/banding
The mini LED local dimming performance is very lacking, the price is right at $800 USD.
What about Hisense U8H? The best budget LED last year
not where he was based
I appreciate the review. I've also been looking at the c745
I got that TV, it's truly amazing.
@@Moonwalker86I'm also looking at getting the C745 65". Most of the features and specs are very similar to the C845. Same CPU etc. The only concern would be the brightness - 1000 nits vs 2000 nits on the C845

How to I access game bar? I saw it first when i started my ps5 but then it disappeared
Where Is RGB limited or full in this TV ?! I have ps5 and tcl c805.
Vincent can you do a review of the QM8 and contrast with this tv? Not sure why they have not released in Aus/UK
so which one is better: C835 or C845 ?
it depends... on bright room, i´d stick with c845...
€2000 for the 85 inch version is a pretty good deal.
so did they do any updates in the past year?
Any upcoming review of the 765? Sold as the Q9BK8 in Costco UK.
Contemplating whether to get this or the Samsung QN90D for a similar price?
Apparently the UK 55inch Samsung does not have a VA panel?
Thanks
Would like to know how this compares to Hisense U8k and U7K. Anyone know?
Thanks for your review. Silly question but how do you get to the settings at 13:20 to change them. Is that through the tv?
4K 4:4:4 is not working under any circumstances... Not sure if there is any secret, tried all settings...
What is the difference between this and C849
Has the HDR black bars issue received a fix via an update. This is a big test for TCL, every review has highlighted it, so are they serious about support?
Hello Vincent, you are an expert on tv, I have a question for you, I currently have a tcl c825 but I want to change to a newer model, a better choice will be tcl c845 or hisense u8k. Thank you in advance for your answer and best regards.
Please Review TCL C755 55"
how on earth can you recommend this with such a massive flaw with local dimming ?
Can someone tell me how to bring up the game bar menu please.
Here in Romania, TCL C845 and C935 are in the same price range on 65inch screen. Do you think that C935 is better than C845?
Yep C935 is better than C845 but C945 should be coming also later this year
@@vladdx better on which criteria ?
@@khaynn2112 C935 has more dimming zones which means less blooming as well as better defined highlights
Are these TCL TVs reliable? reading some reviews on another site, many people complained about a short product life and non-existent customer support, at least as far as Italy is concerne.

My TCL QLED is now 6 years old, no new issues, same as when I bought it.
Hi, Does the TCL C845 have PVR/Timeshift function or not?
On TCL global website in the specifications (additional feature) for all C845 display sizes is written that the the TV has PVR/Timeshift (Comply with different regional standards).
A few of my friends have this device, but they can't manage to operate it, there is not such function.
The C845 did recognize the external SSD and HDD via USB Port, but they still could not bring to work any PVR/Timeshift function on it.
Did you find such function and it works? if so, how and where it's possible to use/start it on an european regional C845 TV?
Thank you.
Hi, is the TCL 85C845K C845 simply the 85" version of this TV with the same panel etc?
Have these problems been fixed especially vrr?
Do these apply to 75 inch model too? I am about to buy one
is a TCL 855 review coming up?
Hi, need to buy a new tv. Should I go for this one or Samsung QN94B (which should have american QN90B panel)?

Im also considering these two TVs. Tcl is 130 euro's cheaper but that isnt a big deal for me. What TV did you end up with and what would you recommend? Id be mostly using it for 4k content and PS5
@@sinterklaasenzwartepiet4267 I bought the tcl c845, but I returned it and bought a s90c since I found it under 1000€
It wasnt a bad tv, but tonemapping was overbrightening everything, and HGIG was too dark for me
Also, VRR was unusable, inverse ghosting was very severe. I knew VA was were suffering for overshoot/inverse ghosting but with this tv was horrendous and apparently all TCL tv suffer from this.. I cant understabd why no one mentoin it..

not tested here is response times at different framerates with vrr, thr further the framerste is from 60 or 120hz then the more overshoot, pretty annoying
Is it 20-20-0 clicks or 15-15-0 clicks for PS5 hdr calibration on C845?
How does this tv compare to Samsungs Q90T? Are the blacklevels worse?
What is the difference between this model and TCL 65 MQLED80?
I would also like to know
MQLED80 is, from what I evaluated, equivalent to the C80 (1300 nits max, older FALD with fewer zones, 3D CMS). Then there is the QLED870, which is equivalent to the C745 (1000 nits max, newer FALD, WP calibration). It is really frustrating to get through the different models and specs, some models do have newer tech, others have older tech, etc. Though it would be nice to get some reliable information on this chaos of products, especially for the european market (@HDTVTest).
Nice review Vincent, did you also have to enable dynamic tone mapping in HDR mode for colors in Windows to not appear washed up?
Lg c2 and tcl845 are in the same price in my country which one should i buy?
