Is there a way to find out what TCL has addressed in firmware updates and what models they pertain to? Like a list. In 2 seconds, I can find out what was addressed on my LG OLED but, TCL (no comment) doesn't have that. They go through Roku and Google TV but, I want to know if they addressed something in the models I own or one I might buy. It's like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles. I won't buy anymore, because I never know if they address firmware or software issues. Telling me that it's version 12.0 and how to update, all over the internet with zero breakdown or list of anything, is why I won't buy front them anymore.

juSt GeT aN oLeD Yeah sure I'll spend 3x the price for minimal differences and burn in. Some of the people commenting were expecting this to be top of the line or competing with TVs that cost 5k
Nah, you can get a decent 65” OLED for about 1.3-1.4x as much as this. When you’re dropping 1k on a TV anyway you’re going to want something with good image quality. Burn in is over exaggerated, see Vincent’s burn in test video.

I've seen several reviews and video comparisons showing how U8K has almost ZERO blooming nearly identical to OLEDs with significantly deep blacks. That TV is a beast. It had $100 knocked off its price just a few days ago in Canada (yes I'm closely watching for a good price drop) and am sure its further going to go down here as well as in other markets. The U8K also seems to edge out TCL's latest and greatest, the QM8, as per several reviews -- its not as bright as TCL at peak brightness but extreme brightness levels are reserved for HDR content at/above 1000 nits which U8K is capable of handling with 1,500-nit peak brightness.
@@lordtardar4639in Australia they are nowhere near the same quality. I got a 75" U8Hau and I can clearly count the dimming zones. About 10 rows virtually and 21 horizontally , so 210. It ended up being faulty unit and Hisense have offered to replace it with a U7K 75" or refund.

Hello Vincent, I’ve been watching your reviews for years now… previously you have always rated Panasonic OLED TVS as being one of the best brands. I have a TX 55FZ802B which i purchased in 2019 (2018 Model). Just had the screen replaced under the 5 year warranty as i had a few pixels blown but the major problem was a bright line across the top of the screen.. all I wanted to say was wow what a difference now with the new screen, i guess the screens must deteriorate a lot over a few years… what do you think?
OLED's wear out over time. Well known. Regardless of brand or make. It's just how the tech works. Even LCD will lose brightness over time as the LED backlight wears out.
Had the TV for a while now and this review is pretty much spot on! Coming from a OLED to this took a bit getting used to but I’m overall OK with the image quality. I went with the 75” model and it’s very fun to watch movies and play games at this size. Colors are a bit crazy, especially reds so I need to adjust that. But the biggest issue have been Motion Clarity suddenly not working. With both Blur and Judder reduction having no effect. Only solution when it happens is to do a reboot in the menu. No idea what triggers it to stop working.
Would you say the jump in size is more immersive than the picture quality of the OLED? Sitting 8.5 feet away, I can’t decide between a 65” OLED or 75” QM8 for movies and games.
I was planning to buy this tv 75" now IM scared from the comments talking about black bars,,,can please anyone have this tv to confirm or deny this problem with mention how many months of used …thx
Do you guys ever test the audio delay when using eARC with a home theater when using another input for the source, for example hooking up a PS5 to the TV, then using the eARC for audio on a receiver? My TCL 55R635 is not bad in a lot of ways but the audio delay makes me want to throw it in the garbage and buy a new TV sometimes. I don't see much coverage of this problem with TVs. When playing a vid from an internal app such as Netflix, there may or may not be a delay with audio depending on the app. Amazon Prime was always the worst while other apps are fine or not bad enough to be a problem. You can't use lip-sync settings as it only delays audio further. Also for gaming it wrecks the experience when audio is lagging behind by 1/4 second or whatever.
@@digitalblunt I have a Yamaha RX-A880. It's not the receiver that has the problem it's the TV. And it's not just mine. Tons of them have these same issues.

I know it is very costly reviewing TVs from overseas, but It will be nice for Vincent to get the qm8 and actually confirm the similarities/differences with c845., and what the extra dimming zone son the later actually do. Qm8 reviews have also noted the inaccurate EOTF tracking, but as some one who has been using the 85 inch qm8 for almost a month now, I have seen absolutely zero issues with the local diming feature in regards to black levels. Black bars are almost always OLED like. Some comments here seem to suggests the extra dimming zones will not matter, but surely having 2x dimming zones on the qm8 should brute force past whatever limitations the local dimming software currently has.

around that time soon after you asked x2 variants started to ship, did you end up buying the tv?
@@StevoHDA yes I bought the TV in black friday sales. X1. Very affordable. Great tv. Some slight get bar issues but not the show stoppers people made it out to be. This year's TVs may be exciting
so which one is better: C835 or C845 ?
it depends... on bright room, i´d stick with c845...
Thanks for reviewing a non-US TV!
500 zones vs 1080 on the 65QM8. Though, the QM8 seems to exhibit the same EOTF behavior. What are the zones on the 75” C845? 75 QM8 has 1920 zones.
I have the US version, QM8 and have not noticed the black bar issues. But this TV is really really bright. Before I calibrated it, the brightness on SDR was at 80 and was so bright at night I had to turn away at certain scenes.
The QM8 is a big step up from the UK's 845, Big big shame for us :(
The QM8 has 1000 dimming zones lol US TVs are so much better than UK ones

Thank you for your time and posting. Great info as always. BTW, I've been to that castle; Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. :)
You obviously are at the top of your game reviewing tv's, but it would be good if you did one that didnt have so much technical jargon. 😢
I still use a Panasonic ZT isf calibrated plasma ...yes thats right ! Would I be disappointed getting an 85inch c845?
Nice review Vincent, did you also have to enable dynamic tone mapping in HDR mode for colors in Windows to not appear washed up?
It is no TCL QM8... why aint we getting that TV in the UK? Really thought the 845 was going to be an absolute stunner...slightly disappointing the same with the Hisense 8UK

Yeah sure I'll spend 3x the price for minimal differences and burn in.
@@CleggyCool except comments are saying the C3 which is nearly $5000 here when this is $1500
Also having had TVs with burn in, any at all is too much. These things are supposed to last years, I can't trust people that have had theirs for a few months and have some weird brand loyalty to OLED or need to justify the purchase
@@choopoopoo I agree with you that people saying “get a C3” are not making a fair comparison

That's a quarter of the price for this. If you're looking for a budget tv that has great features then adding 1/4th of the cost on top isn't an intelligent decision
Will TVs with 12Bit native color depth ever arrive?
Vincent can you do a review of the QM8 and contrast with this tv? Not sure why they have not released in Aus/UK
What about Hisense U8H? The best budget LED last year

Opinions on what's best 75"
(less blooming) between:
C845, QN90C, U8K or a sony x85
U8K Europe model hasn't been yet released
QN90C is a huge step forward and has the least blooming of any LED LCD TV. The x85 doesn't even have any local dimming while the QN90C has 720 dimming zones. The only better LED LCD is the Sony X95L which costs a lot more money
@@darthbrodais qn85c much worse than qn90c? ..It's $200 less. $2600 AUD compared to $2800 for 90c
Looking forward to your test TV Toshiba X9900LE series!
The amount of local dimming doesn’t mean nothing , if cannot used properly . tcl has a long journey to be in the level of sony , samsung and lg .

For that tcl Better than them in Mini LED
@@-abuyousifgames5474 the tcl is not better than sony x95k mini led . Which its 2022 and has lower local dimming zones .
The local dimming zones on their US models like the QM8 and Q7 are great.
c835 actually had better dimming zones handling than Samsung for example.
@@spookyman9994 That depends on how much you can stand blooming which is terrible on X95K compared to the C845
I tried that custom resolution plenty of times, it will not allow 4:4:4 Chroma on SDR content with 4K 144Hz
I wonder how the Hisense u8k holds up against this tcl?
Great video thanks, can you Do c855 review .
I remember your review of C835, so it looks like this model has more issues with local dimming alghorithm? You think it's something they can fix with an update? I was planning to buy this one
Would it make a good outdoor TV with that much brightness and if it was in a proper enclosure?
4K 4:4:4 is not working under any circumstances... Not sure if there is any secret, tried all settings...

Do you like it and recommend it, 3 months later?
Possible to do side by side comparison with tcl c835? Reddit has mixed reactions on this. Some highlighted c845 contrast quality is worse than c835 due to the brightness
Might be too late commenting on your post, but I got my c835 swapped with a c845 and I regret it immediately. It's been 24 hours and it's apparent that c835 was the superior TV C845 is extremely washed out. I absolutely hate it.
Thanks might be a no brainer on black Friday. But are we going to get TCL QM8 or Hisense UX in UK or is it just America that gets the best as usual?
Qm8 = c935
@@azamat19 really I thought c935 was last year model.
America don't get any Panasonic tv, and that's one of the best tv brands on the market.
I know Panasonic make good oled TVs but don't know what their LCDs are like. I've had bad luck with oleds in past. Had 2 different and both only lasted 6 months and panels went so not keen on trying anymore.
I have ordered the c835 which is the r655 in usa, but ours has google tv instead of roku and ours has a 2.1 sound system.
The TCL QM8 has over thousand dimming zones and just over 2000 nits brightness. I wonder how it would compare. 65 inch under $1300 USA model.

Hello Vincent, you are an expert on tv, I have a question for you, I currently have a tcl c825 but I want to change to a newer model, a better choice will be tcl c845 or hisense u8k. Thank you in advance for your answer and best regards.
Id love to see a review between qm8 and qn90b, to me the qn90b is the best bang for the buck, closest to oled blacks ive ever seen on a qled

No idea what triggers it to stop working.
what made you switch to led?

Hello, nice review! Does this model still have the "audio only mode"?
Sure does! I just unboxed mine today and saw that setting :)
Buy a better receiver and connect PS5 to that with eARC to TV
@@digitalblunt I have a Yamaha RX-A880. It's not the receiver that has the problem it's the TV. And it's not just mine. Tons of them have these same issues.
there is always a 100ms delay when sending sound via eARC. that is what I have read on-line
Is this the comparative to the us model QM8? If not, is better or worse?
This one is a tier below than QM8
Pretty sure it's worse unfortunately.
It's a shame that they make different models for different regions. It just confuses customers and leads to disappointment.
This is a big part of the reason that I'll probably go with Hisense next time.
Their U8K looks interesting and may actually be the same tv regardless of where you buy it this time.
@@WildReefer I wonder if EU U8K is the same as USA, because aesthetically wise it's different, so I would not be surprised if performance are different too! Like qn90a 2 years ago, the EU was ADS, the USA was a spectacular VA panel.

Thanks a lot for this detailed review. Yet, I've got one important question before pulling the trigger and buying this TV as soon as the 'Black week' deals will be offered. Oddly, TCL moved the eARC port to one of the HDMI 2.0 (or even 1.4?) ports. Will there be a great disadvantage when connecting my HDMI 2.1 capable Atmos surround system to the non-HDMI 2.1 port?
no, hdmi 2.0 has plenty of bandwidth for eARC, wasting an HDMI 2.1 port for eARC is dumb, TCL made the right choice
