Doing all N. Verted levels now, and I have to say... I really feel like I accomplished something having obtained the perfect relic before the update. Now, it seems you hit any part of the sets of 4 crates on the riding section and it takes them all out. Before the update you had to hit those dead center.
You wanna know what my Death Counter was at when I reached Polar? 1. Wanna know what it was when I got to the end of the level with every single box from the Polar gauntlet. FIFTY-FUCKING-SEVEN.
That's good. I'm always at 0 before the bear, thinking perfect relic time but i recorded 98 deaths in normal version and 80 in nverted so 57 is brilliant!
I am honestly at the point where I want to eject the disc and break it and burn it into the fire never to be seen again, but I bought this game online, so... it's simply this level along with building bridges, with the polar bear parts.. I mean I got both the regular level gems, but I can't for the life of me find out why these n verted ones are so hard.. obviously I'm not even going for the insanely perfect relic, just trying to complete all clear gems by grabbing the box gems. The rest of the levels in this game aren't as bad as these 2
If anyone is doing this in March 2021 and onwards, I think they may have made the hit boxes for the boxes actually legit now. Normally I'd miss some of the 4 stacked boxes and this time I went though and didn't miss one - and someetimes I swear I didn't go through all of them properly but it still smashed them.
I got the box gem in the regular version pre-patch, and it took over 100 deaths, and i went from 99 lives to around 60ish. I just now got the inverted box gem, and the Polar section took around 10 deaths (most of which were me smacking into trees rather than missing boxes and committing Pokédex number 245) and still had 99 lives at the end
Absolutely legendary. I just HAD to look this up because this just looked impossible to get the perfect relic on. Just a quick question, are those perfect relics required for the 100% ending??
Got the 3 max gem after a few tries. But then for the all boxes gem, I got to the polar bear with 14 deaths and finished the level at 77 deaths! I hate this level

You're 100% correct. The PS5 update patch (which also applies to the PS4 version) fixed Polar's hitboxes.

I can't say for certain about the N.Verted levels, but I know that you need the death relic from all the regular levels, excluding bosses.

Autoscroller levels are not great :(
If anyone's wondering - you need to have 203 boxes BEFORE hitting the last checkpoint. If you have less, you missed one.
