- One for the weekend friends! We couldn't take Gennaro all the way to Italy without indulging in this classic. This is also one of the recipes we had as a popular request for Gennaro to make from you guys! So here it is, super simple, super tasty, super Italian.
Gennaro in Italy
Over the coming months we will posting a series of Gennaro’s recipes from Italy, some of which you, the audience, have specifically asked for and others are Gennaro doing what the Italians do best - sourcing good ingredients and making simple, bold dishes with little effort and time involved.
Rather than cut these videos right down, we have left them a little longer and kept them relaxed. We think watching Gennaro in Italy is a glorious thing, and Gennaro does such a great job at being both inspiring and entertaining. So sit back and enjoy these as they roll out - we would love to know what you think.

Gennaro's tiramisu will get you hammered
No regrets
🤣
Vin Santo only has about 16% abv, so you'll be fine XD
Also salmonella
..It will also get you laid if you make it for your significant other...Fantastico!!
People getting offended every time someone doesn't make "authentic" tiramisu. Then Italian chef comes and basically tells you several substitutes for the original ingredients :D It's not possible to dislike Gennaro.
These days people will call anything a tiramisu, but if you've eaten the proper thing and seek out that authentic flavour then substitutes really don't cut it. Substitutions are fine if you purposely want a different flavour, but the basic tiramisu ingredients aren't that hard to come by or make from scratch yourself so I think it's lazy to use substitutes if you want your tiramisu to impress.
this is simply an american ricetta, the cream is far away from the original one. no way to argue that.
Mααrʈεn M q
@Sakina Fletcher the original does not have cream, only Mascarpone. Restaurants often mix cream in varying amounts into it to cut costs. Once you made it with Mascarpone only, you will easily spot the difference and you will most likely enjoy stretched Tiramisu much less.
TheSwedishRider does the authentic Tiramisu contain egg whites or not?
2 eggs, separated
125g sugar
450g mascarpone
300ml cream
Squeeze of lemon
plate of coffee
100ml (125ml) Vin Santo
Savoiardi biscuits
What kind of cream is he using?
Beata Krawczyk 30 % or 36 %😉
Quincy what cream he used ,, is it like wipe cream
It’s heavy cream
thank you

I love this man so much. He is full of life and he reminds me of my papa. He passed away a year ago but when he would cook, it would be mouth watering and so good. He raised me and taught me everything I know. Gennaro makes my heart happy with how much he loves his food. I picked up all my pasta skills from him. Bless him forever
I miss antonio saying "no gennaro thats enough" Whenever gennaro tries to add extra ingredients lol

Whenever I'm searching for an Italian recipe, Gennaro is always an instant click because you know it will be authentic and well explained
sorry to break it to you, but this isn't exactly authentic, don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with it, looks very good, but he doesn't always follow authentic tradition (he even says it in one of his videos, when he made Amatriciana)
Except this is far from authentic. No Italian would be caught dead putting cream in tiramisu.
That smile at 4:04 is just so Gennaro, haha. I love it!
I was thinking exactly the same thing. I fall in love with this man several times each video.
Now thats a mischievous grin if there ever was one 😁🤣👍

Gennaro: everyone can do it
Me: ok. *tries to scoop yolk out*
*yolk pops in my hand*
Me: well, I guess my name isn’t everybody
Your egg wasn't fresh enough. Simples
@John Stark i didn't understand that. It was used in a British ad many years ago. I was just joking.
craz4jaymz I didn’t actually do it. It was just a joke 😂
@@a-lek7614 I know 😁 I just wanted to play along
@John Stark nope
I've missed the classic: "Why am I cooking so good!!" Love you Gennaro. You're inspiring here in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
He is so passionate, Oh lord, he is the master of his art.
He even makes me to love something as simple as tomato !
Can't not watch a video with Gennaro in it. The guy is a joy to watch -- so much love and passion for his food.
The amount of passion this man has is so contagious.
I also add half a bottle of liquor in my Tiramisu.. errr I mean 2 tablespoons ;-)
Brah, can I have some?
Bruh give sum

Gennaro, it's always good to see people get so excited about food like you do. Also love the kitchen. I get bad kitchen envy when I have to film in my tiny box of a kitchen with no windows! 🤣
I'm sorry to hear that! I think we all want that kitchen with a pretty view when we wash dishes. I don't have a great kitchen either, but it would be nice to have Gennaro in it every now and again. 🙂🌺
Every step of every video I've ever seen Gennaro in, is a masterclass for a life well lived. I don't believe I ever really care much to see the end product. I just want to see each step, and revel in the joy he brings to making it.
this human is wholesome from A to Z he owns my heart and during the whole video i was crying bc of how sweet he was
He. Is freaking. Adorable.
Idk who this beautiful man but it brings me joy just knowing he exists.
What a lovely human being.

Gennaro, you are an authentic breath of fresh air in the UA-cam world! Love your stuff and your forever young enthusiasm xx
Best tiramisu recipe I have ever tried. Everyone who has tried my tiramsiu has said that its delicious. Thanks Gennaro!
Always a joy to watch Jamie and Gennaro...

Drops studying for exams to watch a new Gennaro video.
LOL SAME, BRO
Same here 🤦🏻♀️
You should really get back to your studies now... geez man its been a year!?
He's like that teacher, whose class you love going to.
This man could be my Italian grandpa 💙
He’s so cheerful. I love it! 😁
I love how he doesn't use mixing machines and does them manually. Perfect! 😊
I've been making this delicious Tiramisu "a la Gennaro" for quite some time now. It's one of my favourite desserts to make when we have family and friends around for dinner. And it always comes out brilliantly! Thanks & Ciao!
I love the enthusiasm M. Contaldo shows while he's cooking. I also love the simplicity (and the awesome taste) of this recipe. I always made mine with Marsala, so I gladly learned several things watching this video. Thanks !
The first video that I've ever seen without any Italian commenting about authenticity of the recipes and preparation. Ofc, who will oppose Senor Gennaro when it comes to Italian gastronomy. Who will dare?!
Buon Appetito.
I love Gennaro's lively personality. He reminds me of my grandfather, who passed away a decade ago. I miss him so much. I truly envy people who still have grandparents.
this man is too adorable for his own good and I'm sure he knows it. So much fun to watch!
This is my quarantine dessert .. my brother keeps making it and I keep getting fatter and happier 😅😅😂
Thank youuu for this!!

Watching Gennaro cook is as enjoyable as cooking (and eating!) for yourself, I swear. Beautiful man, his apparent happiness is just contagious :)
Gennaro at 06:00 when you said "ehhhhh you put in one table spoon" while pouring half bottle in... I literally died of laughter! Thank you so much, I'm making this Tiramisu tomorrow for sure!
Love you man :)
We love you, Gennaro!!

Aww. I love the chef, he reminds me of a kind grandpa ❤

I love watching this man. So much humour and soul. Keep cooking Gennaro!
I would eat all that tiramisu myself🤤
Haha, same here.
He’s so adorable 😍😍
Yeah! Gennaro is awesome!
This guy's enthusiasm alone will make the dishes you try from him taste better.
Was on the lookout for some birthday-cake ideas for the lady, and I'm sold. Tiramisu it is.
" To be or not to be, to eat or not to eat, to leave for my friends or not to leave for my friends" brilliant😂
first time seeing this man in my life and i love him already, HE IS A GENIUS and very funny
lots of respect!
HES BACK❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️And goodness was he missed
Super! Leckerstes Tiramisu ever! Habe ich nachgemacht. DANKE!!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've made tiramisu with this recipe, the adjustments I made: used 90ml brandy and 100g erythritol sugar instead. I found still a little too sweet even though I cut down on the sweetness of it, but the texture????!!!! of it is absolutely AMAZING, it is so smooth, creamy and velvety, I highly recommend this recipe. Thank you very much Graci Gennaro!!!
I loved this long format! Nice and relaxing, as you say, but still interesting all the way through
Hands down my favorite chef of all time!
He’s so cheerful and excited it automatically makes me smile
I love your cheeky smile Gennaro, as you had extra sweet wine. 😅
Oh my gosh, this was such a good video. 😀 I love how gennaro really got into it! I was so excited for him at the end when he finally got to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Really easy recipe, takes the fear.oit of making it. Thank you, gennaro! 😘
You know this Tiramisu is off the charts when it makes Gennaro cuss.
Edit: Thanks for the heart :)
You lost the heart 😝

Gennaro is such a legend.
Gennaro seems like he'd be the sweetest Italian grandfather. I can just imagine a couple little kids at the counter with him. ❤❤
2:24 I love Gennaro for yelling at his eggwhites to "COME ON, GODDAMMIT! COME OOOOON!!!!"...
I love his attitude!! Funny guy.

He demonstrated the recipe like a story telling... Love him!
Tiramisu ❤. Thank you so much for this recipe!
Here original recipee from my Italian grandmother let me know if you made it how it taste:
4 eggs, 100 grams white sugar, 500 gram mascarpone, 300 gram cookie ( savoiardi ), bitter cold coffee (espresso) as concentrated as possible, cacao powder for topping. ( if you want and like liquor you can also add some liquor to your coffee mixture )
1. Take your 4 eggs and seperate the yolks from the white.
2. Start mixing the yolks so they become one mixture and once all yolks are a smooth mixture add the 100 grams of sugar and also mix this until its a smooth mixture.
3. When its a smooth mixture add 500 grams of mascarpone until its a smooth mixture.
4. Now start mixing your egg white so it gets a thick smooth mixture and add it to your yolk/mascarpone mix.
5. Now you can start with layering your tiramisu place a layer of the mixture on the bottom.
6. Put your savoiardi cookies in the coffee mixture ( add a little liquor if you like ) and place them on your first layer of the mixture and keep building your tiramisu.
7. Top it off with some cacao powder.
Tip for liquor: Italians mostly put Amaretto or Strega liquor in it.
hey bro, I know it's 2 years but if you're still around and reading this, I made tiramisu yesterday with this recipe. It was my brother's birthday today, May 4th (AKA Star Wars day). Tiramisu is his favourite dessert of all time, he's tried all sorts of tiramisu before-you can consider him as a tiramisu connoisseur. Anyway, I made this recipe with Vincenzovo savoiardi (I tried making some myself for the first time, the texture wasn't right and I didn't have enough time to do a redo.), sweetened my espresso with some dark brown sugar, and threw in around 1/2 cup (~118 ml) of Disaronno's Amaretto.
I also opted to put cocoa powder/dark chocolate shavings for the 1st layer, and the top one as well, and put a squeeze of lemon into the egg whites as shown in this video.
I live in the US, and near where I live there wasn't any options to buy pasteurized eggs (Our eggs in America are not as "safe" to eat raw) compared to other countries, so I had to manually pasturize the eggs myself.
Anyway, I pretty much followed the recipe, minus those additions I've mention beforehand. After all that, my brother said this was the best Tiramisu he's ever had. He absolutely **loves** it, going so far as to go for multiple servings! It really made his day, especially since he's a very food-driven person and just _loves_ food-he's a chef so that's probably why. But he really loved it, and I just wanted to thank you. I will definitely be following this recipe everytime I make some Tiramisu, make sure to give my thanks to your grandmother if she's around! ❤
@@travelsizedhispasian hello, it could be 2 things. Either you didnt mix the eggwhite enough so it wasnt thick. Or you didnt stiffen it up long enough in the cooler. Kind regards :)
Being that cool at this age, you made it man
not eating anything sweet for a month after eating atleast one piece of candy for the last 10yrs. I live vicariously through Gennaro!!!
I had some wonderful Italian food today.
Simple, authentic, full of flavour.
I could've had Tiramasu for dessert, but I had Affogato instead.
Next time.
