- SCP 001 is an Embla Class anomaly also known as The Spiral Path.
SCP-001 is a circular gravel path in a wooded area. When traveled in a counter-clockwise direction on SCP 001, the trail is continuously uphill, even after reaching the original point. When traveled in a clockwise direction on SCP001, the trail shows the same amount of uphill and downhill travel, as expected.
Level 5 clearance is required to access SCP-001’s experiment log.
New members of Overseer Council are required to read Document 001-O5.

Just wondering how he went from studying a path that altered the direction of gravity to creating the ultimate master key.
Simple
You take the dirt that morphs ground and put it in the head of the key When the key turns it fits into the lock
The place changes so by getting the logic their they might be able to apply it to other thingsb

It could be a smooth, cylindrical key with no teeth, made using the same Geometry as the spiral path. If you turn it one way, it "expands", molding to fit the shape of the lock, pushing every pin. If you turn it back, it reverts to its cylindrical shape. It doesn't actually expand, so the only way to perceive the expansion is through contact and friction. Possible explanation.

I think this particular SCP-001 is one of those fakes to throw people off of what the real SCP 001 is.

Truly up to our speculation and what you choose to believe. The SCP Foundation is aware of people in the "real world" (which is ours), reading the SCP Wiki, so this could very well be one of the fakes to mask the origin of the Foundation to hide it from us. Or it could be the real one, there are multiple contradictories in this one story alone, for example: A different SCP-001 explained that the anomalies come from different dimensions leaking into our own, of course not all of the SCP's were created by the Foundation so this could be true but it is still a contradictory. Another one is the most popular origin of the Foundation being SCP-001, Gate Guardian, where the Guardian told the founder to "Prepare" which sparked the creation of the Foundation. This could just be another story to throw us off the trail, or the real thing, who knows.
@Swag Monke Yeah that's true but none of them have been confirmed or denied as the real one just yet so it's a matter of opinion just until then, if it's ever revealed that is.
@@jsc1jake512 or they could all be true. The SCPs you mentioned as well as this one and the one that talks about the foundation being an SCP itself all flow together quite nicely. So in all likelihood the truth was split up into multiple SCP-001s, each containing an aspect of the truth. That makes a lot more sense than simple forgery.

This has always been my favorite SCP-001 Proposal. A truth that shakes you to your core and exposes everything you've known to be a lie is infinitely more impacting than *just another super monster* that wants to destroy the world.
It's shit. It invalidates all the actually creative, interesting scps for an M. Night Shamalayan twist of "WE WERE IT ALL ALONG" by an author with an ego problem.

@@BeatLP Either both of those just appeared (like the spiral path and 049 did) or London 2 was by a time traveller while some higher being started when day breaks.
It's actually one of the few creative ideas in the lot. Some like 682 aren't high art by any means, but are fun from a pulp horror monster sort of standpoint. But when you do that a few hundred more times, the cracks begin to show and the writing that feels like it was created by 12 year olds becomes even more apparent. The Foundation is evil at itts core, but so many of the writers insist on a context of their neutrality. In spite of, you know, literal child sacrifices. The stories that lean into and admit to the Foundation being an evil organization at least have some degree of self awareness and a visible attempt to set itself apart from the pack.

Well they capture anomalies and house them in sites all over the world. The SCP designations go from 001 to 9999. So they’re like amazon but instead of delivering they capture weird things.

this file is most likely a fake one amongst many, dont use it to explain other scps cuz u ll be confused when getting deeper into the scp foundation lore, for example, we know that the flesh that hates was a thing made by the sarkiests and the hard to destroy reptile is most likely one of the things that was once inside one of the 7 brides of the scarlet king, so ya its just a fake file
According to me when the Foundation was created around the world, multiple sites and areas found anomalies and named them SCP-001 and then kept it that way
Headcannon explanation for 001: the real SCP-001 is actually a set of some of the safest SCPs out there, like a pencil sharpener that makes pencils longer instead of shorter or a water gun that turns water into vodka when shot through it. The Spiral Path seen here is one of them, except the only true parts to the tale are the "small potatoes" explained during the first 4 minutes, everything else was made up by the foundation.
The reason all these other 001s are apocalyptic or universe altering tales is to misdirect all the other organizations in the SCP universe into thinking 001 is the most important SCP. Which is also why so many of them are either linked to their beliefs or promise to reveal the deepest secrets of the foundation, which is also why it is used to designate multiple random and perfectly safe anomalies, since that way it has multiple demonstrable storage sites. In essence, it's only real purpose is to keep every enemy of the foundation focused on these stories going in circles (literally in the case of this path) and running around while headless chickes.
I mean, really. Who would be as obvious as to actively note down what set of files its deepest secret is located within? and even more, do so on the first file, number 1, making it even more obvious it's somehow the most important file.
You ask me, I'd hide my secrets on the anti-meme. That's where they'd be really safe.

More of a fan of *"The Factory",* myself. It gave us an origin story of the Foundation, and it the idea of the O5 council telling Dr. Bright of all people their history is an interesting one.

001 means its the first one they FOUND or at least thought to log, making it a story about humans and the nature of discovery is so much more interesting than "super mega death god."
Save the "Super Mega Death Gods" for the thousands. THIS is WAY more narratively satisfying. This will always be the true 001 to me.
I like to think SCP stories have a good classic camp fire ghost story feel, all parts of it too. I love the SCP verse

It's because we encourage repetition not creativity. Look at media. Why come up with a new interesting idea when you can just rehash old material. Need a twist? Change everyone's gender. Those are the stories that sell, so no one tries to make new things. Just remake old stuff, and pass it off as their own.

I like this scp001 the most. It always felt to me that the foundation achieved too little with all the paranormal knowledge that they had. It makes sense that a bunch of scientists would go mad with knowledge once they stumbled across something that defied natural laws. I mean, imagine if a normal person discovered they could move things with their mind. They would spend every free moment experimenting with it. Scientists are even smarter and more curious than us normies - they would ruin themselves trying to understand something like that.
Also the part where they fuck up and hide it is pretty realistic for an organization.

i have been so excited to see this version of scp-001! it was the first scp creature that i have ever read about
I'd love to see a straight reading of Document 001-O5 - all of it - rather than the outline of the actual SCP and the facts surrounding it given here. Not that you did a bad job with this, but rather because the document just hits different, given the way it's written, and I think you guys would do a fantastic job bringing it to life.
Mekhane (The Broken God) is actually good, the version that destroyed most of Mexico had a fake heart, a malicious thing made by The Factory, so the outcome is because of that. And The Scarlet King is the main antagonist in the SCPVerse, thats the consensus. Oh, hello small potato, im waving back at you!

How I see it, is the scp foundation started the Big Bang of anomalies. Simply by breaking the coding of the universe with a key and a few others. Thus science starts glitching and caused the inconsistencies of science.

Minor pet peeve that has absolutely nothing to do with this 001. Non-euclidean geometry is really just any geometry not on a flat surface and the idea that non-euclidean geometry is in any way supernatural was popularized by Lovecraft who would get headaches if he did too much math

I have 1 simple question about this, would the felling of endlessly climbing up be nullified if you were to skip over parts of the path while getting out of it, or would skipping over parts to get out while walking around it clockwise allow you to get out of the path without the anomalous effects taking place

Stepping off the path is not advised. The article indicates that there is another geometric anomaly that was overlooked for quite some time that can result in people who leave the path rather than walking it all the way around, becoming permanently trapped.
Probably the worst 001 for the sole fact it makes the entire SCP foundation and all of the SCP's boring as all fuck.

Gotta say, one of my least favorite 001 proposals, personally. It's basically that aweful trope of "MAN was the REAL monster all along!" Like no, humans are insignificant specks in a vast uncaring universe. Get your sapuocentric stories outta here lol. Still good video, I just wanted to share my opinion.
People call anything that threatens human lives a monster, naturally people are good at this. We terrorize each other far more than anything so far ever could. The universe is cold and unfeeling, but people are filled with hate and malice
I feel like people are so blind to the fact that we don't really matter in this universe that they subconsciously make the smallest events on our speck of a planet seem like the end of the world.

I believe that the scarlet king is the real one, it kinda makes sense because if it was the only scp 001 it would become more powerful, so they added a bunch
