What aesthetics, every detail, every little thing, everything is thought out and balanced.
I have a 2021 911 C4S, and let me tell you something, after watching this video I can feel and sense every bit of commitment Porsche puts into their cars, truly amazing vehicle.
May i ask, how did you afford your car?
In the moment i work for porsche, i drive the cars every day but my absolute dream is owning a 991.2 gt3. My guess is you are self employed?
The precision and attention to detail is staggering.
I can't understand how they can be so precise creating those clay models...
I get most of the things here in principle, but I can't fathom perfect symmetrical clay modelling either. Maybe they skipped showing laser rulers?
I can't help but agree with so many of the comments posted. A number of years back we were on holiday and as usual we frequent the prestige showrooms. Unfortunately it was a Sunday and this particular Mclaren dealership was closed. We peered through the windows and thought with the distortion of the large panes it gave rise to slight interesting shape changes and have always remembered this could easy be a tool for the motor industry to employ for annual model improvements/upgrades? (. Large plastic mirrors could also be flexed to achieve similar outcomes? ) A very cost effective measure delivering interesting results.

That's exactly how i design my own 911sies aswell.
This is it......This is what my true vocation was. At school all I was good at was making clay car models (got an A+) and a serious passion for motorsport.
Now I'm 60 and ended up in a job I hated. You get a deck of cards at birth and off you go...
What was the job that you hated?

Great video but all of these processes are similar for all vehicles. I imagine Porsche Engineers and Designers have a bit more passion but nearly everything shown in this video would be seen on a small B-car up to a Supercar, possibly more time on a high volume vehicle due to the potential for customer complaints.

@@GrillerRohde I never said they are the same. I said they all look the same. Also I think the Cayenne does not know what it is. Why would a bus have a rev counter in front of you and a tiny rectangle bellow it showing you the speed you are going? What`s with all the stupid lights inside? In "normal" mode can be like driving a Smart car because it takes a while before responding while you are driving or attempting to drive it smoothly)) but I like the V10 Carrera GT.

The doors don’t thunk like they used to…. Like on the 993 or earlier. I really like that.
But I do really like how the designers integrated the center screen into the dash. I hate iPad like screens such as BMW and Mercedes.
After watching this, I now understand why the 911's cost 100k plus..

There are a few mistakes here, not to mention you guys combined footage from both the current 911 model and the previous one.
15:43 Exclusive Manufaktur is Porsche's customization department. That golden 911 (older model as well) is one of their special model and therefore has that Exclusive Manufaktur badge.
Can I get one in clay? 😂

I thought protoypes were made with iron but i see, in the beginning, it is used another material. Interesting.
They use clay because it´s cheap and easy to model.

everyone knows how a a new 911 is designed. They take the old one, put it in a copy machine, and just change the zoom ratio a bit

Jesus this looks like a painful labour. After my 25 year in an architectural office this is a true job from hell. I am jealous of anyone who finds this sweat shop environment appealing.
I have passion for automotive design but a workplace as lifeless as this would drive me insane.
It is so sad that almost none of them can afford Porsche that they are assembling.
Why didnt they just use the one from last year?
And what they do for scratches inside the engine cylinders?

I didn't know Porsche have designers. Then why do they keep designing the same model for over 40 years?
Because that´s what they´re known for and that´s what the customers want. If they would change the shape of the 911 sales would instantly drop drastically. The 996 Generation changes the headlight design and Porsche got a gigantic backlasj that they instantly removed it in the next generation. The 996 Generation is also among the most hated 911 Generation in the community and decreased in value more than any other.

That is true, many generations look really similar but ones you see them in real life and spend some time you’ll notice many differences.
Io adoro la tecnologia ..ho disegnato modelli di carrozzeria e moto e design industriale...ma...La Porsche ..eccezionale non so perchè non ci vedo nulla di emozionante a riguardo del suo design ...molto molto simile e se stessa...sempre uguale nel tempo e con una postura estetica molto pesante e ..banale ..chiedo scusa a tutti ma è la sensazione che mi da sempre questo marchio

Take old Beetle blueprints and scale them 30 percent. There you go i saved you many minutes.

I don’t think they’re gonna make the 911, the flagship and EV.
Maybe they make one or two EV models but it will be a ICE car for as long as possible.

I always thought they just had an inflatable toy, added a bit of air every few years and then scanned it into CAD/CAM.

They got the same shape but the design language changes if they wouldn´t remodel each generation they wouldn´t stay in business.

The Porsche design does Change quite a bit between all generations and the Facelift versions are slightly improved.
